open Re-adding missuse with an incredibly rude Edit Reason and a potentially biased troper
So on YMMV.She Hulk Attorney At Law there was this entry
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The scene where Jennifer calls out Bruce about controlling her anger did not endear her to some. Fans are well aware of Bruce's troubled and traumatic past note undergoing a botched super soldier experiment that resulted in the deaths of some of his coworkers, being hunted by the US government for years, having to give up his relationships with Betty Ross and Black Widow due to his deep-seated fears of accidentally harming them, coming to terms with Black Widow's death, and attempting suicide at one point, while Jennifer is not, due to how (in her own words) Bruce has isolated himself from her and she's only heard the barest details until recently. Yet even if she is ignorant of the depth of his issues, and/or people understand where Jennifer is coming from, Bruce is the wrong person to be calling out over such (relatively) petty issues as catcalling and mansplaining.
It was decided by the Unintentionally Unsympathetic cleanup
. That is was a bad faith argument that misinterpreted the scene as she wasn't actually comparing tramas with Bruce like it said and bias attempting to Jen as petty when she wasn't. So I removed
it. Well General Horseradish re-added
with this incredibly rude Edit Reason, "what the hell do you mean "bad faith argument", it's literally how the scene plays out lmao" I also feel that they might be bias. As they also removed
a Nightmare Fuel entry that mentions the speech in a positive light. However, I could be very wrong there.
Now I don't care one way or another about the entry, but would like some opinions.

openA dangerous ROCEJ edit
This edit
on Artistic License – Chemistry was removed yesterday per the ROCE thread, and for very good reason. It closed by telling the reader to (and I quote) "Try inhaling an entire can of Raid and see what happens". The edit reason accompanying the removal had to tell whoever added that edit "Please do not write examples telling readers to kill/harm themselves" (which should be obvious). Who added that particular edit? None other than Bootlebat
, a troper who has already been brought up on ATT several times. The edit may have been removed now, but it was there for long enough that there's a high chance someone may have tried it in real life (and hurt themselves, or worse), so an edit like this cannot go unreported.
open Problem troper -- continuously misusing "negative" tropes on YMMV page for Batwoman 2019
Tropers.Annoyed Owl 225 continuously adds blatantly political edits with a right-wing slant and/or continuously adds complaining to specific works. He seems to have a pronounced hate for Series.Batwoman 2019. His latest edit was this one
in which he added Acceptable Targets and Unfortunate Implications examples complaining about the shows treatment of "Straight White Men". This isn't
the first time he's
added
complainy
tropes
about
that
show
.
Annoyed Owl has also come up in ATT a
grand
total
of
six
times
, not including this query. And one of his edits was brought up here
. He's a clear serial agenda-based editor, and particularly has it out for Series.Batwoman 2019 (most likely due to it starring a female, lesbian character and having a "progressive" slant).
He's also been suspended before for bad grammar and for adding
a "Well actually" form of Natter to an existing exampple.
openWoolooShepherdG-00 vs. Luigi Videogame
Quite possibly the oddest thing I've reported on, but...
WoolooShepherdG-00
seems to be editing on a "Death didn't rip Luigi's soul out of his body" agenda (in reference to an event that happened in Simon and Richter's joint reveal trailer
for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate).
Also for some reason they removed two of Luigi's aliases on Pantheon.Unpopularity so I have no clue if he's for or against Luigi ¯_(ツ)_/¯
openTroper adding subpar images to "Moments" pages
Larrythe King has added a whole bunch of images to numerous "moments" pages that are at least one of the following:
- Poor image quality
- Do not illustrate
- Inside folders/multiple images per page (which is no longer allowed)
Also, they have added "As pictured above..." on several pages, which goes against the rule of not referring to other entries on the page.
For just one example, take a look at Family Guy: Seasons 4 to 8. The edit reason states that the troper is adding folder images for seasons 6, 7, and 8, because there are already folder images for seasons 4 and 5 (which were added before the "one image per page" rule was officially implemented). Even disregarding that, at least two of the images have poor image resolution, and the one for season 6 is just a few people standing around, with nothing (not even a caption) that suggests it's funny.
