openAdding Broken Base to YMMV Sonic Prime Page? Western Animation
So, since Sonic Prime had just wrapped up, is it time to make a Broken Base section for the YMMV page? Some of the suggestions for the Broken Base section are:
1) The characterization of Sonic himself has caused a split in the fanbase. Some fans find Sonic being characterized as being too immature found it to be completely alienated from his more laid back yet sensible portrayal in the games. Other fans however, think that having Sonic have more flaws in this version makes him more interesting as a character.
2) The canon of this series has also been divided in the fandom as some fans questioned about when this series exactly took place in the game canon and why does Sonic act way more differently in this series in comparison to how he was portrayed in Sonic Frontiers?
Edited by RabbitearsblogopenPossible Single Issue Wonk/Partial Plagiarism Western Animation
The Precision Driver repeatedly posts on the Complete Monster proposal thread
characters from The Simpsons, a show completely unconductive to having CMs because it’s too comedic.
- They did this three times in the past few months.
- The first time
they did this they proposed two unrelated characters from unrelated episodes of the show: Kostas Becker from the non-cannon episode "A Serious Flanders" (a parody of Fargo) who isn’t played seriously enough with comedic moments like telling a story that gets interrupted and his death being an Overly Long Gag were he the ice rolls over a bunch of times before he drowns, and Russ Cargill from The Simpsons Movie who is Played for Laughs with he says comedic stuff like “people should listen to him because he’s a big man on TV” and after he’s defeated he is comforted by Cletus who says “don’t worry, I once lost a game of tic tac toe to a chicken” and is potentially a Well-Intentioned Extremist. (This on its own wouldn’t be enough for a query but the next one is more of concern)
- the second time
they presented "more arguments" for just Becker (they admitted that Cargill has redeeming qualities) but the arguments were just repeating the same points in the earlier post along with proposing an image for the image links pagethat was just Becker holding a pen and a book in ominous light (they edited out the image since then) and later a different image that’s also just Becker in ominous lighting.
- The third time
was earlier today when, again, they just repeated the same arguments with repeated statements that Becker has no redeeming qualities (including that as an argument that he’s heinous). They also compared him to Randall Boggs who does have some funny moments but not in the same way as Becker.
- The first time
- Now that isn’t the only reason I’m bringing this up, I also think parts of their EP was largely lifted from Kosta Becker’s entry on NightmareFuel. The Simpsons (which wasn’t added by them)
- "A Serious Flanders" has Kostas Becker, aka the debt collector, who basically walks right out of a serious drama and acts as a Knight of Cerebus throughout the entire two-parter. After violently murdering the Rich Texan, chopping him to pieces and ripping his face off, he single-handedly kills Fat Tony's crew in a bloody shoot-out, before killing Fat Tony by putting his head in a donut maker. He also forces Ned into hiding for three years, only to shoot him once Marge unintentionally reveals his hiding spot. He has almost no funny scenes or jokes, and is probably the most serious villain to step foot in Springfield.
- From their first post
- Kostas Becker from The Simpsons two-part one-off episode "A Serious Flanders" is a notorious debt collector and gangster who, along with his associates Seamus and Collette, are introduced by having the Rich Texan captured and killed before having him chopped up and has his face ripped off at the start of the episode. Later on, Becker and his associates capture Homer so he can act as leverage against his neighbour Ned Flanders and after that, Becker takes the lives of Fat Tony and his crew during a shootout at the Lard Lad donut shop, with Disco Stu and Charles Montgomery Burns getting caught in the crossfire during the shootout. To showcase how monstrous he really is, he forces Ned and his sons Rod and Todd to go into hiding in Wyoming for three years and tries to have him killed when Marge unintentionally reveals his hiding spot. Throughout the two-parter, Becker has almost no funny scenes or jokes compared to previous villains such as Mr. Burns, Robert Terwilliger Jr./Sideshow Bob, Fat Tony or even Russ Cargill, helping to make him the most serious and vile villain to set foot in the city of Springfield, thanks in part to Brian Cox's spine-chilling voice-over performance throughout the two-part episode.
