openCan Memetic Loser apply to creators? Print Comic
So I'm waffling on an edit I recently made that I realize might not be the right place for it. Nick Lowe, current editor-in-chief on all Spider-Man projects, has a reputation for just refusing to let Peter be happy in any capacity, to the point where I've seen a couple of Reddit threads joking that Lowe has a thing for NTR (anime fan term for Cuckolding) with the sheer amount of chaos that's been injected into Spider-Man's romantic life over the last few years, on top of some people disliking him dodging questions about a character getting Stuffed Into A Fridge at a comic convention. I don't see anything that says Memetic Loser can't apply to creators, and a couple of pages use it for the fandom, but I want to double-check.
openShould the All-New Venom Character Page Folder be made Spoilers Off? Print Comic
As people have continued to add the host's identity (Mary Jane Watson) to the Characters/VenomMainHosts page in spoiler tags outside the trope list, which goes against TV Tropes' editing rules, should the folder be made spoilers off (given it's going to be a Late-Arrival Spoiler in the comics going forward) and/or its contents migrated to the host's main page?
openLinks to unlicensed scans and translations Print Comic
ComicBook.Cybersix links to ebooks of the original comics, and an English fan translation of them. I'm quite sure that the fan translation should not be linked, but I'd like to ask about the link to ebookee.org. My browser thinks it a suspicious website, so I'm inclined to remove it too, but I'm wondering if they are in fact unlicensed.
openTransformers English/Japanese Names? Print Comic
I just saw the Mazinger Z Versus Transformers page and was confused when I saw that it used the Japanese names for the Transformers characters. I get that those were the names used in the manga's original Japanese, but is there a precedent about whether this page should use the English or Japanese names for the characters?
(Also, since this is a manga that didn't get adapted into an anime, I've put this in the "Print Comic" category. Let me know if that's correct or not.)
openStar Trek: Debt of Honor reversions Print Comic
Need to ask permission to partially revert a couple of changes on Star Trek: Debt of Honor, both to avoid edit-warring (I made most of the page) and because mods did them.
𝕋𝕒𝕓𝕤 deleted this example:
- Mixed Ancestry:
- As T'Cel explains, her mother, a full-blooded Romulan, was rescued from an escape pod as a child and mistaken for a Vulcan, as nobody in the Federation knew they were the same species yet. T'Cel, like Saavik, is half-Vulcan, but chose to rejoin her mother's people and embrace her Romulan half (whereas Saavik is shunned by some of T'Cel's crew for hewing to her Vulcan half).
- T'Kir is as well. However while the book openly establishes that she's of mixed race, and T'Kir is keen to learn more about her father's people, the clues as to what the other half actually is are far more subtle. It's heavily implied that she's Kirk's daughter.
I think I can use Non-Human Humanoid Hybrid for this.
Second, Septimus Heap changed "Part of Volume 2 of the Star Trek (DC Comics) series." to "The markup is: Part of..." while removing a wick to Needs Wiki Magic Love, which is just weird wording. I want to change that to "The comic is part of..."
openEdit War - ComicBook.RedGoblin Print Comic
Possibly confusion on both sides for this one, but it's turned into an edit war.
- Nonentity Z added
a second bullet to Mythology Gag on 16th July.
- I deleted it
today, partly because I didn't fully understand the point they were trying to make
- NonentityZ added it back
today, with an edit reason saying it was a valid example.
There may be a question to be answered about whether a reference to a Marvel Alternate Universe is really a Continuity Nod or a Mythology Gag (when it's acknowledged as part of continuity and characters can travel to/from it for Bat Family Crossovers, I personally think it's a Continuity Nod), but that shouldn't be an edit reason argument.