Edited by Shadow8411openFrequent Unintentionally Unsympathetic shoehorning
TheBashfulTro
has shown a pattern of shoehorning in Unintentionally Unsympathetic entries to complain about characters they don't like, with no less than four of them on the same day. Their use of Weasel Words (i.e. "X has shades of this", "Y can come across like this") only serves to highlight how shoehorned in the entries are.
- Rugrats
, where they outright call the character in question "a massive prick".
- Mrs Doubtfire
- Alvin and the Chipmunks
- Dear Evan Hansen
, by far the most notable case, since the example is directed at reviewers who didn't like the behaviour of a certain character.
openConcerns Over Potential Vendetta
According to a post in the The Place for Purging Porn and Pedo-Pandering (AKA P5 flag evaluations) forum thread
, troper ~Soul Buy is misusing the Report Page functions to make reports on another troper, ~Time Knight for reasons unrelated to the P5 reporting.
I'm not sure what the cause of the issues here is. To the best of my knowledge, the only time these two have crossed paths in editing is on XMeetsY.Live Action TV Characters Kamen Rider Reiwa Phase 1, which prompted another ATT thread back in October
. The thing is, outside of indentation changes the edit history of that page is nigh incomprehensible to me, as its entries are less "X Meets Y" and more "X Meets Y Meets Z Meets AA Meets BB Meets ZZ Top Meets Ampersand" and every single name is potholed to its respective series.
I've sent SoulBuy a PM advising them of this thread to explain what's going on and what, if anything, TimeKnight is doing to warrant reporting. I'd prefer such information be relayed here than purely through PMs since reporting problematic tropers is part of what Ask The Tropers is for in the first place.
~Soul Buy, I forgot to mention this in my PM, but I very strongly advise you to be as specific as possible about what issues are going on. Due to the aforementioned nigh incomprehensibility, the last couple times these pages have come up because of issues with other tropers, nobody ever really spelled out what the problem actually was.
Edit to Add: The current Content Violation Reports (thank you mightymewtron) - https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/content_violation_reports.php
. Also, in light of information gained from that report (see below) I've sent ~Time Knight an edit reason notifier advising them of this thread and asking them to come here to explain their side.
There was a report about the troper mentioned in the report, Ken 10, back in April
. However, this ran into the issue that the one doing the reporting, The Pat, never properly elaborated on what Ken was actually doing wrong, just "making a mess". Ultimately it looks like Ken did nothing wrong and the reporting troper had page ownership issues. I had wondered at the time if Time Knight might be Meat Puppeting on Pat's behalf, as one of the posts in that report has The Pat state "All those edits [Ken 10] made are unnecessary to the point that an X Meets Y entry starts to get bigger and bigger. And Time Knight had to clean the mess up." and alerted the mod who closed that thread directly, but I don't know what came of that so either Time Knight was told off privately or I was way off base.
There may be something to the claims in the report of targeting a specific troper's edits, going by the edit histories of XMeetsY.Live Action TV Characters Kamen Rider Heisei Phase 2 and XMeetsY.Live Action TV Characters Kamen Rider Reiwa Phase 1
On the edit history for X Meets Y / Live Action TV Characters Kamen Rider Reiwa Phase 1
on 10/31, Ken 10 adds the name Kengo Manaka and a pothole to Deadman Wonderland
to one entry, and Ippei Mine to another
. On 11/3, Time Knight deletes those entries
.
In neither case does Time Knight explain the deletions via edit reasons. I confess between the last ATT threads and my own previous suspicions, I'm beginning to feel Soul Buy is right to report Time Knight, but went about it in the wrong way.
openYMMV examples deleted with no reason Film
Iris 2706 deleted
several
examples from the YMMV page for Descendants with zero explanation; the main thread linking them together is that the deleted entries all criticized main character Mal to some degree. However, on closer inspection, I'm hesitant to re-add them as is because some of them definitely fall into complaining territory. I sent them an edit reason notifier, but should I add the examples back in an edited form (since as far as I'm aware, Mal is something of a divisive character in the fandom), or just leave them alone?
open User with consistent rudeness and editing issues in the Pantheon forum
I'll preface this by saying I'm not sure if a report like this is too extreme, but this has been happening so regularly over the past few months that I feel I have to do something about it.
