Kelekona
left a review for Protectors of the Plot Continuum
, which is basically them importing personal drama from their interactions with the authors and not actually reviewing the work itself.
I flagged the review for drama importation, and Very Melon left a couple comments criticizing the review for that. Kelekona then decided to make a YMMV page for them, accusing them of being "pro-bullying". So now, this has descended into personal attacks against other users on the site.
Edited by chasemaddiganopenCurb-Stomp Battles of Death Battle Web Original
It's come to recent attention that the Curb-Stomp Battle page for DEATH BATTLE! has a lot of issues. The page lists a lot of fights as examples, to the point that literally every episode from season six is listed. However, the entries seem to only focus on the post-fight analysis that determined the winner and not how the actual fight played out. The fight itself could be portrayed as pretty even, only for the analysis to point out the discrepancy between the two fighters.
Even if the hosts explain the fight was actually pretty close, those matches will still be listed because the victor had the advantage, which seems like misuse. I tried to clean up entries
that were listed as "downplayed", but they were simply added back
with slight alterations that the hosts were just explaining the loser's strengths. I think the page should focus on the fights themselves, and not rely solely on the post-fight wrap-up. At the very least, the page needs a clean-up.
openTroper with Indentation issues, continue to do so despite being messaged multiple time Web Original
A troper by the name of AmuroNT1 regularly breaks the rule written in Example Indentation in Trope Lists.
For example, some past examples of their violations include:
Characters/HololiveEnglish - Oct 5th
- Fun with Acronyms: During her debut stream she lists one of her likes as PWWIE (pronounced "pwee-ay"): People Watching Without Intent to Eat.
- During a Fall Guys stream she attempted to turn her own name into an acronym. After several false starts, she settled on "Giant Underwater Rubber Animal".
Characters/HololiveJapanGenerationThreeFantasy - Oct 14th
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Downplayed, but Pekora does enjoy in messing around with anyone in just about every way possible, being quite the mix of a prankster and a troll at any given point. However, she's very very kind, and she keeps all the gifts she's been given from her fans.
- As Pekora's fans are quick to point out, her main goal in her pranking is to make her friends laugh, rather than being outright malicious like most trolls. To wit, when Rushia accidentally fell into Pekora's slime trap and lost a number of items including an enchanted pickaxe, Pekora's response was to leave a chest full of items (including a new pickaxe) on Rushia's doorstep as an apology, even though it wasn't technically her faultnote The fall, and subsequent loss of items, happened mainly because Rushia didn't quite understand how Scaffolding works in Minecraft.
Trivia/Hololive - Oct 30th
- Referenced byā¦:
- [...]
- The Ancient Gods Part One DLC for Doom Eternal contained an Easter Egg that changes the title to "DOOG Eternal"
, in a reference to Korone's Doom playthroughs; although it has since been deleted, the dev team was impressed at how quickly it was discovered and shared.
- When the Easter Egg was reported online, the official Xbox Twitter account responded
, making it clear that whomever was running the account was an X-Potato themself.
- When the Easter Egg was reported online, the official Xbox Twitter account responded
I have fixed the above entries, but seeing that these are only within the hololive namespace, god knows how many other instances they have done this in other works.
Their most recent one in hololive is:
Characters/HololiveEnglish - Nov 13th
- Heroic Self-Deprecation: While she's usually upbeat, she tends to beat herself up when she doesn't do well at games, especially if it's something she knows the audience is going to be more knowledgeable in. In her first stream of Fire Emblem: Three Houses stream, she almost lost the Mock Battle (as in, the second fight in the game), and only won because of her last character being strong enough to secure the win. She apologized heavily for it, calling herself "bird for brains" even as the chat told her not to worry note Given how she had never played a Fire Emblem game before, it isn't too hard to imagine why she'd have trouble.
- As noted elsewhere, Kiara claimed early on that her "only" talent was for translation and that she felt inadequate compared to the other HoloMyth girls. Since then, she's proven herself to be a very talented singer and artist, and comparisons to professional-level talents like Calli and Ina are doing her a disservice.
I have already messaged them three times about this, directing them to & informing them about the points mentioned in Example Indentation in Trope Lists and even explaining to them the correct way to handle these specific cases, but I've gotten no response whatsoever.
This issue has gone on for long enough and it doesn't look like they will give even a slightest care about this anytime soon unless something is done.

