openOld vandalism Videogame
I was looking at the pages for VideoGame.Knights Of The Old Republic II The Sith Lords and noticed that in October of last year, Tropers.Fish1 vandalized the laconic page to a meme mocking the game's writing/themes. It was reverted by Tropers.Dimon a few weeks later but it seems it was never reported, and Fish1 is still editing consistently as of a month ago. Didn't notice any other issues from a skim of their edit history but I didn't look too closely.

9thOutworldsMan
has been changing all my edits for the Tales of Arise and Misaimed Fandom pages, most notably the edits I've made in regards to a very polarizing base-breaking moment in the game: the scene of Law stopping Rinwell attacking Almeidrea in blind hatred.
9thOutworldsMan is really adamant in insisting that the game intentionally paints Law as a hypocrite, that Rinwell calls him out for being one, and that the parallel the game sets up between Rinwell and Dedyme is a stretch. They had also removed any instance of the Vengeance Feels Empty trope in regards to Law, despite it being a general consensus in the Tales fandom that the trope is related to both the game's story and Law.
I'm planning on bringing this issue over to the Broken Base Cleanup thread as well since they also changed my edit on the Broken Base: Tales Series page.
openVery rude Troper Videogame
Reginald Ogron 5 has been making some recent sweeping edits to the Elden Ring page. He's currently trying to remove any mention of Mythology Gag because he believes despite From directly calling the games a series of spiritual successors with a ton of direct references to each other, it shouldn't count.
He's been very rude in PM's (I've resorted to blocking him) when I lightly told him of the error (and when he also tried removing examples of puzzle bosses), shouting, putting things in all caps, and his edit reasons are likewise inflammatory. Can someone talk to him and maybe ask him to be a tad bit more polite?
Edited by smogmonsteropenRegarding information on Character pages Videogame
About 2 years ago, many of the Hitman character pages were updated to include things like character nationalities and affiliations. I believe The10thGeek was the user who added the info. However, I saw an ATT enquiry the other day that suggested that this trend of nationality/affiliation info (which started on the MCU character pages) isn't entirely necessary. Should the info be removed?
openVic Mignogna/Persona 3 Videogame
Asking this here as there's no evidence of any discussion of the matter on the YMMV.Persona 3 discussion page, nor had the matter been raised here previously.
Vic Mignogna is a voice actor who had allegations of sexual harrassment follow him for decades before finally coming to a head in 2019.
In Persona 3, Vic Mignogna voiced the character of Junpei Iori, who makes several lecherous comments towards numerous female characters over the course of the game. Additionally, the Portable version of the game included an alternate story with a Female Protagonist, where Junpei's behaviour is escalated to outright sexism and he is directly called "the poster boy for sexual harassment" by another character upon his introduction, whilst the player is also given the option to call him out on his pervy behaviour.
When one goes to edit YMMV.Persona 3, there is a note saying not to add any examples regarding Vic - however, as noted above, there is no discussion regarding this matter on the discussion page or in any previous ATT. When you check the edit history, it seems that this was decided by one user (Metaverse) and several of their Edit Reasons for the matter include insults towards people for adding "Funny Aneurysm" Moment entries regarding Junpei & Vic. Whilst they do point to Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment in two edit reasons, I cannot find any evidence that they ever brought this matter up in this thread
so it seems that the entire matter has never actually been discussed.
What is the best way to proceed?
EDIT: Removal of red links.
Edited by ChrisDVopenspoilers in a mostly spoiler-free page Videogame
There are a couple of entries on VideoGame.Pokemon Gold And Silver that hide any mention of the game's second half in spoilers, even though most of the page talks about it in the open. Would it be okay if I removed the spoilers?
openStreet Fighter 1 YMMV Page Confusion Videogame
When Street Fighter I was turned into a redirect, YMMV/Street Fighter I got into a bit of a snag, as it was turned into a redirect for a YMMV on the series as a whole. Right now, there doesn't seem to be any subpage for the first game. It links to one, but it's a circular link. Was this on purpose or an unintended consequence? Am I just missing something?
EDIT: ...well, the page still exists, because I accidentally linked to it, but the confusion is still there. Basically, right now there are two pages called YMMV/Street Fighter.
