openMass deletions on Narm/GameOfThrones
The troper https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=ArgonianLorekeeper
is deleting en masse multiple entries on the Narm page for Game of Thrones. He keeps citing ZCE as an excuse when some of the entries are an entire paragraph.
I sent him a deleting ymmv warning via PM but he is continuing.
Can someone send him a message and restore what he had deleted?
openEdit War Film
Looks like the beginnings of an edit war are going on
Man of Steel. Absolute Sword
added an example under Narm, Master Hero
deleted the example, Absolute Sword has re-added it.
openNarm Videogame
The Narm page claims it's allowed on YMMV pages but when I check out the Metal Gear page it claims it's Flame Bait and should be kept off the work pages. Why is this?
openEdit War over a Narm entry over YMMV.UraraMeirocho Anime
Little Buster added back an entry for Narm at YMMV.Urara Meirocho that he added in the first place with no reason after being removed by someguysomeguy.
openThe page for the funny moments in the Funny/TheRoom should be changed to Narm Film
The Room is trying to be a drama so most of the humor is unintentional. I think changing it to Narm: The Room might be more better.
opendeusexadamjensen 121 Film
As far as I'm aware Funny Moments pages are allowed to contain both intentional and unintentional moments to be added, but on the page for Alien: Covenant deusexadamjensen 121
had been deleted examples of the latter and insulting the people who added them both in their edit reasons and on the discussion page
.
openNightshade 96
Nightshade 96
has been on a mass page-spitting/index-creating spree as pointed out in this previous query
. Said troper was contacted and informed that they should probably get some kind of consensus before making such large page changes.
Despite this they appear to still be continuing with what they are doing, despite the numerous problems they are creating:
For example sometimes they're creating pages with so few examples, it can be hard to see why they were moved in the first place, such as MythologyGag.Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 (as noted here
) which had only 7 examples when it was created (on a related note on the page they were moved from another troper
has undone the removal and restored the examples
— despite the sub-page still existing, and then more recently Nightshade has deleted the examples again).
They also aren't checking to make sure that all the examples from the main trope page are being moved to the sub-pages and not just the examples from the work pages. For example they created AdaptationExplanationExtrication.Harry Potter by taking examples
from Film.Harry Potter, later another troper
deleted all the Harry Potter examples
from Adaptational Explanation Extrication because there was now already a separate page. The problem was there were more examples on the main page, than there were on the newly created sub-page, so if I hadn't thought to go to the history page and copy the examples over they would probably been ignored and then lost.
Nightshade also doesn't appear to be correcting any errors that might be in the examples, e.g. several pages contain a lot of Example Indentation, Natter and Word Cruft which was carried over from when the examples were part of a work page, and in the case of Narm.Spiderman 3 Nightshade has actually added Example Indentation. Nightshade also isn't removing any see example or see X'snote which is discouraged on the wiki as trope example should be able to stand on their own and not require looking at a completely different trope for context, and doesn't make any more since it's referring to something on a page it's no longer a part of bits when they transferred to their own pages (such as the "See Freeze-Frame Bonus" on MythologyGag.Superman The Animated Series).
They also aren't checking to see whether the examples themselves are being used correctly before being moved. To give an illustration they created an Expy sub-page for The Heroes of Olympus, which then has to be cut as it was determined in the Expy Clean-Up Thread that none of the examples were being used correctly
. This is especially problematic considering several of the sub-pages they've created have been for tropes like Broken Base and Narm which are infamous for the amount of misuse they attract on this wiki (at least two Broken Base pages Nightshades created have even been contested by the clean-up thread as both movies they are for have yet to be released
.
open Excessive realism of teenage life makes adult viewers feel uncomfortable. Anime
If teenage experiences in anime are so innocent and realistic that a viewer over 25 years old will simply feel uncomfortable because of the feeling that he is watching the living innocent children, that is it closer to Narm or Squick?
openJust Known Film
On YMMV.Ghost In The Shell 2017, I moved the example for Narm from between One-Scene Wonder and Overshadowed by Controversy to between Memetic Mutation and Nightmare Fuel, so that it would be in alphabetical order.
I also deleted the example for Race Lift, since Race Lift isn't a YMMV item.
