openUseful Notes page on character rights? Film
I'm not quite sure how to write this one, but should we have under the Film or Comics folder a Useful Notes page on character rights for things like movies, TV, cartoons etc. to avoid making Exiled from Continuity a Wall of Text and talking about the topic in general.
I know there's Exiled from Continuity as a main trope page, but this is more of a guide on how character rights work and negotiations.
I'm not as much of an expert on this as some comic-book fans on here but have the idea in broad strokes, but would welcome any suggestions on this.
openWhat category are pirates, ninjas, samurai, spacemen, knights, greasers, spies, etc? Film
These are all the roles characters may take in any medium, but its not a trope nor a stereotype since its not involving the character's personality, but instead a literal description of what they are. Woody and Buzz are Cowboy and Spacemen, or Cowboys vs Aliens with Cowboy and Aliens. In videogame or RP Gs these would usually be classified as classes but I'm not sure what the "term" is.

openMata Nui's character arc Film
Troper Kirby 0189 added Mata Nui's character arc to They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot in the YMMV page of BIONICLE, with the following context:
"Mata Nui's character arc in 2009's The Legend Reborn direct to DVD movie has some interesting potential. Having been betrayed by the leader of a rogue faction of nanomachines who were supposed to help regulate his giant mecha body in part because Mata Nui was too busy exploring the cosmos to figure out how to repair the shattered pieces of Spherus Magna as per his designated purpose by the Great Beings, you would think his crash landing onto an alien Mad Max-like culture and being a Fish out of Water with nothing to his name would have served for some solid character development with him learning to befriend those usually beneath him, which would be especially interesting given that Bara Magna had been set up as the inverse of the Matoran Universe. Instead, Mata Nui is already a Nice Guy and almost immediately finds allies to rather easily unite the tribes against the Skrall, with his former status as a Physical God being used mostly for brief mentions here and there rather than part of his struggle."
I have to ask: is this valid? Mata Nui is the main character and, by definition, he can't be wasted. What do you think?
openWhere is the psychological thriller "The Owners" page? Film
Anyway we could get a page made for the 2020 film, the Owners, starring Sylvester Mc Coy and Maisie Williams?
openDarkseid as an Adaptational Nice Guy Film
In the character page for Apokolips, Darkseid has an entry for Adaptational Nice Guy with the following context:
"If you can believe it! Normally, Darkseid is utterly intolerant of losing, and will often take out his rage on his underlings who failed him. And if not his underlings, then anyone who happens to be nearby. He will also try to get in one last parting shot if he knows he's beaten (see Dan Turpin's fate in Superman: The Animated Series). Not to mention, he also does not tolerate being questioned, even by his advisorsnote The DCAU version of Desaad met his end after laying into Darkseid for making a bad decision to attack Highfather. Here, however, when Steppenwolf's severed head is sent through the boomtube and the heroes stare him down, he calmly lets the boomtube close without making a move, and when Desaad seemingly gloats that he told Darkseid that Steppenwolf would fail, Darkseid acknowledges Desaad's words, before simply ordering that an armada be readied instead."
I have to ask: is this really valid? To me, this comes off as Adaptational Pragmatic Villainy or something. This is the same thing that happened when the Superman from the DC Animated Universe was labelled an Adaptational Wimp simply because he wasn't as astronomically powerful as comic book Superman or when the Batman from the DC Extended Universe was labelled an Adaptational Dumbass simply because he wasn't a borderline-omniscient super-genius as comic book Batman. What do you say?
openProm Night Film Series Film
So I’m trying to create a film page for the Prom Night Slasher Movie film series but I got redirected to the disambiguation page. Is there any way to launch a page for the films without being redirected to that page?
Edited by k410renopenQuestionable YMMV Wording Film
YMMV.Jason And The Argonauts has some complainy entries for Narm and Took the Bad Film Seriously. I don't know if it's accurate or not, but should they be commented out or removed (haven't seen the movie so I can't reword them)?
open Captain Marvel - is there a trope for this? Film
What trope (if any) covers the following scene in Captain Marvel?
Danvers and Fury are sitting together trying to prove to each other they're not Skrulls. Danvers decides to demonstrate her photon blast as proof, at which point Fury points out that it proves nothing - for all he knows, every Skrull can do that.
I feel like there's an obvious trope for this situation, but I can't think of it, and a quick of the work's page didn't turn up any references to this scene. Ideas?
open Unintentional Wimp trope? Film
So, I wanted to put in a trope about how Cole from Mortal Kombat 2021, despite being the main character and The Chosen One in this universe, can't actually defeat anyone without help. In every one of his fights, he's needed somebody else to intervene or else he's defeated. I can't use Adaptational Wimp because he's made specifically for that film, I can't use Badass Decay because he wasn't exactly a badass to begin with, and as far as I know, there's no Unintentional Wimp trope. What would be the proper trope here?
openRepair, Don't Respond problem Film
Live-Action Films: The Space Mutiny example under the Mystery Science Theater 3000 heading has a reply arguing with the main entry. I don't know anything about the character to fix it. Started a discussion on the discussion page.
(There's also a discussion about making the Mystery Science Theater 3000 entries their own page.)