Edited by LendriMujinaopenPolicy on sexualized trope descriptions Videogame
A troper has been making edits on the League of Legends character pages, particularly League of Legends: L, that are very focused on aspects of the female characters' bodies. I know we have a ton of tropes already pertaining to fanservice, but somehow these just feel a bit over the top in their detail, and I'm wondering if there's some kind of policy on where the line is with descriptions about fanservive and if something is too much.
openSmash Bros. Ultimate subpage issues Videogame
TearJerker.Super Smash Bros Ultimate has tons of pre-release tearjerkers, alternate character interpretation, speculation, natter, and Fridge Horror, as do the Nightmare Fuel page, Heartwarming, Awesome, Funny pages, etc. Heartwarming also has a huuuuge fan work/meta folder which to my knowledge isn't allowed.
All of the Moments pages are kind of a mess, and so is the Fandom Rejoiced page, and I have no idea where to begin.
Edited by lalalei2001open Rude troper deleting additions Videogame
Backstory: Ash from Evil Dead is being added as DLC for a game called Dead by Daylight. Here's the announcement trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIn-XB9QSM4
I added Ash to the character page for DBD only to find it was all deleted by a Troper named Troper Be Doper. This was his editing reason: "This could not be a more obvious April Fools joke. Look at the date* he's released for cripes sake. Deleting this."
- April 2nd
So I decided to sent a PM asking him not to delete it and that it wasn't an April Fools joke since it was officially announced (plus I heavily doubt they would waste money to get Bruce Campbell, make fully functional perks and model and have him playable at PAX East, including complete alternate cosmetics too.)
This was what I got in response: "It's not happening. This couldn't be more obviously an April Fools gag if they released him on the day. I'm deleting him come April 1st when this turns out to be a joke. Just you wait. And I'm gonna rub it in your face."
It appears that there's no report troper feature on TV Tropes so this seemed like the best place to talk about it.
I would have added screenshots of the PMs but it seems it won't allow it here. You can, however, look at the DBD character page editing history to see his edit where he removed Ash.

VideoGame.Yu Gi Oh Forbidden Memories has a serious Wall of Text problem. I've tried to trim down some of the more egregious entries but they keep being added to until they're at the original length or put back in wholesale, and sending a Word Cruft notification didn't do anything.

openBiased Troper (only in regards to Paper Mario, though) Videogame
DarkChirano
seems to have a hateboner for the recent entries of Paper Mario (that is to say, Sticker Star and Color Splash), often being quick to put in information that, while factual, attacks the game, or being biased on the YMMV pages. Although some of it is older, almost all of it is out against the games:
- From early 2016, calling Sticker Star an Obvious Beta for interesting reasons:
Obvious Beta: While the game doesn't suffer any intrinsic technical issues, several basic features such as a secondary stat/meter (which actually was in a beta) or a unique reward type for defeating enemies are not present. Action Command prompts are also missing in action, meaning the player won't know Things have action commands. The programming behind Kersti's advice is also incredibly simplistic, only giving advice by activated event flags, compared to the first two Paper Mario's guides giving advice by the room. This may have to do with the developers scrapping the game twice.
- Attacking the current developers (who made the aforementioned games) as well as producer Kensuke Tanabe on YMMV.Paper Mario (bolded is what they added):
Worse still, some interviews have stated that they've handed over the reigns of the "Mario RPG" completely to the Mario And Luigi series, so there are some serious concerns that, as long as the creative team of the eighth gen games stay in charge, the dork age will literally never end.As has been explained many times, the Toad species have become The Scrappy to the Paper Mario fanbase due to an overabundance of generic Toads with no unique names and no real differences beyond colours or certain outfits. In addition, Toads are almost the only NPCs in both Sticker Star and Color Splash, greatly contrasting with the sheer variety of NPCs that the previous games had. This isn't helped by producer Kensuke Tanabe thinking Toads are the only usable friendly species, nor the fact the other current producers and directors also believe this to be true.
- Adding in more hate for Tanabe as well as the devs on YMMV.Paper Mario Color Splash (once again, bold is a new addition):
An interview
with Kensuke Tanabe revealed that Miyamoto was responsible for the lack of original characters, which was one of the major complaints about the game. However, this same interview also revealed Tanabe went to Miyamoto near-immediately after becoming producer for Color Splash, rather than Miyamoto coming to him. There's also the detail he never mentioned trying to negotiate the character restriction down, even if he couldn't outright say "No".
