openComplaining? Anime
Applenyan added the following entry in YMMV.Yu Gi Oh VRAINS:
- Arc Fatigue: The second season suffers badly from this. For one thing it's the longest season and arc in Yu-Gi-Oh! to date having a grand total of 56 episodes. Another thing is the pacing for the season was rather poor for most of it. The first half of the season took way too long to properly introduce the plot and while the second half improved pacing, it felt as some duels were way too long or not as long as they should. Also not helping matters is for the entire season using the same opening "Go Forward", but unlike previous series didn't even bother to update the visuals despite them being way outdated by halfway in the season.
Seems complainy based on how the example's written. Was thinking about taking it down, but wanted to get some input here first.
Edited by Tenma-YuukiopenjouXIII violating "most recent localized name" policy Anime
After their edit on the recently launched Muggle with a Degree in Magic, I checked jouXIII's edit history
and noticed they have been going around editing Anime.Pokemon examples on trope pages to put the Romanized Japanese names of characters in front of their localized names (ie. Satoshi/Ash, Nyaasu/Meowth), or outright replacing them altogether. I sent them a PM about how TV Tropes uses the most recent localized names, but in the meantime could I have some help with reverting their edits?
Edit: Spotted some VideoGame.Pokemon and Anime.Digimon examples too. They're not even consistent, for example on Our Wyverns Are Different they changed the names in one example but left the name in example above it. Edit: Oops that was added by someone else after their edit.
Edit: They hit Manga.Dragon Ball, Manga. One Piece, and Anime.Yu Gi Oh examples too. And so far every edit of theirs I've looked at is along the lines of removing official localizations and nothing else.

openShould this be removed from the Gundam YMMV? Anime
I've noticed this particular example while I was browsing:
- Americans Hate Tingle: The Gundam franchise is very unpopular in Brazil, since most of Brazilian anime fans dislike mecha series. The only anime aired in the country was Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz OVAs during the beginning of the 2000s in the Cartoon Network, but it was clearly overshadowed by other animations like Dragon Ball Z, Rurouni Kenshin and YuYu Hakusho in the channel. Even the Brazilian fansubs don't have interest on it, most of them don't bother subbing any of the series that came before Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
Speaking as a Brazilian myself, I'd like to clarify some things:
- I really don't know where this supposed mecha stigma came from, even other shows like Code Geass have a solid fanbase in the Otaku community of the country.
- Wing was in fact overshadowed by other animations, but the franchise never aired again in all of Latin America; Seed was planned to air in the country alongside SD Gundam before it was licensed and Wing itself was even revisited by another TV block not affiliated with Cartoon Network.
- All pre-2000 Gundam shows are available and are easy to find thanks to fansubs made by devoted fans, gaining a small but dedicated cult-following in the process. In recent years, the modern Gundam shows are much more popular than their predecessors and are enjoyed by many in the community.
So yeah, It's certainly not "hated" or "very unpopular". This section was noted by another Brazilian troper a few years ago, who had this to say: "As an actual brazilian anime fan, I think that this post is making things sound worse than they actually are. And the "most of series are either not subbed or dropped" part is factually incorrect. Big fansubs groups may have not subbed Gundam anime before Seed, but smaller and specialized groups did it."
Edited by TheMadCr0wopenPeculiar edits on words Anime
This troper, lugia1, has been making edits on Pokémon, in which they replace the é with a regular e. It might not seem as much as a big deal, but I'm reporting this out of consideration for those that are strict about formatting. This goes from both the Pokémon section and To Be a (Miraculous) Master.
Here's a link to their edit history: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=lugia1
On top of that, I looked further into their history as they also been removing Trope links on words and took apart Trope Name (added spaces to turn them into regular words) for no reason.
Edited by SeptimusHeapopenWhat names should the Kirby anime page be using? Anime
I noticed that some parts of the page were using the Japanese names, and others the English names. Don't we just use the English ones by default? I thought I heard someone here saying we should stick with one set of names when it comes to anime.

Full Question: Why this human posture (Butt in the Air/ Knee-Chested Posture) is not in tvtropes.org? Please make it have a page in it.