I think https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ProtonJon/
should return as it shows the personalities the co-coms use when commentating. They have been noted by Jon to act differently at cons. The personalities they show here are clearly in entertainer mode. Even his cat, Bagel, is usually not that desperate for attention as Jon usually doesn't talk to himself or ignore Bagel outside streams.
But I think https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/HoYay/TheRunawayGuys
should be removed. Jon finds it really creepy, and Chugga, while playing it up (because he thinks it's what the fan base wants), has admitted to finding it creepy too. They are real people with feelings, not some fictional characters you can play with the emotions of. Some people even got mad at Jon for dating Lucah because of this which is unacceptable.

On Nov 22nd, Ozwald Edswald added the following entry:
"Heidi herself would not escape this trope either. During the controversy many were suspicious of her accusations towards Jerad, feeling that some were baseless or contradicted already existing information. Later on these suspicions proved true and many of Heidi's tweets were revealed to be exaggerations and even outright lies. Then when it was revealed that Heidi had been abusing her husband, her reputation sank even farther than Jared's."
I removed this on the 25th, citing a lack of evidence. I then received a PM from Ozwald with a link to a reddit thread
discussing it, but I do not feel this is enough to warrant the entry since it is very circumstantial points and is saying Heidi's reputation is tanked even though there is no evidence to that. Ozwald readded the entry earlier today.
Just wanted to bring it up here for review since I don't agree it counts.
Edit: I responded to him with a link to this ATT.

openIssue with "Kayfabe" page Web Original
I'm really not sure which box this goes in and I'm asking more for advice and guidance - but this relates to the Kayfabe page under Real Life, and I'm wondering if according to tvt rules this is a legitimate entry. It relates to an online model called Lily May, describes what she does, and stressing this is not her real-life persona, but a role she plays for professional purposes. The links when followed, plus image searches, take you to what really amount to soft-core porn pages and in this light, the entry reads like special pleading for why an entry about a porn actress should be included on tvtropes; it doesn't read as if anything here is extraordinary enough to be included on tv tropes over and above "this woman is a professional soft-core porn performer and this is not who she is when she is not doing porn" - which is something any woman in the porn industry could legitimately state about herself?
So, does this contravene the "no porn" rule? I suspect it does and it's worth raisng here for a ruling.

openPlease help me compose a note Web Original
This might be yet another futile attempt, but I would like to enforce "Please state the character(s)" in Characters.SCP Foundation (the skips sheets, other sheets are doing fine). One major problem with them is that people troping someone else instead of the character in the header.
For example, SCP-5000 used to be filled with tropes belong to the Foundation (which has its own sheet) despite the SCP-5000 is (from the article itself) "a non-functional mechanical suit identified within its internal schematics as an 'Absolute Exclusion Harness' designed by the SCP Foundation."
This is likely stem from how the site march on with style. While many articles are named after the object itself, but some don't. (Although this isn't something new, although it didn't cause problem before because at least the object will be the center of the story. But many new articles on SCP Wiki are now a tale in skip guise.) For examples, said SCP-5000 is called "Why" while SCP-4000 is called "Taboo", neither is the name of the object. So I guess that's how tropers think "Anything is ok if they appears in said story.", and so we got purely narrative tropes list in character sheet (For example, here's one from Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 3000 To 3999:
- Apocalyptic Log: Most of what the foundation knows about the interior of the store comes from a journal carried by a man who spent several months inside before managing to escape, only to get killed by one of the staff shortly after.
Mind you, SCP-3008 object is an IKEA store as Eldritch Location. The journey is written by a man trapped in it but not the direct result of its anomaly, so the trope is clearly not belong to the IKEA store itself.)
I did add some "Tropes associated with X" to handful of skips entries because I think it should resolve some issue. People should at least aware of who or what they're troping and it can cover other one-shot character who's only has major role in one skip (for example, the aforementioned SCP-5000 has a good chunk of the story being about a character called Pietro Wilson who used that suit even if he isn't skip itself). The 3008 above? Troping "people trapped inside" (or the "store and people trapped inside") would allow that misplaced trope to stay with minor edit. Plus, that's how other sheet done. When troping a Stage 2 of video games, we add "Tropes associated with mini-boss" and "Tropes associated with stage boss" if they're stand out.