Risa Tabata also got a fair bit of scorn, getting the same treatment as Miyamoto. This is mainly thanks to the infamous interview with GameXplain, where most answers were either really vague such as "I don’t know if I want to say a proper story–but we have a story" or saying that since there's Mario & Luigi, there's "no need for RPG elements", which caused a massive Internet Backdraft. But at the end of the day, she's simply an assistant producer and not the lead developer, and thus she doesn't deserve some of the hatred she got beyond that interview. It's also worth stating she's mentioned Tanabe's influence a few times. The game itself started development very shortly after the release of Sticker Star, so by the time fans began savaging the revamped gameplay style, Intelligent Systems had put too much work into Color Splash to scrap it and start over. Of course, that in turn leads to the question of post-release patches for mechanic tweaks, such as the ScrappyMechanics mentioned below. - Pointing out that almost every character introduced in Sticker Star "doesn't actually have a name-name" on Characters.Paper Mario and calling it ironic that there are only 5 Toads in Color Splash with real names.
- As stated by lalalei2001, blaming Kensuke Tanabe and Rise Tabata for the whole "making Mario & Luigi the de-facto Mario RPG series" mess on YMMV.Mario And Luigi.
- Continuing the hatred of Tanabe and claiming that he thinks Toads are the only friendly species from the main series on Critical Research Failure.
* The reason why the 8th gen Paper Mario games only have Toads as a recurring friendly species is because producer Kensuke Tanabe thinks they're the only allies Mario has in the main series, and has encouraged his fellow staff to think likewise. Even a quick glance towards early gameplay of several main series games quickly demonstrate the utter falsehood of this belief, with species such as Piantas, Nokis, Jibberjays and Whittles, among many others.
However, their non-Paper Mario related edits seem to have been made by a reasonable person, so I'm not sure what's up, which is why I brought it here.
Edited by MegaMarioManopenFE Fates YMMV Misuse? Videogame
Troper Gregster 101 added this to the Fire Emblem Fates YMMV page.
- It's Popular, Now It Sucks!: Similar to Fire Emblem: Awakening, many veteran fans are unhappy with the title overshadowing the rest of the series. Things got even worse with Fire Emblem Warriors, since the game disproportionately favors the newer games to the detriment of the older ones, and fans accuse both Fates and Awakening as the main culprits for being the games that brought the series into the mainstream.
I went ahead and removed it since this is just using one games YMMV to take a dig at another game, and that's not kosher. Wanted to see anyone else's thoughts just in case it escalates.
openUndo a large edit. Videogame
Troper Leid did a big overhaul of the Fate/EXTRA character page by moving all the tropes for the Fate/Extra Last Encore verisons of the character to a new section on the page. Their reasoning was to "avoid cluttering the page", but in doing so, has made the page huge and ironically made the page cluttered. Can I request an undo of it since going in and manually moving things back would take a good chunk of time? If not I'll fix it, but its far easier to request. Also theres no reason to separate the page that way since its an adaptation, if we did this, we'd have to do the same for all adaptions now.
openAnalysis Videogame
Analysis.Nier Automata was created and all it is so far is an external link to a video analysis. I'm unsure about what goes on an Analysis page and what the criteria is, so I wasn't sure what to do—the only other interaction I had with one was deleting a first-person POV analysis that was more speculation than anything.
What exactly goes on an Analysis page and what are the criteria for them existing?
open Internet Backdraft Situation on Injustice 2 YMMV Videogame
I was referred here as a place to put this to the attention of the mods.
There is something of a situation brewing in the Injustice 2 page. The game's story has some plot points that resulted in a Broken Base situation, and some editors who reacted negatively have been filling the page with rants and complaints under the pretense of adding entries, most of which have little justification for being there and some of which repeatedly insert incorrect information - which is starting to make the page look like something out of Darth Wiki.
Before, I attempted to remove the offending entires, but they found their way back. This time, I tried editing them to be more even and asking for discussion on the page and on the forum. I'm not sure if the page should be locked, but I'm starting to think it should at least be so for the interim. It's been taking nightly checks at this point, and I'm not sure the offending parts will not just be reposted.