open Need help naming mid 80's - 90's movie/tv show Film
Please I need help naming this movie/tv show it's driving me mad. I'm 80% sure it's a movie. Anyway here is what I remember. I think it was made in the mid 80's into the late 90's sometime it's been years ago I seen it. I feel like it happens in the south but not sure as the murder happened years ago at the time of the movie maybe 20-40 years had passed. I think the main character is a lawyer (thou believe me you won't find it googling lawyer movies) but could have been a cop. I just remember the scene when he finds out he has held/been in the room with the murder weapon many times over the years. What I do no is the father-in-law (not 100% on the father-in-law part could have been his mentor father-in-law feels right thou or even both) who may or may not be a judge/lawyer. Has the murder weapon a gun (a rifle of some kind) laying around his office. If I remember correctly it was even used as a doorstop on occasion (during parties and such). 100's of people have seen it and never connected it with the old murder case. I can't remember who was murdered but feel it was a black person or people and the murder was maybe racially motivated. A scene I also remember clearly which may or may not be in this movie (could be a completely different movie) is a black girl walking down a long (dirt) road she was either raped and/or beaten and/or maybe was a witness to the murder but didn't tell. MOVIES that it is not as I have already watched them in the last few days. A Time to Kill, The Rainmaker, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Client, The Chamber and Mississippi Burning.
openDisable replies to my Reviews / permission to delete replies Film
I get a lot of malicious and verbally attacking replies to many of my reviews of movies.
I can't just give a positive review out to every movie there ever was made - I also want to be able to express my own honest opinion of said fictional work. Not everything I write down in my reviews is a fact, I also put down a lot of my own sentiments.
I'm not violating community guidelines when I write these movie reviews down - but I get denigrated a lot by multiple reviewers hostile towards me.
Am I supposed to just ignore their replies or can I also delete their replies to my reviews?
Edited by Khrunwahl02open Unknown movie !!!! PLEASE HELP Film
This movie is old looking and cartoonish (animated). It’s in color, but it looks likes it’s made in the 1900’s. It is about animals , including pretty sure it’s mostly rats and mice. They are in battle and one side is super evil. The other side In this castle, and there’s some monk looking animal too. He is on the castle side. Hewears a brown robe. There are no humans in this movie. The animals are not exotic animals like lions or cheetahs. They look mostly like regular mice and rats. I think. It also takes place in a woody area. It’s not that well known of a movie. Thanks if you know it !! I Need to know the name of them movie!! Thanks!!
open Unknown cartoon Film
So a while ago I watched this tv show about wizards and fairies. It was a cartoon. The style reminded me of the show, ever after high. It was set at a magic school. It was kinda like a magic school. Someone please help me I can’t find this show
Edited by Xxcherryxxopen "Quit buggin' me!" said with a scary face Film
You know when there is a TV show or movie—comedy, usually—with a character who is either secretly supernatural or not very overtly magical, proooooobably evil, and are being irritated constantly—usually by a dog, barking because it senses evil—and so, when nobody is looking, they whip around and make a HIDEOUS monster face and roar, sending their antagonist fleeing... Then they turn immediately back to their human companion(s) as if nothing happened, and nobody noticed.
WTF is that particular trope called?
I thought it might've been "Nightmare Face" at firs, but the description doesn't fit...
open What’s this show called? Film
I only saw the pilot. It’s a younger couple, and I think they had just gotten married. Then on the honeymoon, or shortly after, the new husband wakes up and his wife is gone. He finds a video in the freezer of her saying to not look for her, that there’s no money, etc. Then he’s freaking out to figure out why that happened. Then it cuts to his brother in an airport hitting on a hot girl, and then he finds discovers that it’s actually his brothers wife in a disguise.
WHATS THIS SHOW CALLED!

I recently had this page locked while creating it. Do pages get locked if we save our edits too many times in a short span? Or is there another reason?
Its my first day as a site contributor so let me know for the future!