Edited by SynchronicityopenAvoiding potential edit war - AssPull/ShockingSwerve example (Spider-Man 2022) Print Comic
Checking here before making any further edits, as I don't want to start an edit war:
As part of the wider cleanup on YMMV.Spider Man 2022 (complaining, Content Leak etc.), I cut
two Ass Pull examples after seeking a second opinion about one on the AssPull cleanup thread
. The thread's pretty quiet and there wasn't enough feedback there for a real consensus, but it seemed to confirm my doubts about the example.
I left an edit reason suggesting that if tropers did want to add the same examples back,"Please check with the cleanup thread before reinstating".
KaneChin89 (who's been active for years but only has a single page edit history for that time) has now added one of the examples back
(with an exact copy/paste of the old wording) under Shocking Swerve, which is just a redirect to Ass Pull. There's no edit reason and no cleanup thread post.
(The example was originally added by PhyrexianAjani95, then heavily rewritten by nsommer659 - KaneChin89 hasn't edited it before)
Am I ok to delete it again? (I'll also link to this ATT on the cleanup thread, but - as before - not sure it'll get enough replies for a consensus there).
For context, this is the example:
- Shocking Swerve: The Reveal in #25 that Paul and MJ's kids are adoptive and just so happen to look like them. People immediately speculated that this was Marvel's attempt at an Author's Saving Throw because of the sheer amount of negative reception the plotline has been getting. The hint that her feelings for Paul are artificial as the result of a curse by Rabin also comes across as less something preplanned and more the writers trying to please the fans after all hate hoisted on the storyline.
openTearJerker.Mutts query Print Comic
TearJerker.Mutts has had some odd edits, with WandaBaby1990 adding an example for the Guard Dog story, then deleting it with a 'see below' edit in a later post which leads to nothing. I thought it had been deleted by accident, so I restored the deleted entry and also added context for the conclusion of the story, which is both heartbreaking and sweet, but they recently deleted the conclusion entry.

openIs this a rare case of red links that should be removed? Print Comic
Normally we're told that red links are not bad, that it's okay to link to a work that does not have a trope page yet as it encourages others to create the page in question. However, I wound up on the trope page for Action Comics where there is a list titled "Action Comics story arcs with their own pages include". Under this heading, there are a number of entries that are red links. I checked a few of them, and they definitely are pages that don't exist.
My question is, should these entries be removed, or at the very least, commented out? Since the title of the list specifically calls out "with their own pages," it seems silly to leave entries in that DON'T have their own pages. I wanted to check with the community before I made any changes.
openDoes this qualify as a stub? (Fall of X) Print Comic
ComicBook.Fall Of X has just been created. It's covering a set of linked works (for Marvel's X-Men comics) which comprise a larger Bat Family Crossover or Crisis Crossover arc.
It's listing the different works and has an intro that talks about the arc as a whole.
It's currently got just two tropes.
So... is it a stub? Or is it exempt from that rule because it's a list of related works as well as a thing in its own right?
openHow to format numbered bullets to not start over under a new header? Print Comic
Example: I have Sandbox.Bo Boi Boy Galaxy Season 2 in the (gradual) works, I'm considering listing the issues/episodes under either arcs or volumes, as listed at the bottom of the sandbox.
The issue is that when I place a header between two episode titles, the bullet numbers start over, when I'd like for them to still list from 1 to 27.
Is there a formatting trick to make this possible?
Edited by BlackFaithStaropenDid Slapstick (Marvel Comics) actually have Rubber-Hose Limbs in his 1992 design? Print Comic
Although his limbs aren't perfectly straight, they're sometimes seen curving like they don't have any joints at all. Also, in the Mutant X comic, Earth-1298's version of Slapstick not only looks similar to what his original counterpart used to look like in the 1992 miniseries, but he also looks like he's based on Sonic the Hedgehog, whose design is influenced by rubber-hose animation.

openAdding a Deconstructed Character Archetype page for Sonic the Hedgehog IDW Print Comic
So, I was wondering: would it be okay to add in a Deconstructed Character Archetype page for Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW)? It feels like the Deconstructed Character Archetypes with this series is growing each time a new character is introduced into the series and it seems like the many deconstructions done with this series is growing with each issue.

Edited by StrixObscuroopenJay Garrick: The Flash Print Comic
For some reason, edits to Jay Garrick: The Flash aren't being reflected on my "Followed Pages" list, even though I'm following the page and even though I just made an edit to the page a few minutes ago. In theory, it should be at the top of my "Followed Pages" list, but it's on the second page, and according to the list, its most recent edit was November 23rd. I've checked the work page itself and the its edit history, and those are both up-to-date. Is this a known bug?
openNo spoilers on a recap page... Print Comic
The rule that no part of a recap should be spoilered isn't valid just for episodes of a TV series, right?
Full albums of a comic-book series having their own recap pages are concerned too, I guess...
I'm asking because I noted that Asterix and the Griffin has lot of spoilered text.

We all know how powerful Superman is, but can he really be considered an Almighty Janitor? An Almighty Janitor is a character who nominally holds a low rank in his official job, but he is actually more powerful and influential than he initially appears.
In both the comics and the DC Animated Universe (which doesn't deviate that much from the main comics), Clark is a front-page columnist at a newspaper as famous as the New York Times and can afford a family apartment in downtown Metropolis, which means he probably earns a six-figure paycheck. Also, in Superman (2023), his wife becomes acting Editor-in-Chief after Perry White suffered a seizure.
So, what do you think?