Please note that this is not, as of yet, an Edit War situation. But I do think it has the potential to become one.

I sent them a notifier a while back, and, admittedly, their writing has improved, but they still make a lot of mistakes that have to be corrected by other users. openWould this be an edit war? Videogame
This was added to Doki Doki Literature Club! by Etheru on November 17:
- Anti-Frustration Features: There's a "skip" button that allows the player to fast forward through dialogue that they've already seen, which significantly helps to streamline the process of getting the Golden Ending for the game. It's also functional when Yuri kills herself in Act 3, since clicking through all of the garbage text takes a while.
I removed it later that day for being a non-example with this edit reason: "I'm not really sure this should count...having a skip button is a standard feature of visual novels, and in Ren'Py in particular, V Ns made with it include it by default—you have to deliberately disable the functionality in order to not allow for skipping. It's a bit like calling the save function an AFF."
A similar example was added to the page by King Lyger, and subsequently edited by them, on December 8. It currently looks like this:
- Anti-Frustration Features: If you load a save from a previous day, the game lets you fast-forward through dialogue you've already seen by either clicking "Skip" or holding down a key. The skip stops automatically when you reach dialogue that you haven't seen yet. The game also lets you skip through a part of Yuri's event in Act 2 after she stabs herself to death, which features nothing but strings of broken font characters.
The third sentence is a valid example, but the rest is essentially the same as the example I removed. I was going to remove that part again, but I thought it might constitute an edit war if I did, even though they were added by two different tropers (and I don't think King Lyger intentionally re-added a deleted example; that page has gotten a lot of edits).
Edited by MissMokushirokuopenQuestionably accurate Unfortunate Implications claim? Videogame
Most of the pages for Cyberpunk 2077 are currently locked due to the massive post-release backlash over the game's rocky launch, but I noticed this slipped into the YMMV page's Unfortunate Implications entry at some point and I'm wondering if I should request its removal in the Locked Pages thread:
- The game's cyberpunk credentials have been called into question with the fact that it is a corporate produced product where V spends a lot of his time actively working for the police, corporations, and rich clients rather than actively rebelling against them.
- The game's cyberpunk credentials have been called into question with the fact that it is a corporate produced product where V spends a lot of his time actively working for the police, corporations, and rich clients rather than actively rebelling against them.
There's a few things to note here. First, this entry appears to have been added in a failed attempt at starting an entire UE subpage for the game, which got cutlisted for a lack of examples (it had like, three total, and I'm willing to bet its creation was at least partially a bad-faith knee-jerk reaction due to the afore-mentioned backlash).
Second, while the source it's citing is legitimate, all three points it's making are... mostly wrong? They're all either exaggerated or misinterpreted, seemingly due to the writer of the article being uninvested in the gameplay and story. To summarize:
- While the game does have a number of side-activities known as "Police Scanner Hustles" which could be interpreted by someone not paying attention as you doing contract work for the Police, the majority of them are you using your illegal police scanner to arrive at crime scenes before the cops do, kill the perps, and steal any valuables they have on them before the cops can bag them as evidence.
- The only parts of the game where you can directly work for a corporation are the "Corpo" lifepath's prologue, where your corrupt boss makes you a patsy for his crimes and you get fired, a sidequest involving a film production corporation where you're more working for their lead actor than them, and the game's Bad Ending, which frames your decision to side with a corporation as a Deal with the Devil where you've essentially sold your soul for an easy out to your problem. The other endings involve you actively assaulting the headquarters of a major corporation.
- Aside from the corporations the only truly wealthy people you ever work for are a burnt-out rockstar desperate for a real friend, a pop star who turns out to be slightly psychotic, and a struggling politician - the only honest one in the entire city - and his wife, who are actively trying to change things for the better and help the needy. The sidequest for the politicians ends in tragedy and frames their efforts as pointless in the face of the corrupt, dystopian political system they're a part of.
I admit the article has a point about the game not having any profound or socially relevant themes in its main story, but to say that it actively endorses dystopic capitalism like this entry implies seems absurd to me. Still, the article is genuine and comes from a reputable source, so I'm not sure if it's really violating any guidelines.