JustKnown
has undone
both changes.
openNarm/WebOriginal
How is this any different from the PRLC'd New Media page? Seems like it's asking for stealth examples to be added (and one already has by the looks of it; Facebook falls smack into RL troping.
openBolivianArmyEnding
Can I delete The Familiar of Zero example on Bolivian Army Ending, which seems to be based on Fanon not Canon? (it says "ignore the last five minutes") Fighteer summarised the trope in Edit Banned and it seems that this is clearly misuse.
Some of the examples on Bolivian Army Ending fit better on Bolivian Army Cliffhanger instead, as well.
Edited by TheOneWhoTropesopenIf a work has an audience in it, can an Audience Reaction be listed on their page?
Say we have a recording of a stand-up act or a theatrical production, and that's primarily what gets troped on their page. If the recording captures the audience laughing at a dramatic moment and later laughing loudly at a joke, can the page in question list Narm or Funny Moments as In-Universe?
open Edit in Star Wars the Force Awakens The Resistance Characters Film
I removed Hypocrite edits to Finn and Rey in https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/StarWarsTheResistance
for being in accurate.
The tropes where :
- Hypocrite: She Refuses The Call both when Han offers to take her, and when Maz tells her to take-up the lightsaber, saying that she needs to go back to Jakku. But when Fin does the same, she acts like he's a traitor.
Argued that not a hypocrite. Because she did not refuse the call with Han , she turned down a job offer that is a different thing. Also it was stated she refused the call but called Finn a traitor when he did the same. One ) she did not call him a traitor , she asked him not to leave her. Not ask him not to refuse his calling . Two ) She refused the call AFTER he left, also she refused the call after he left. So her refusing the call and criticizing him for doing the same in inaccurate, both in timeline and also the fact she did not call him out for refusing his destiny only asked him not to leave her.
As for Finn
- Hypocrite: His decision to desert from the First Order is fueled by the shock of one his comrades dying, and disgust at the First Order's execution of unarmed civilians. Then during his escape with Poe, he is outright gleeful murdering dosens of his comrades, along with dosens of unarmed deckofficers.
One) He swore never to fight for the first order not to fight against them. two ) it was never shown he was targeting the deck officers also dozens did not die in the escape attempt three) no indication of him gleefully killing fellow comrades. I was also pointed out that no indication of camraderie in the First Order, only order. So Finn was fighting against people trying to kill him and others not fellow comrades.
Werebazs reinstated the edits , and put it to discussion. Claimed that Rey and Finn where hypocrites for not practicing what they preached. When pointed out that cannon materials stated that Finn was not dealing with fellow comrades but former fanatacial soldierrs Werebazs stated he was going by what was on screen.
Nothing on screen indicates a camradire or friendship or comradship between soildiers. Also nothing indicating that Finn or Rey where preaching pacifisim or Rey was preaching accepting the call. There has been no follow up on https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/remarks.php?trope=Characters.StarWarsTheResistance&id=107421#107421
and I was wondering considering the trope is not valid based on the justifications. Should I remove it or take other action.
openNarm subpages
I noticed the subpages of Narm mark it as flame bait, but the page itself is only YMMV. Is this a mistake?
openRe: Horrible/FanFilm
Same basic question as my earlier one about News. How is Fan Film different from Fan Fic (or Web Original (which is currently open BTW), for that matter)? Stealth examples of both could be lurking there.
Edited by Theatre_Maven_3695openRe: Narm/News
How is News still allowed to exist? Pretty sure news examples are just real life by another name (and Narm is obviously NRLEP). Thoughts?
Edited by Theatre_Maven_3695openThere's a complaint disguised as a Tear Jerker entry On Sesame Street
Its all about how now Sesame Street has sold out and is now on the evil clutches of comercialism and that it should have ended this year. I was wanting to have people people look at that page before but didnt because it was just Narmy for me (SESAME STREET IS NOW ON HBO BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW) but I know that this time it really isnt kosher.

Can I move all the Trope.Video Game pages to Trope.Video Games?
'Cause the it seems Trope.Video Games is the canonical subpage style?
The ones that hold trope examples instead of redirects are: First-Name Basis, Most Wonderful Sound, and The Unfought.
... Is VideoGame.Video Game or Main.Video Game needed, when the other exists?
Also, can I cut Memes.Video Game, since it redirects to Memes.Video Games? Or is its 233 inbounds too many, to not keep, compared to the latter's 15,939?
Same request for Narm, but 223 to 5,963 inbounds.