Unfortunately, it isn't done to all entries yet because, as noted, not all articles are named after the character and so I need to look up the article first (and with articles getting longer these days...). Also, even when it's done with the character's name clearly stated, some people just ignore it anyway and that's discouraging.
But lets try a gain, put a big bolded notification of "Please state the character before troping." on the top of skip sheet and see if it would help. Although I cannot write a good message and need help here.

openiDubbbz and Content Cop Web Original
So, I've looked on WebVideo.I Dubbbz TV to find that WebVideo.Content Cop exists. Problem is, I don't know if this page is troping real life. While Ian is certainly playing a character here, he's still going after real life people who've made problematic content on YouTube.
Be warned that there's quite a lot of mentions of hypocrisy in the examples I'm about to list.
- Dirty Coward: This is Ian's biggest problem with Leafy. He demonstrates that Leafy regularly directs vicious insults at channels too small to make a real retaliation, playing it off as praeteritio or feigning ignorance, only to whine about drama or people talking behind his back when insults of the same variety are hurled his way. As Ian puts it:
Straight off the bat, I want all of the newcomers to my channel know that I'm perfectly fine with bullying. Make fun of someone because they're fat, autistic, or riddled with acne. I don't care, make fun of them. I think my only stipulation with the bullying is that you have to not be a pussy.
- Hypocrite: most of the Content Cops rip on hypocrisy on the subject's parts.
- In "Busting Jinx Reload," Ian riffs on Jinx's watermarking his original videos so they cannot be reacted to, despite being a reaction channel.
- Keemstar's Content Cop points out his lashing out at Pyrocynical's light criticism of him, despite having made a career out of making much harsher criticism; claiming to not use Drama Alert's influence to bully, before subsequently threatening to reveal information solely to direct the Internet mob's vitriol at people who anger him.
- Leafy is criticized for making attacks on people's appearances, despite clearly being insecure about his chin; using Keemstar to boost his platform, despite Keemstar's many controversies being public knowledge, and only ending their friendship when the YouTube community turned on him; and whining about drama whenever being called out for bullying, despite having made a career out of insulting other YouTubers.
- Ian attacks Tana Mongeau for telling him to kill himself for using the N-word, despite having used it herself in the past and in a much more vicious manner than Ian, and for recording a stream of her crying at the negative comments directed at her for the inflammatory and hypocritical comments she directed at iDubbbz.
- Irony: Ian devotes a good chunk of the Jinx Content Cop to pointing out that Jinx, who has made a career out of Stealing the Credit from other creators by reacting to their videos, puts watermarks on the few original videos of his, something done to make sure copyrighted material can't be infringed on.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Rather, a "The Reason You and Your Channel Suck" speech. Content Cop is essentially a 10 to 20 minutes long version of this, but special mention goes to his videos on Keemstar and LeafyIsHere, who had their channels and reputation systematically dismantled.
"'Oh, you'll ruin my career, Keemstar? Good fucking luck. You're not going to ruin my career, you dumb piece of shit, and I've shown you why you aren't going to ruin my career; I'm smarter than you, you can't think before you speak, and I've never said this unironically, but I think this will be the first time I've said this unironically and mean it: kill yourself.'"
- Take That!: Content Cop tends to be this for the people iDubbbz criticizes, but he does throw in some pot shots at certain other Youtubers. Including himself.
- Content Cop - TOY REVIEW CHANNELS (GIANT SURPRISE EGG)
- In the toy box, iDubbbz finds a toy gun dubbed "Sam Pepper's Kill Your Best Friend Prank Gun".
- Content Cop - KEEMSTAR
- When recounting the Keemstar incident involving Pyrocynical, he describes Pyrocynical as someone who "sucked Keemstar's dick half the time".
- Content Cop - Leafy
- iDubbbz points out that Grade A Under A, along with the titular Leafy, is a hypocrite for using Keemstar to boost his platform despite Keemstar's many controversies being public knowledge and only ending their friendship when the YouTube community turned on him. That being said, iDubbbz does give them both the benefit of the doubt although this does lead iDubbbz to another conclusion...
iDubbbz: Wow, you guys must be great judges of character if you were surprised by Keemstar going behind your backs. GradeA and Leafy, complete fucking retards. Actual retards.
- Then, he mocks Scarce by telling his audience to only subscribe to Scarce "when Scarce's content gets better".
iDubbbz: Scarce is overweight, but more importantly than that, Scarce is boring.
