Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:

Shouldn't the various page archives (like the Made Of Win archives) be locked? I'm asking because some are and some aren't.

All Blue Entries have been officially discontinued. Does that mean we should cut the pages in the AllBlue/ namespace
or should we keep them Just for Fun?

There was an issue on the forums over the proper use of Shout Outs. The trope repair shop is full so I thought I would ask here.
What would be the proper use for a Shout-Out? Watching some shows it can be hard to pick something that's particularly clever or just a coincidence.
Several examples from Kim Possible would include her clothes being the same as what Buffy wore a few times (probably a coincidence), Kim's ringtone being similar as the one heard in ]]Twenty Four 24]] (stronger, but still maybe a coincidence) or Kim getting a one off stealth suit that mirrors Splinter Cell, and the boat pilot being named Sam (a Shout-Out in my book).
Is there a way of being able to tell what is a Shout-Out and what is mere coincidence?

raithe has a wee bit of a natter problem
. I've natter-fied him twice already. Heck, he seems aware of his own nattery tendency and the badness of natter
and just feels its others' jobs to fix it for him.

There was this movie that i saw in the late 1980's or 1990's about this investigator in this town where every one does a little magic. There was a scene in it where this transvestite came out and sung the song "I put a spell on you". She was wearing a long white evening gown by the piano. I really want to know the name of the movie. It has been bugging me for years.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but the forum thread isn't attracting attention.
When will the search be restored? If I try to search for something, all I get is a page that says "Search Results. Loading." But nothing ever loads!
I'm on Firefox, if that matters.

I don't know whether it's appropriate to ask about this here, but since I couldn't find any info in Locked Pages or the Permanent Red Link Club, this is the only place I could think of.
What happened to the trope My Dear Idiot? It was there until a couple of days back, but it's suddenly vanished. Was it renamed, or deleted for good, or...?

I went to add a new example to the Covered in Gunge page, and it isn't taking when I save it- I see the new paragraph in edit view, but it isn't there in normal view. (Added Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here to the bottom of the Live Action TV examples section; obviously I have no idea if it would be there if anyone else looked at edit view.)
It wasn't that someone else had locked the page- I tried again today and the same thing happened (or failed to happen). And it isn't my account, I've successfully edited other pages since. I'm a bit puzzled.

Can somebody help me? Legend Of Zelda The Wind Waker?from=Main. The Legend Of Zelda The Wind Waker this review
needs to be assigned to the Reviews tab of the The Wind Waker page. I tried to do it myself, but it has Gone Horribly Wrong. I had asked this in a Zelda thread, but for some inexplicable reason it was ignored. Twice. Help, please

Linking over here
has somehow gone wrong for this section:
"In a web comic which was about Harry Potter spoilers England is also shown [[shirtlessscene stripping]] in front of Japan when Japan freaked out because he was wearing a T-shirt with Harry Potter spoilers stating that he was doing it [[Tsundere for his own sake, not for Japan's]] although he had the spoilers written in his skin."

Can we install the "relative" button/namespace on creator pages? Especially for music this would be very interesting in order, to, say, construct a "family tree" for a band or artist or list its/his/her/their connections to others.
This would especially be better for some pages I work with (note the clunky box on the side of Yoshiki Hayashi, listing bands that have come to be as a result of his work in the Japanese music scene, as one example: if the "relative" button/namespace worked there, I could move the listing of Luna Sea, Tokyo Yankees, and Dir En Grey, for example to there)
While I'm ranting about this I would also like to see the related trope button not just include parent-child tropes (and with my change, creators) but sibling tropes - using pages I work with again as examples, sibling tropes would be, say, '80s Hair to Anime Hair. Anime Hair arguably came about alongside '80s Hair, but isn't a direct child of it, though they have common roots and originated around the same time.

I just created Wereworld, which is completely unrelated (as far as I know) to Were World. How do I make them not share the same YMMV and Crowner tabs?

Troper Spuki3000
is on a bowderlising spree, replacing all swear words with "[bleep]".