This posture is almost present in Cartoons, video-games.... heck alot in anime nowadays for laughs. sometimes for *ahem arousement...
openAn example or shoehorned? Anime
Several pages for The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You reference a certain event as an example of Moving the Goalposts.
The event in question has a ramen shop owner come up with hard-to-eat "challenge dishes" and main characters completing them, repeating for several days with different kinds of difficulty (spicy, hot, steamy, etc.).
This looks like a non-example to me. As far as I understand the trope, it's about changing the rules and acting like the challenge wasn't actually beaten, while in this case the owner admits defeat and comes up with new challenges.
Edited by OneMoreopen Edit War on Love of Kill Anime
I swore to myself I was going to avoid this page from now on but I need to report myself and another troper for edit-warring. Back in January I added the following example to Love of Kill (and admittedly with an unnecessarily rude edit reason because I was furious at having wasted my lunch break watching it, thinking it would be similar to SPY×FAMILY).
- Sexual Extortion: Song (AN: male lead) spends the first episode (or first few manga chapters) extorting a "date" from Chateau (AN: female lead) in exchange for information she needs for her day job and only manages to not actually rape her because she finally musters the nerve to actually leave the hotel room he takes her to at the end of it. He still manages to force a hug on her before she gets on the train to go home.
This example was first modified due to a factual error in the original version (perfectly okay), and then deleted outright by Ominae (not okay). I re-added it, and then immediately realized I was edit-warring and posted on the discussion tab
. I fully admit I blew it.
Without checking the discussion tab or taking note of the legal definition of sexual harassment, Ominae removed the example again.
I freely admit that I was unnecessarily rude and have an irrational hatred for this series (I consider it to be the best fantasy for incels since Redo Of Healer), but everything in the example is factually correct.
openhow do spoilers on videos work? Anime
if i want to add a video that contains the death of a major character in a series, does it just go unspoilered?
openFolders/Sections on the Shonen Jump page Anime
I'm not going to mince words on it: I think the Shonen Jump page is a complete mess, namely all of the folders and sections in the middle of the page. IMO there's way too many folders, too many gigantic folders, a bunch of weird placements that don't make intuitive sense, a bizarre Adaptations section, etc. I don't know when exactly this happened (based on the Discussion page this has been sitting like this since ~2019) but I do remember the older version of this page from years back and while it wasn't necessarily perfect it was significantly more usable than the page in its current state.
I'm bringing this up here to at the very least draw some attention to it and get some responses and feedback on what should be done before proceeding on anything. Cleaning it up would be quite a bit of work for me to do by myself/on a single go so I would appreciate any help with it, and I'd like to get some consensus on a few things with it as well. Biggest part would be addressing some of the sister mags; while most of the folders are IMO superfluous I do think some are at least worth highlighting given the overlaps involved (for example Viz's Shonen Jump app pulls from Jump+, Jump Square, and V-Jump).
openReplacing images in multiple pages Anime
So I would like to replace two images that belong to two different pages: Toji Fushiguro's in Characters.Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Spirits And Curse Users and Riko Amanai's in Characters.Jujutsu Kaisen Others. Namely, I want to replace their current images, which are from the manga, with their official anime artworks. I know this likely isn't a free change since the replacement images are not the same as the originals, so I would require permission to change. However, I am unsure about how to make this change happen. What do I do if I want to replace images in more than one page? I have a feeling it might be in Image Pickin', but I don't know exactly where it is.
Edited by Excessive-MenaceopenUrusei Yatsura edit war Anime
On Trivia.Urusei Yatsura (edit history is here

openJojo character pages edit Anime
Troper AM_NK has been adding the following header to all the Jojo Bizarre Adventure character pages in the last few hours.
See the following pages for these character-specific tropes:
- Adaptation Dye-Job
- Dub Name Change
- Famous Last Words
- Hate Sink
- Heart is an Awesome Power
- Jerkass
- Logical Weakness
- Nice Guy
- Story-Breaker Power
I think it doesn't really fit in. Anyone else agrees? Or what do you guys think? I don't even know if this is actually allowed, as I have never seen in on any other page, AFAIK the dropdown menu does enough in helping tropers browse through the multiple sections.
Edited by Edgar81539openSorting anime films Anime
Minor example sorting disagreement in TLP: Should anime films (e.g. Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor: The Movie) go in Film — Animated folders like western animated films (Shrek, Toy Story), or in Anime and Manga? For the last while I've been thinking the latter should be mainly for serialized works.
Edited by StarSwordopenManga/SailorMoon question Anime
I have a question. While the recent official English translations of Sailor Moon (i.e. the ones regarding Kodansha Comics and Viz Media) use the Sailor Guardians moniker and the Tokyopop translation uses Sailor Soldiers, should we use the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Soldiers or Sailor Senshi for the sake of consistent character name spelling?
openNeed clarification on SugarWiki and YMMV pages Anime
I've begun editing the YMMV page for Kill la Kill again for the first time in forever, and I've stumbled into 2 fundamental questions while I'm on it.
- Shouldn't Subbing Versus Dubbing be considered as a No Examples, Please, given its prominence?
- Sugar Wiki audience reaction are completely off the YMMV page if they're already listed on their respective Sugar Wiki page/subpage, right?

openAction Girl entries in Fairy Tail character sheets Anime
Hello. I have a quick question regarding the Action Girl entries in the Characters.Fairy Tail character page. If there is a ruling about whether the trope in question should be de-wicked, should these entries be deleted or merged?

I've seen a lot of these all over the place on the Internet talking about this character named Chris Thorndyke. https://www.thetoptens.com/worst-sonic-characters/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEopDzaZzrU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8sLrHzl2og
I'm somewhat of a Sonic fan, but I haven't really seen any of the cartoons because they haven't really caught my eye, and I already have tons of shows that I'm currently watching that I can't really check them out. According to TV Tropes, he's hated because he's a Creator's Pet, but all these websites state that he's a spoiled brat who obsesses over Sonic more than Amy, and he's a gay furry lover who has a crush on Sonic. Does that sound like an example of Ron the Death Eater?