- Content Cop - Jake Paul
- He calls Jake Paul an "obnoxious, arrogant asshole" before mentioning that RiceGum is an obnoxious, arrogant asshole as well.
- Content Cop - TOY REVIEW CHANNELS (GIANT SURPRISE EGG)
- "The Villain Sucks" Song / The Diss Track: He's made two of these, "Hey Now, You're A Keemstar" on the titular Killer Keemstar and "Asian Jake Paul" on Ricegum.
- Memetic Badass: He's built up a reputation of being one to mainstream Youtube channels thanks to his Content Cop series. When you see a popular YouTuber that is particularly bad or controversial, Ian is frequently cited as someone to tear them a new one because his series is just that detailed and well-researched and utterly scathing, often crippling the viewerbase and reputation of his subjects.
- In addition, Ian always knows how the YouTubers he is doing a Content Cop on will react and notes it in his videos how they will respond before the YouTuber in question responds EXACTLY as he predicted they would. Bonus points if he ends up doing a second The Reason You Suck video afterwards because the response to his Content Cop was just that poorly thought out.
- Moment of Awesome: Pretty much all the Content Cop content is this: Ian critiques YouTubers he feels are either being assholes/making the community bad/did something incredibly bad that they try to pretend didn't happen. Examples include:
- His slam towards Tana Mongeau after she said some rather rude and spiteful things to him and said he should lose his fans/break his legs all for saying the N-Word in an argumentative context along her own hypocrisy.
- Utterly ripping Keemstar apart for his attacks to other YouTubers for petty things, saying he doesn't use his platform to attack others but doing it and overall being a very cruel person to the YouTube community.
- As a matter of fact, when the video was uploaded, the biggest YouTubers (including Game Grumps, Jack Septic Eye, Pew Die Pie, and h3h3productions) were all together in a hotel and happily huddled around the laptop to watch the Keemstar Content Cop over and over again. Ethan of h3h3 compared the experience to watching Star Wars with friends for the first time.
- His video on Leafy and calling him out on bullying other YouTubers after the TOMMYNC2010 incident.
- The RiceGum video after he made some very hypocritical comments such as not recording people on his streams when he does and then asking for the same after smashing someone's phone at a YouTube party. It ends with a RiceGum-style diss track that includes a cameo from Pew Die Pie.
I feel like the people who wrote these entries endorsed Ian's views on these subjects, thus have made it the wiki's viewpoint. I just don't think there's really any way of troping these people without making it seem we have anything against them.
So what should we keep these on the stipulation that we're troping Ian's interpretation of these people, or cut WebVideo.Content Cop for attracting real life troping of his subjects?
Edited by PlasmaPoweropenI need help cleaning up these mess (SCP Foundation characters sheet) Web Original
Just to make it clear how bad it is, this is from Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 5000 To 5999
- And Then John Was a Zombie: In SCP-5000, The Foundation itself is the Monster of the Week.
- Alternate Universe: The SCP comes from either this, a previous iteration of the universe or the past before it was changed via Reset Button. In any case, the Foundation found no ties between the SCP and their still-living version of the employee that died inside the suit.
- Always Chaotic Evil: The cured Foundation personnel are unable to feel pain or sympathy and are nearly emotionless. The hidden dialogue hints that this is the natural state of the human race.
- Apocalyptic Log: The majority of the article features one, with data logs being the only thing still functioning from the SCP, that detail a Foundation employee's cross country trek in a world where the SCP Foundation declared war on humanity.
- Bittersweet Ending: Despite near-impossible odds, Pietro manages to reset the timeline at the cost of his own life. But since it's never revealed what the secret that caused the Foundation's FaceāHeel Turn was there's no way to tell if it will happen again.
- Also since the Eldritch Abomination inside humanity's collective unconsciousness hasn't been stopped it's still able to continue its unknown goals. At least in the new timeline humanity may have a chance of stopping it without resorting to genocide as now they know what happened last time.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: The SCP Foundation believe that the extermination of humanity is the right thing to do. Scant references imply that it's thanks to a discovery that humanity itself is abhorrent and anomalous. And if the revelation that a foreign entity gave emotions to humanity's collective unconscious in the past is correct, then humans as a whole are originally inclined to this kind of morality before the entity stepped in.
- Body Horror: Pietro tries to bury the corpse of a young boy, only for hundreds of worms with the child's face to burst out of it.