Hamana Hamana Hamana has been consistently rude and engaging in edit spats in the Pantheon part of the site, particularly against the user Nights Da Jester, whom they have had heated disagreements with in the past. The first big incident with them started when Nights suggested that a profile Hamana made be deleted
due to controversy regarding it, which caused a bit of a stir within the thread, particularly Hamana themselves
. Eventually, a reasonable consensus would be reached on them being deleted, and so Nights did just that
. However, after a few days, Hamana restored them out of the blue
before announcing it after, prompting Nights to react
, but other than that not much further action was taken. Until, 4 months later, Nights once again deleted the profile without consulting the forum
, citing how Hamana had restored the profile unilaterally. This caused Hamana to respond to it quite brutishly
. After one more big argument, the deletion was reinforced, which is how it remains currently.
The most recent incident, and the one that triggered me to make this report in the first place, was when Nights wanted to restore an old profile Hamana had deleted previously
under an open trope, which had been somewhat hastily deleted by Hamana about two years ago after one person approved of them getting deleted
, despite them and others encouraging them to find an alternative trope for them. When Hamana learned about this, he called them out once again on the forums
, with a rather random swipe at them
before it was edited out.
These aren't the only times Hamana and Nights have been antagonizing each other on the forums, as Hamana has been
calling them out
on the forums multiple other times for perceived slights, albeit not in the same capacity as the above-mentioned incidents. Somewhat unrelated, but I also noticed them refusing a suggestion for a profile they were making
on the basis of coming from a game which they didn't like personally. Additionally, this is far from the first time Hamana has been actively causing trouble on the forums, as seen by this previous ATT
on them. Again, I'm not sure if this ATT is too extreme for this kind of thing, and I hope I'm overreacting here anyway, but I'm noticing a common denominator in all of these interactions that I'm definitely not liking.

openLuanloudhouse Western Animation
~Luanloudhouse has some, concerning edits (and an oldish edit war to boot).
- The war is on a Recap page
for a Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated episode and involves them adding an identical Panty Shot entry twice with a two-year gap.
- And an edit
on the Jimmy Neutron show's page focusing on characters' underwear (filed under Comedic Underwear Exposure, but the entries as written don't seem to suggest any of it being played for comedy)

openMass deletion on Fridge/GrandTheftAutoV Videogame
I was checking Fridge.Grand Theft Auto V today and discovered that a large portion of content that I saw (and contributed to) some time ago was removed. I checked history and saw that the content was removed by ~Clear Air Turbulence over the course
of
four
edits
with the edit reason being it was mostly WMG or headcanon. The thing is that not everything looks like headcanon or WMG. I also couldn't find any discussion of this removal prior to the edits, so this all might have been unilateral.
open Slothed
Slothed has a habit of complaining, complete with creator bashing (as seen here
) and trying to sneak an edit past
"No Recent Examples" guidelines. On this page
alone, they've also had issues with tropeslashing and putting YMMV tropes on a Characters subpage.
I sent a complaining notifier (for an edit that was brought up and subsequently removed in the "removing complaining" cleanup thread, no less) and got a rather rude response in which A) they criticized me for not saying something sooner (when it has only just been brought to the complaining thread today) and B) they doubled down on their edit.