- From their second post
- Firstly, while Russ Cargill does have a few gueninely funny moments throughout The Simpsons Movie despite being a vile character, the same cannot be said about the monstrous Kostas Becker from "A Serious Flanders", who basically walks right out of a serious drama and acts as a Knight of Cerebus throughout the entire two-parter. His vile deeds include brutally murdering the Rich Texan at the beginning of the episode, having Homer captured so he can act as leverage against his neighbour Ned Flanders, murdering Fat Tony, Legs, Louie and Johnny Tightlips during a shootout at Lard Lad Donuts and forcing Ned and his sons to go into hiding in Wyoming for three years and tries to kill him when Marge unintentionally reveals his hiding spot.
Maybe I’m just overthinking things, but since their only forum activity appears to consist of trying to get characters from the simpsons on the Complete Monster page with stuff that’s not relevant to the discussion and what appears to be partial copying from the Nightmare Fuel page. To clarify I’m not officially reporting them, I just want to clarify somethings. Thoughts?
openLooking for something Western Animation
It's a gag used in old cartoons, say a character has crashed a vehicle of some kind, an ambulance turns up and the ambulance workers come out with a stretcher, but then they put the vehicle on the stretcher and leave the character on the ground. Is there a name for this?
open What constitutes an Ass Pull? Western Animation
Essentially, I was thinking of adding the trope in Hazbin Hotel in regards to the whole 'angels can only be hurt by angelic steel'.
Not in the concept itself but the fact that no demon in the 1000 years the exterminations happened had never figured it out, that no demons ever thought to try this.
And the fact that Vaggie would not know this, despite having being maimed by angelic steel.
Would this constitute an Ass Pull or is there another trope that would fit this?
openDownerEnding Western Animation
I have discovered that animated series created by FOX Animation studio are listed in the folder along with Disney. I have researched that not all of FOX's assets are owned by Disney and the company's series are mostly broadcasted by Adult Swim (well except for Simpsons. So I want to ask, should we remove the examples into Adult Swim folder or keep the series at Disney if you find proof that all (or more technically most of) the series are owned truly by Disney
openIffy example on The Jungle Book 2 page Western Animation
So uh, while idly surfing the site I found this entry on the page for The Jungle Book 2:
- G-Rated Sex: It is implied that in the beginning and, mostly, the end, Mowgli and Shanti have been hanging out, and not just platonically, but also romantically and sometimes sexually, much to their parents' support.
So first of all, rewatching the scenes in question, I'm not getting the implication that Mowgli and Shanti's interactions are anything more than just them teasing each other like kids do. When Mowgli returns to Shanti and Ranjan in the end, the most he does is grab Shanti's hand and playfully say that he'll race her back to the Man-Village. At most, it feels like a Ship Tease, "maybe they'll fall in love when they grow up" kind of moment, if anything (but it comes off more like two kids just goofing around).
And secondly, maybe I might be reading too much into it, but the entry is worded in such a way that it just comes off like whoever wrote it believes that Mowgli and Shanti are meant to be doing illicit things out in the jungle when they go out to get water for the Man-Village (or that "getting the water" is some kind of innuendo) and that their parents are encouraging it, which is just...ew. The characters are kids who are somewhere in the 10-12 range for Pete's sake, the words "romantically and sometimes sexually" shouldn't be in the same sentence as them.
Am I just reading too much into this or does this entry sincerely need to go or at the very least be reworded?
openHigh quality Mojo Jojo vector Western Animation
Hey, everybody, I have just found a higher-quality picture of Mojo Jojo's pre-movie design. If you have a moment, I will show you:https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/superpoderosa/images/1/18/Mojo_jojo.png/revision/latest?cb=20230917234850&path-prefix=es
Maybe we could use it for the The Powerpuff Girls / Main Antagonists page, on Mojo Jojo's folder.

openHelp a new troper make a fanfic rec page Western Animation
Not exactly about a trope, but I don't know if there's a more appropriate place to ask. I joined recently, so I'm still getting the hang of the site. I want to make a rec list for a work that so far doesn't have one, but I don't know some things... I have checked out some examples from other pages and read some Administratrivia, but I still have doubts:
Is it necessary to link Sturgeon's Law at the start?