- Brown Note: Whatever the Foundation learned that made them declare war on humanity, it's something very dangerous for the uninitiated to learn. When an interrogated MTF member revealed it to his interrogators, it caused them to essentially be put in a state of perpetual screaming.
- Call-Back: To 2998. "Can't fit round pegs in square holes", can you?
- Clingy Costume: Pietro is forced to wear SCP-5000 throughout his entire trip. Not because he can't remove it but because it is keeping him as The Needless and invisible for his walk across the country in a world where humanity is getting systematically exterminated.
- Conditioned to Accept Horror: As his on-foot trek continues Pietro becomes more and more desensitized to the constant genocide happening around him. This doesn't help his self-image.
- Continuity Cavalcade: Over a dozen different SCPs get referenced in this article, mostly with reports explaining how the Foundation is unleashing them on humanity for maximum casualties. In addition, Pietro's goal, though he can't remember it, is putting SCP-055 in contact with SCP-579, the "square peg in round hole" scenario a couple of other articles reference.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: While the Foundation are eventually defeated by Pietro reseting the timelime their attack on humanity is an absolute slaughter. They easily destroy entire cities overnight, crush the GOC and Church of the Broken God's alliance and force the Serpent's Hand to abandon the universe.
- Death by Irony: Not literal death but the Foundation has their apocalypse reversed just like they had previously used a Reset Button to overwrite the apocalypses caused by all the other world-ending horrors.
- Eldritch Abomination: Late in his travels, Pietro comes across several Foundation soldiers fighting against a weird entity that resembles a human stretched across the sky. It is assumed to be the the foreign entity that invaded humanity's collective unconscious in the past and gave emotions to humanity as a whole for unknown reasons, and since the humanity that it controls is dying, it attempts to materialize itself to defeat the Foundation and to (perhaps ironically) defend the humanity that it controls at the time.
- Enemy Mine: The Global Occult Coalition and The Church of the Broken God are normally hated by the Foundation, but neither wanted humanity to be wiped out and occasionally cooperated as the biggest forces opposing the corrupted Foundation. Ultimately, it wasn't enough, with the GOC being wiped out and the Church crippled.
- The Extremist Was Right: After discovering a horrible secret regarding the truth behind humanity's collective unconscious, the Foundation ends up agreeing with SCP-682 that there is something inherently wrong with humanity...and deciding that eradicating humanity is the only logical step to spare them from this fate.
- FaceāHeel Turn: The Foundation as a whole undergoes one of these after discovering something horrible.
- Feel No Pain: While conducting purges of uncorrupted SCP soldiers, the Foundation would test them by stabbing them. Most had no reaction, while those who did were promptly killed.
- One Foundation scientist claims that humanity as a whole is not supposed to feel pain.
- Foreshadowing: This line from the interrogated MTF member might seem nothing at first glance but it hints at what the Foundation of SCP-5000's universe learned. It is the same line SCP-682 expresses when talking about humanity
Samuel Ross: ā¦disgusting.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Pietro manages to create a Reality-Breaking Paradox that restores the world, but in order to do so he has to jump into the pit containing SCP-579, dying on impact with the ground.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Three of these occur. The Foundation, which was created to protect humanity from world-destroying horrors, end up exterminating the human race. But then Pietro combines SCP-055 and SCP-579 to create a Reset Button that restores the world just as the Foundation had previously used the same method to stop an Alien Invasion. Even better, in order to do it Pietro needed the aid of an advanced armour suit the Foundation itself had created.
- Living Statue: Eventually Pietro starts finding statues of SCP soldiers except they have blades for hands, a permanent grimace on their face, and ability like SCP-173. They turn out to be frighteningly effective in killing people too.
- Oh, Crap!: Pietro could only utter a "Fuck me" when the Foundation released a global message revealing their existence and their intent to exterminate mankind.
- The Purge: The first people the Foundation killed were those of its own membership that had not been hit by whatever "cured" them.
- Reset Button: As in SCP-2998, combining SCP-055 with SCP-579 accomplishes this.
- The Reveal: Hidden text in the last image implies that what the Foundation learned to make them want to exterminate humanity made them essentially see humanity the same way SCP-682 sees humanity.
