openFridge rules page?
I just deleted a Fridge Horror entry "One shudders to imagine what PTSD nightmares are awaiting the surviving characters." I know that sort of thing has been discussed on the forums before, and it's disallowed on the same level of "imagine if she hadn't dodged and had been killed" Fridge Horror; the text isn't directly leading to that conclusion, it's a pure hypothetical. I'm just having trouble finding where the rules actually got written down. It's not on the page in question. Or hey, maybe I'm wrong and that's a valid example.
The page was Fridge.Arcane, for the record.
openAsh’s Bayleef, Quilava, and Gible suffering their “Not Allowed to Grow Up” trope? Anime
Did Ash’s Bayleef, Quilava and Gible suffer their Not Allowed to Grow Up trope as the writers refused them all to middle-evolve and/or fully evolve into Meganium, Typhlosion, Gabite and Garchomp, while all his Water-type Pokémon, other than Kingler, suffer their same trope prior to his Frogadier having fully evolved into Greninja already?
Edited by TheMattthewsesopenAdding a trope
I was thinking about Wicked and wondered if Nessa would fit as a downplayed example of a Sympathetic Slave Owner. She’s shown to have taken Boq as a slave and stripped the munchkin’s of their rights and while she is treated with some form of sympathy, she’s also shown to be a cruel dictator in universe.
openSpoiler Policy thread
In the Violations on the Spoiler Policy thread, I asked
NicMasterTrope to be patient with their requests on a consensus on what to do with the spoilers for the Fairy Tail character pages after I brought the troper's edits up on this ATT query last week
.
However, the troper bumped the request again
today since they received no response on the dedicated FT CSP thread
, despite another troper asking if it should be a matter for that particular CSP thread.
Thoughts...?
Edited by gjjonesopenPossibly disruptive user
On Characters. The Amazing Digital Circus Players, WELLBEBACK 7653 has made 3 edits changing the label of the hidden spoiler image in Kaufmo's folder to "NO WAY OUT", except that label only makes sense if you've already watched The Amazing Digital Circus, so the phrase by itself is a revealing spoiler. I'm asking if anyone can revert that change.
I'm aware that there's a previous ATT query
about this troper, so we may need to check their other edits.
openRemoving The Dinotopia Redirect
So there's a Series redirect to Dinotopia and I'm wondering if we can remove it, since both the miniseries and TV series now have their own pages?
openWeird formatting Anime
The Anime subpage of Cross-Dressing Voices is formatted differently from the other subpages. It starts with voice actresses who are known for this and then goes to specific examples. Should I change it to be more consistent with other subpages?
openDo I need to start image pickin' threads for non-main images?
I was about to change the images for Presidents of the Fifth Republic in The Presidents of France, but now I'm wondering if I need to start an image pickin' thread.
The images wouldn't be the main image (or even the first). Would they still require a thread?
openAverting edit war in Film/Anora Film
Mild spoilers for Anora
- There is a side character, Igor, who appears to be the exact opposite of the protagonist (Anora), but turns out to share a lot in common with her
- Anora manages to move into her new husband's mansion, which is far above her class status (she is a lower-class stripper/hooker)
- It is noted that Anora would never in a million years be able to afford such a thing
- Igor lives in an affluent neighborhood that is specifically noted that he would not be able to afford in a million years (he's a ESL gopnik enforcer for Ivan's extremely rich family)
- There are more similarities that pop up (they both do illegal jobs, they both are way out of their depth, they both come from similar backgrounds, they both are left to clean up the mess of Anora's husband, Ivan)
- Later, Ivan's mom legally threatens to destroy Anora if Anora tries to sue about her trying to annul her and Ivan's marriages; as she recounts all the ways she can do this, she stares Igor down and gives him a sarcastic wink. Igor looks extremely uncomfortable as she does so
- It was earlier implied that Igor is forced to do this job, just as Anora is forced to play along with her husband's mom's threat or get legally destroyed
Separately: the turning point of the film is marked by Ivan running from the house when his parents hear of his wedding to Anora and send Igor and two other family enforcers to try and annul it, ignoring Anora calling to him as he flees
I wrote that it was Foreshadowing that Ivan is actually a shitty husband and it is specifically noted by one of the enforcers that him running is proof enough
Whoseline 198 removed my addition without an edit reason; when i added it back with some clarification and a notice for Example Indentation they removed it again
Not sure how to proceed
Edited by MsOranjeDiscoDanceropenChanging Media Page Title Web Original
How would one go about submitting a request to change the name of a media page? Disney Villain Songs (Lydia the Bard) should be called "Disney Princesses but They're Villains", as that is the name she gave the series on her You Tube channel[1]
, or "The Villain Series", which is what she refers to it as on her official website[2]
.