Do I have to put "No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec"? I saw it done in all fic recs I've checked out minus two, so I don't know if it's mandatory. Besides, the template doesn't have it, so...
Do I organize them on folders? Do I need a minimum of examples to create a folder or something similar?
Do I have to link to the author too or just the name without a link is fine? With the link to the fanfic, of course.
What kind of fanfics should NOT be put in the page under any circumstances?
Considering the four folders that come in the page template (Authors and Websites, General Fics, Crossover Fics, and Shipping Fics), how can I determine that another folder has to be made?
If you want to leave additional advice, I'm all ears. Thank you in advance.
openIsn't Luz's Titan form in the Owl House count as One-Winged Angel? Western Animation
So in the finale of the Owl House, Luz turns into a Titan to battle Belos. Considering she's not only turning into something more powerul but also isn't human, shouldn't Luz Titan form count as One-Winged Angel?
openDoes this count as a leak? Western Animation
Recap.Phineas And Ferb contains a list of episode titles from the upcoming 5th season of the show, taken from "the copyright records". While it sounds more official than dubious leaks that come from nowhere, since it doesn't come from an official channel should it be taken off the page until it premieres?
openContinuity Nod Subpages Western Animation
I have been thinking of creating a Continuity Nod subpage for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but I am unsure about how Equestria Girls would fit in. EQG has had plenty of nods to the main show which are designated as Continuity Nods on their main pages. Would such references go on a hypothetical Continuity Nod subpage for the main series or would there have to be a separate subpage for EQG?
I'm not sure if such a question like this would fit for Ask The Tropers so please tell me it doesn't fit.
openPages like Funny, Tearjerker, Heartwarming, etc. Western Animation
Hi there!
My name is firstfullmoonofwinter13, and I have a question. If I wanted to suggest a page similar to the Funny page, Tearjerker page, etc. (idk what they’re actually called), where should I go to make the suggestion?
Hope to hear from someone soon!
openProblematic edit Western Animation
Blood Red Knight made this entry a couple of years ago on the YMMV page for the South Park episode "The Death Camp of Tolerance":
- The entire issue of people accusing people of homophobia for things they are right to be uncomfortable with is this with Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill which, while intended to attack teachers who permit sexually explicit material in elementary schools, also requires teachers to out students to their parents.
I'm not sure from reading this what point it's trying to make, but due to how it's worded it could be seen as defending homophobia, and from my understanding the bill is meant to restrict any discussion of LGBT issues, explicit or otherwise, so the entry seems misleading. Should it be cut?
Edited by Javertshark13openPage quote change (needs consensus?) Western Animation
Hi, I noticed that the image quote
on Hazbin Hotel was recently changed by Cluelessscholar. Normally I wouldn't be bothered with this, but since the show's page is very popular at the moment and receiving constant edits I felt it would be appropriate to gain consensus on whether the new or old one should be used. I sent them a notifier but they have not replied. Thoughts?

Most of M 3 S's The Owl House related edits seem to consist of adding walls of texts critizing the behavior of Amity. Is this a cause for concern?
Edited by ViiraopenVery irregularly formatted subpage Western Animation
I brought this up in the Ensemble Darkhorse Cleanup Thread
but haven't gotten a response yet. While I'm okay to wait for that, I thought I'd also bring it up here since only have of the issue I have is with general cleanup and the other half is somewhat more wiki policy/best practices.
EnsembleDarkhorse.Transformers opens with listing, by year, entrants into the Transformers Hall of Fame. While whether or not that is necessarily fitting for Ensemble Dark Horse is probably more an issue for the thread (with a brand as large as Transformers, determining whether a character is "minor" or "popular" are both difficult to do), that format seems to be... weird.
Edited by LarkmarnopenThundercats image source Western Animation
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't ThunderCats (2011) have another Image Source outside of Heroes Prefer Swords and Cradle-to-Grave Character? Or am I remembering something else?

So I'm editing the YMMV page for King of the Hill and I was wondering if there were enough entries to make an Alternative Character Interpretation page? And if yes, how would I go about it?