- It gets better! The hidden dialogue in the blank space between the final journal entry and the footnotes and the hidden implications in the article depicts that in the past, a foreign entity entered humanity's collective unconscious and gave humanity the ability to feel emotions like empathy...emotions which humans aren't supposed to be able to experience at all.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Unfortunately even though Pietro eventually reached his goal humanity was essentially exterminated by this point, he is left with no answers, and he could only make SCP-055 come into contact with SCP-579 by dropping from a fatal height, causing him to die before his remains were transported to the main SCP universe.
- Luckily reading SCP-2998 makes it more of a Bittersweet Ending. It's implied that Pietro really did reset the timeline to save humanity.
- ...but then potentially Double Subverted when one realizes that, thanks to this timeline reset, whatever entity the alternate Foundation found within the collective unconscious and was trying to fight by exterminating humanity is still out there, and now there's nothing stopping it from pursuing whatever its goals are in granting humanity empathy. Though since the Foundation has SCP-5000 now they may be able to rediscover it.
- Technically Living Zombie: The "cured" Foundation members are still alive, but feel no pain or fear and refer to those who do as "live ones". It's implied that they sacrificed some core element of their humanity itself thanks to discovering it to be unnatural and repulsive since it is assumed that humans originally do not have emotions at all (or at least not certain ones such as empathy).
- Was Once a Man: The Foundation as a whole. They still look human but definitely aren't. Even the personifications of Death can't recognize them as humans anymore.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The first thing the newly insane Foundation does is execute most of its staff with gunfire.
Obvious mistake like bad Administrivia.Example Indentation In Trope Lists and ZCE aside, I think the problem is how this is more like a work's trope page despite being in a character sheet (even the header named after the article, not a character or faction or something). And as such it troping several characters at once (mostly Pietro Wilson and the altered Foundation, despite how they don't work together), and include plot/narrative tropes. Seriously, if it has proper summary I would just move this to its own work page. But no, all it has is link to article and trope list.
This isn't just one case (please check the page's history, as well as other character sheets'), sometime they're bad enough that the folder say one name but all tropes belong to a completely different character or the writing gimmick of the article. And as a wiki, you can bet that this kind of thing will keep coming.

discussion in the "Is this an example?" thread led to the removal of all examples on TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.Web Original that involve reviewers bashing works/characters/writers they don't like or that were posted in the form of comments on YouTube videos, etc. In that thread, I noted
that the folder for the "commentary community" that used to be on the page seemed like a bunch of questionably valid examples dripping with drama importation, and everyone there was okay with me cutting them.
But earlier today, I found out that TheReasonYouSuckSpeech. The Commentary Community was made from the deleted examples in May 2020 by Blazing_Larvesta, with the edit reason of "Turning a deleted section into its own article. Really hope I don't wind up clowning myself here..." The examples are still pretty questionable, and they're still taking sides in internet fights, so can I cutlist that page?
Edited by SeracopenDoes This Violate No Real Life Examples? Web Original
I added an entry into Police Are Useless for The Last Podcast on the Left, but only afterward did I realize that the trope is in the No Real Life Examples, Please! index. I now have two questions: does the following violate NRLEP? If so, do I take it off the works page, too?
- The Last Podcast on the Left:
- The hosts often note times when police ineffectiveness is a major factor in how long a serial killer goes without getting caught. For example, in the Dean Coril series, they note the Huston police were underfunded and understaffed so much that, as a result, they actively avoided investigating things like homicides and shut down a victim's family when they provided a letter written by their missing son that they suspect was faked, but which Missing Persons took as evidence he was no longer missing.
- They also note occasions when a killer was caught by dumb luck or mistakes rather than anything police did. Leonard Lake and Charles Ng, for instance, were only found out when Lake was held for questioning for an act of compulsive shoplifting by Ng, and police never suspected anything serious until Lake killed himself while in custody.
The trope is discussed on the show, but on the context of real life events (which I included so they wouldn't be purely general examples).
If this does violate NRLEP, could I rewrite the example to state that the hosts hold this view and then describe a character they created, Detective Popcorn, as a way to mock them?
Edited by sgamer82openOverlapping character pages due to misnamed work Web Original
Transformers: War for Cybertron is sharing its character page with the unrelated Transformers: War for Cybertron because someone misnamed the former. The show is actually called Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy (also, I'm not sure if it counts as Web Animation if it's a Netflix original, since Castlevania isn't considered web animation, and War for Cybertron calls itself an anime).