Edited by UFOYeahopenEditing Bias Videogame
Big Shot 1997 has done several edits on Deltarune pages (YYMV; Lightners; Three Heroes) that are questionable. They are clearly biased with Shipping Goggles, either removing or downplaying moments between the canonical pairing while pushing forward one that's implied at best; they tend to reference NSFW fan content, which is not only unnecessary but just gross since the characters in question are implied to be underage; and delete several tropes without explanation, such as Trans Audience Interpretation, LGBT+ Periphery Demographic or Lipstick Lesbian

I see this guy overusing this creepy description for female characters ALL the time. Every single character description that includes Ms Fanservice and Male Gaze he has to add this creepy description
"buxom breast, buxom body, high rear end, toned and long yet shapely legs" Somebody stop him before he jizzes all over the website.

On DCAU's Wonder Woman's Ms Fanservice section:https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/DCAUWonderWoman
-Diana is a tall, very beautiful raven-haired Amazonian woman who gets a significant amount of Male Gaze in the series due to the fact that she usually wears a strapless leotard that highlights her very large breasts, voluptuous yet toned athletic body, impressive hourglass figure, long toned yet shapely legs, toned broad shoulders, and nicely toned buttocks.
On DCAU's Black Canary https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/JusticeLeagueTheLeague
Ms Fanservice: Her character design has to be one of the most obvious example of this trope in the series through the fact that she is a very beautiful, blonde-haired woman who wears an outfit that highlights her voluptuous body, buxom breasts, long toned yet shapely legs, and nice rear end.
Male Gaze: She tends to get subjected to these, mainly via camera shots that are focused on her voluptuous body, buxom breasts, curves, nice rear end, and long toned yet shapely legs.
On Gwen Stacy: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/SpiderManLoveInterestsMs
. Fanservice: Gwen is a very beautiful blonde-haired woman who wears outfits (particularly skirts with thigh-high socks and boots as well as dresses) that highlight her very voluptuous body and nice legs.
openA whole lot of complaining edits Live Action TV
I just saw iamnoone's
edit
on the ymmv page of the Arrowverse and was mildly irritated by the blatant complaining and/or half-truths or outright falsehoods in that single edit alone.
Then I found this
. And then this
and this
and this
and I'm sure its not even the end of it.
I mean, don't get me wrong, these shows have attracted a fair bit of controversy, but his edits seem to basically boil down to overly long walls of texts complaining about "It's not like in the comics!"
Permission to (at least partially) delete?
EDIT: Yeah, found this one
too complaining.
openQuestionable Star Wars trivia removal Film
The following entry was removed by Phoenixion from Trivia. The Rise Of Skywalker:
- Creator Backlash: Oscar Isaac and John Boyega were both interested in having Poe and Finn become a couple due to their chemistry in previous films; Isaac would later publicly accuse people (whether referring to the filmmakers or the fans isn’t clear) of being “too afraid” to have a gay couple as leading characters in the franchise.
The edit reason given was:
Troper's personal page opens with a rant about how TV Tropes is "too gay" and that we "[shouldn't] blame [him] for being borderline homophobic!" (EDIT: As pointed out below, he also claims to block anyone who PMs him and immediately delete all messages without reading them.)
The first half of the edit reason is a huge can of worms I won't open, but the second half I disagree with; Lando's sexuality is never really on display in the film beyond some vaguely flirtatious mannerisms and only came from some ambiguous Word of Dante; the actors mentioned in the entry have been very vocally supportive of a romance between the two characters in interviews and Isaac's quote about how "people are too afraid" is real.
Edited by Dirtyblue929

Mechanicalman 450 has been causing trouble for the NRLEP thread recently by ignoring what people are saying, jumping the gun on adding things to crowners, and deciding things are NRLEP without consensus.
They claimed to understand what people told them...
...But I was checking to see if they were still making mistakes after an unrelated series of notifiers I had to send them, and I found them deleting swaths of examples
off of World's Most Beautiful Woman, and while yes they were technically told that the section could be "cleaned up" there seems to be no rhyme or reason why they deleted what they deleted and they did it after one single person replied to them and with no other discussion about the examples or any justification about the ones they wanted to remove.
It feels like they still haven't really learned much about waiting for consensus and actually discussing things with the thread. This is a step in the right direction, but... it's also two steps back.
Edit: Linked the discussion thread instead of their actual deletion, so fixed that