openMass "similar characters" misuse? Western Animation
I've been planning on doing a general clean-up on both the main and character pages for Ghost Force, and there's a particularly big issue I noticed that I wanted a second opinion on. Specifically, I noticed a lot of usage of "character X is similar to character Y" tropes (Expy, Suspiciously Similar Substitute, Corrupted Character Copy, etc.) on the page that feels incredibly misused. Most if not all of them seem to be under the assumption that, since the same company produced both, all the Ghost Force characters are copies of Miraculous Ladybug characters to some extent just because they share appearances and/or character traits. I'm pretty sure that the tropes are being misused, but I wanted to double check here before removing them.
open"Media Franchises" folder
Was on Elite Agents Above the Law and discovered ~Clancy Gardener had lumped all the examples for Marvel and Star Wars into a single folder titled "Multimedia Franchises". Last I looked this wasn't kosher. Am I right?
openEdit War
On YMMV.Life After Dinosaurs, Little Das 75 added and then immediately removed some context from a ZCE Awesome Music entry. Nitro Indigo commented it out as a ZCE, Urania 1204 uncommented it without an edit reason, Arctimon restored the ampersands citing it not having context, and Urania re-uncommented it, again without an edit reason.
Urania's edit history also shows some grammar, formatting and punctuation issues in their edits.
openHow to make a tvtrope page for a story Videogame
How do I make a page for a fanfiction story? I already forgot everything. I need to relearn how to do it. Also, how do I insert an image?
openImproper capitalization
Several edits by WarioWaluigiDude
capitalize words that don't need capitalization, and also writes certain words in all-caps for the sake of needlessly intensifying verbs. The most glaring case is here
in Revenge of the Sith. Right now I'm fixing all the issues.
EDIT: Unfortunately, they did another edit on the ROTS page and has the same issues (in fact, they doubled down on all-capping words just for needlessly intensifying).
Edited by MyFinalEditsopenLog-in issues
I got a new phone and wanted to log in from there. But not only does it not accept my password, but it also keeps saying my account and e-mail don't exist. What can I do?
(If this isn't the right place for such a question could you direct me to where it actually is?)
openIs this StrangledByTheRedString
This example was removed from YMMV.Wicked Part I:
- Strangled by the Red String: A lot of fans online think that Elphaba and Fiyero's interest in each other comes out of nowhere. The two have three interactions before they save the lion cub where their feelings are revealed and through most of it, Elphaba seems to genuinely dislike Fiyero, with the film failing to show her secret interest in him beforehand. While Fiyero is hinted to like Elphaba when they first meet, the fact he quickly gets with G(a)linda makes his feelings feel underdeveloped. It doesn't help that after the cub scene, Elphaba is quickly rushed off to the Emerald City, meaning that they only have one more scene together, which is overshadowed by her friendship with Glinda.
The reason was this
: "Trope misuse. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Strangledbythe Red String needs an actual relationship upgrade rather than ship tease." I thought feelings being confirmed (make no mistake these feelings were confirmed even if they aren't and official couple yet) and a lot of fans feeling that it came out of nowhere. Am I wrong? I very well might be looking at the page, but I wanted more opinions just to be safe.
openDoes Straight Gay only apply to men or are women included?
On Characters.Celeste, there's a commented out note
added by scoooool with the following:
This states that Straight Gay only applies to gay men, which is also suggested by the laconic page.
A gay male with no stereotypical gay traits or mannerisms.
However, on the actual page itself, it makes it clear that Straight Gay applies to men and women, with the first paragraph being:
Originally treated as a subversion of the standard gay stereotypes, the Straight Gay is a homosexual male or female character who has no camp mannerisms, Butch Lesbian tendencies, or obviously "gay" affectations.
So which is it? Is Straight Gay supposed to be an Always Male trope or are women included as well?
It's worth noting that the addition of female characters/lesbians to the description was retroactively added
by Emie K 88 in 2023 with no edit reason.

Urania 1204 re-added ZC Es without actually adding context to the entry itself on at least two separate occasions (here)
and here
. They've also misused tropes
, and added aversions as an example here
. I've sent notifiers and reverted edits where someone else hasn't already done so, but given that and their prior conduct (including in a previous ATT query thread
), what should be done next?