Can I move it? And if yes, should it be to Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy or Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy?
open Complain-y edit on Twitter Web Original
With Twitter now doubled their character count to some users (I havn't have that yet as of 2017/10/01), as I was editing the page to tweak out the recent edit from a user named reterusu, I left out this part out of reluctance to remove it and had to consult to you guys about it first:
I think it's more of a Broken Base than a metaphorical shark jump for having 280 characters, (I myself kinda like that idea. 280 is more than enough to add more tags.) but I'll let you think about it more. I intentionally left that sentence because I thought to myself that removing that might start a potential Edit War.
EDIT: Changed some instances of "this troper" to "I to avoid confusion.
EDIT 2: I wasn't being clear here. My bad. The 'this troper' to 'I' edit" was for this thread only.
Edited by alnair20aug93openA Review Series that Doesn't Exist and some Possible Self-Promotion Web Original
There is a review series called Movie Dorkness on Agony Booth. The page for it, however, was littered with some references to a so-called ascended fanboy called the "Professor Detective". According to the edits, this person has their own review show and is a fan of the host of Movie Dorkness, and indeed, there's a page for said show. Only the show doesn't exist. The page for Professor Detective mentions a You Tube account, but I found no videos by any user under that name. It mentions a Tumblr, but I found no such Tumblr bearing that name. And to top it all off, the edits done to both pages were done by a user named Professor Detective. I edited out some mentions of the person in the Trivia page for Movie Dorkness, but I'm wondering if this is possible some kind of self-promotion for some anonymous troper?
Edited by AdricDePsychoopenApplicability Web Original
I was browing the YMMV.The Nostalgia Critic page and noted an entry on applicability.
" Applicability: Autistic fans have welcomed Critic with open arms, with Doug comparing him to similarly coded Peridot, and Home Alone 2 bringing back the cereal special interest, all the nerves from the episode resulting in a meltdown when it's mocked and getting forgiven when he stresses out over thinking he ruined it. Hyper Fangirl has her fair share of Misaimed Fandom, but her most devoted audience are neuroatypical women who relate to her struggles and want to see her get better (without Critic having to forgive her). "
I didn't know what applicability as a trope was until I looked at the Laconic page, but it says "Word of God asks the audience to make up their own mind about the theme." which doesn't seem to fit these examples... and neither do many examples on the applicability page itself.
"Prometheus was designed for Wild Mass Guessing. One moment of Idiot Ball could mean an hour of theorizing behind why it is so. "
"The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1962) was made long before global warming and climate change became big issues, but is still about climate change which has been caused accidentally by technology (simultaneous nuclear tests at the north and south poles change the tilt of the Earth's axis)."
"The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a case of confusing applicability with allegory. The connection between The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the then-contemporary American political landscape was not even raised until 1963, when summer school teacher Henry Littlefield, while trying to teach the 1896 Presidential election and the turn-of-the-century Populist movement to bored history students, stumbled upon the idea of using the characters and events of The Wizard of Oz as metaphors to teach the concepts. He and his students made a number of connections - the Scarecrow represented the farmers, the Tin Woodman the factory workers, the Wizard was President Grover Cleveland or Republican presidential candidate William Mc Kinley, the Cowardly Lion was Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan, the silver shoes were the silver standard, the yellow brick road the gold standard, and so on - and Littlefield eventually wrote an article, "The Wizard of Oz: A Parable on Populism," which was published in the magazine American Quarterly in 1964. You can read this article here. Unfortunately, this was eventually taken to mean that Baum wrote the book as an allegory for the political landscape at the turn of the century despite the fact Littlefield believed Baum had no political agenda when he wrote the book."
" Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid is open to many allegorical interpretations, as are its various adaptations."
So, what is applicability and are these examples valid/applicable? Should the Laconic page be rewritten?

As of today, there's a banner advert popping up at the bottom of the page that wasn't there yesterday - this is new. Seems to be organised by something called "PROPER<>" and however often you hit the X to whack it down and get rid, it keeps coming back and appears every time you switch to a new page. Click on whatever's being advertised, you get "ad closed by Google". Is this new to tvtropes, and how do you get rid of it completely, as it's annoying and intrusive? I mean - ad at the top of the page, ad on the right hand side, no problem, tvt has to get revenue - but ads spilling over into the actual content of the page itself - not acceptible.
