Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:

openUse of Artistic Licence in the Ted Lasso finale Live Action TV
Shortly after the episode aired, I added the following to Recap.Ted Lasso S 3 E 12 So Long Farewell.
- Artistic Licence – Sports: Rupert would not be forced out of West Ham ownership over an extramarital affair, as the episode suggests was on the brink of happening as he arrives in the executive box prior to kick-off; assaulting George Catrick during a highly viewed internationally broadcast game, on the other hand, could potentially result in Rupert facing criminal charges and subsequently being disqualified from being owner or director of a Premier League club under the league’s rules for ownership.
The entry was subsequently deleted twice; the first claiming that Rupert was at risk of losing the club over "inappropriate conduct towards his employees" and the second resorts to speculative troping by claiming we don't know what the allegations are - except the episode makes clear that it's allegations of "sexual impropriety".
Now, here's the thing - the Premier League handbook
lists the various disqualifying factors for their Owners and Directors Test on Page 75 of the linked pdf, and convictions regarding sexual harassment or other related crimes are not a disqualifying factor. Rupert simply could not be forced out because of those allegations, guilty verdict in court or not.
I propose the following rewrite before reposting to the page:
- Artistic Licence – Sports: Rupert would not be forced out of West Ham ownership over allegations of sexual impropriety, as the episode suggests was on the brink of happening as he arrives in the executive box prior to kick-off, as criminal charges relating to such actions are not one of the disqualifying factors under the Premier League's rules for being owner or director of a Premier League club; assaulting George Cartrick during a highly viewed internationally broadcast game, on the other hand, could potentially result in Rupert facing criminal charges and subsequently being disqualified from being owner or director of a Premier League club under the league’s rules for ownership as such charges are one of the disqualifying factors.
open Do you think Succession finale has tearjerker moments? Live Action TV
So it's been about a few days since the Series Finale of Succession has arrived and only tearjerker (and Awesome page) has not recently add a sub example for this last episode so far. Is the last episode has zero tearjerker moments or has people stop caring for this finale for some reason? I need someone who know this show to explain. (Btw I have known a little about this show so I can't edit the work page of the show)
openExample Deletion Live Action TV
I added the below example to a character page, and a user deleted it on the grounds that "Being the assistant to Will was clearly Nate choosing to do the job an act of penance". I don't think there's anything in the trope description that says this would preclude the example from qualifying, so I wanted to check if this was a valid deletion.
Ethnic Menial Labour: In the season three finale, Nate is the "assistant to the kitman" despite being vastly overqualified for the job, and spends the episode picking up water bottles, pushing a laundry cart, and performing various forms of labour for the all white coaching staff.
This same user has also deleted my and others' factually accurate additions in the past and sent me various P Ms accusing me of "lionizing" the character in question and "demonizing" another, which I know they have done to other users as well.
openThreshold for spoilers? Live Action TV
I'm curious; what is the threshold for spoilers? I was reading over Karmic Death, looking at the Game of Thrones example. This bit:
The fact Oberyn loses to Clegane, the Red Wedding bit and the reveal it was Olenna who poisoned Joffrey
I'd have thought would all be spoilered. Granted, if you are still watching the show and on this site that's kind of on you, lol, but I was curious if there was a reason those were not spoilered or if they should be?
Edited by TwiddleropenUser making DracoInLeatherPants'ing edits Live Action TV
Hi, I'd like to report Tropers/hacash for making several edits to the Ted Lasso page that ignore factual information presented on the show in order to lionize the character of Nate Shelley. I've already approached them about this in private messages in the past and they seemed to back off, but clearly they've decided to just lay low for a while before doing it again. In the interest of avoiding an Edit War I wanted to bring this to the mods' attention.

Hi all. Not really sure where this goes, but this recap page title RiverdaleS05E10Chapter86ThePincushionmen is wrong and should be RiverdaleS05E10Chapter86ThePincushionMan. Where should I report this? Thanks!

I appreciate the site is constantly evolving, and that tropes are added and removed along the way, but is there any way to determine how many tropes are currently on the site in total? It's for some research I'm doing! Many thanks. S.

Edited by DrOO7openPossible WhatAnIdiot Quote Live Action TV
So I want to add a quote from Robbie Rotten into the What An Idiot where during the "We Are Number One" song he screams WHAT ARE YOU DOING? at his minions after they slipped on the banana peels Robbie just set up to try and stop Sportacus seconds ago. And his minions should have clearly seen him set up those banana peels since they were walking towards Robbie. If it doesn't fit, what trope would the quote fit better in?
openBiased Edits to One Tree Hill pages Live Action TV
whisperhugscoundrel has made a number of edits to the YMMV and Recap pages for One Tree Hill that honestly read as their not liking something said about a specific character.
Their edits to the YMMV page are largely pro-Brooke/Brucas. Whilst you could argue it's justified due to the nature of the page, some of the edits feel as if they're trying to villainize anyone who points to the canonical events of the show whilst justifying it as their supporting another ship.
The edits to the Recap pages also have no explanation has been given for the removal of tropes, but the common thread on those edits is they're just removing things that paint Brooke in a less than positive light despite being valid examples of the tropes.
I feel like some of the YMMV edits at the very least need rewriting to be less biased, and have already removed the edits that are particularly inflammatory for the time being. I haven't restored the edits on the Recap pages at this point, as I don't want to be accused of starting an edit war despite there being no reason given for their removal.
Basically I'm just looking for guidance as for how to proceed at this point
Edited by ChrisDVopenEdit war - Characters.DragRaceEspanaSeason3 Live Action TV
A couple of days ago, Nefisis added an Old Soldier example for one of the contestants (edit
) on Drag Race España Season 3.
After double-checking with "Is this an example?"
, I cut it
(and many more examples across the other Drag Race pages), as it was being used for an older drag queen rather than in the usual military context. The edit reason explained and linked to that thread.
Nefisis has just added it back again
(misuse notifier sent).
Am I ok to delete it?

Edited by PrincessLulu6openPedro Pascal Playing With Character Type Live Action TV
Does this look worth adding to Creator.Pedro Pascal, or does it look too focused on one show (namely The Last of Us)? I already put differently-worded versions of it on Trivia. The Last Of Us 2023 and Main.Playing With Character Type.
- Playing with Character Type: Pascal's portrayal of Joel Miller usually comes off as less confident or friendly than most of his major screen roles, due to Joel's heartbroken trauma from the killing of his daughter, Sarah. However, Pascal still gets to act daring and affectionate in scenes preceding Sarah's demise, and when Joel gradually develops into a protective and loving surrogate father for Ellie Williams.

I was going to ask here if anyone can edit the page added for the 2021-present Korean series Taxi Driver, especially add the Characters page and edit the YMMV and Trivia. I already added some stuff there but anyone is free to add more and edit some. I'll write down some examples of the trope for the series and the characters you can add which fit them.
