Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:
- Help identifying a trope. See TropeFinder.

So what's the guideline/policy towards "personal" Awesome Moments on video game pages? I'm looking at Beat Hazard, and nearly all of the examples are tropers posting about their own achievements. Obviously the "this troper" stuff has to go, as well as the high scores and the one example about gameplay videos, but can stuff like "beating 'Dancing Mad' on Insane" or "playing Plato's Republic" stay if they're rewritten?

seems to have something against the HoYay.Ace Attorney page; they keep blanking it and pulling it off HoYay.Video Games.

We've got a bit of a problem here with the editor Darth Megatron. He's re-adding
an entry multiple times despite the fact that it cannot count. He's adding a main character to the Ensemble Darkhorse after specifically being told in the edit reasons that the character cannot apply. He created an Edit War, and refuses to read how the trope works. Popular characters are not what an Ensemble Dark Horse is alone.

Someone named Nazo XY recently made several edits to this page
with very poor grammatical structure and spelling. I was wondering if a moderator could revert his edits for me? None of it is worth salvaging, either, so just an undo would be nice, and maybe a PM to the editor regarding this?
For a sample of what kind of edits...
" * Vague Age: They're are not like a VI Generations but let's be honest, always ask How old a they are. it is mentioned that Hilbert/Hilda is most older than others, alytought They can't be older than sixteen yet s/he's allowed to travel the region on his/her own. Is difficult how the sprites in the game, somethings is look weird like than others almost have almost the same size.
- It says in the manual of version Usa, s/he is older enough to have driver's license "

Do anyone have a suggestion what to do with this page
? On one hand the page is a stub with just one line and seems just to have been created in order to have a WMG page. On the other hand, more information is hinted to be revealed the 24th this month
so it will probably be filled a bit more then . Remove it now and recreate it when more information has come up or wait and let it be filled when it does?

Pokémon: I deleted some examples of Ensemble Dark Horse that were misuse, as they're not side-Pokemon, but rather starters and main Pokemon. I left an edit note and a thread in the Discussion page.
Ninplanet123 then went and readded almost all of them without any edit reasons.
I'd just repull it since they're misuse and he ignored the reasons and discussion, but I don't want edit war.
We also had a discussion on the same at the X & Y discussion page
where everyone agreed that starters and box legendaries can't count for Ensemble Dark Horse since they're so heavily pushed in merchandise and by the games.

I made a page for Persona Q Shadow Of The Labryinth but I didn't realize there's another for Persona Q Shadow Of The Labyrinth. Could someone get rid of the first one please?

The Red Star is full of Red Bullet Points, and editing says move those items to YMMV but... it is the YMMV page. Is something messed up/

I wanted to sort examples by folder here, but the code isn't working. I've added the foldercontrol tag, the folder openings and endings, and compared the folder code of other articles with the one I added in this page to see what I did wrong .... but I can't spot anything unusual, I have no idea what to do.

Console games, do they belong in Main/ or Useful Notes/ ?
They aren't technically trpes, but real life devices. Although they are works in and of themselves, technically.

CPF Mfan might need to have someone PM them, after the Disproportionate Retribution fiasco on the Mass Effect Race Tropes page they went to Woobie Species and Robot War (which also has King Zeal reverting the edit, so we might have another edit war between the two of them brewing) and unilaterally changed it to remove parts that were favourable to the Geth and push the "Genocide" angle. They are also insistent that an in-character opinion is proof of events that said character wasn't even alive to witness, nor presented with any direct evidence.
I will grant that I might be bitter over being called a liar after Fighteer stepped in and told them to knock it off.

There's a Edit War in inFAMOUS over The Scrappy entry. This is the removed entry in question:
- The Scrappy: The Voice of Survival makes himself very easy to hate. It's hard to feel bad when the First Sons shoot him.
- Trish. She never misses an opportunity to remind Cole that the Raysphere blast was his fault, makes sure to remind him at several times that it's his fault her sister died, and leads you on an infuriatingly annoying Escort Mission atop a bus.
- Zeke is probably even worse. He is a useless, stupid mooch... in addition to being a traitor. He is apparently Cole's best friend but we are never given any real reason to like or even tolerate him.
I remember posting the Trish part of it awhile back when both the In Famous and In Famous 2 pages were fused, and there have been back and forth edits over it recently, with the last edit deleting it completely. I'd like to know if this should stay off the page or if it should return. Although I personally really do hate Trish, there does seem to be a general enough opinion of her that she deserves her Scrappy status (not sure if this is a good enough evidence, but "hate trish infamous" is a search suggestion on Google with the first several links titled along the lines of "I hate Trish" or "Does anyone hate Trish?"). Same with Zeke from the first game and Voice of Survival. Or do they maybe need to be moved under Base Breaker and have their entries fixed?

I have two questions, actually, but since one requires a simple answer and one is a request, I suspect one post will be sufficient.
The simple answer: Are square brackets actually, officially the TVTropes default for stage directions, rather than curved brackets? I've been handed that edit reason a few times, but it doesn't seem to be consistent (or even close to the majority usage) across the wiki. I went through all the instructional entries I could find that seemed relevant and can't find a single reference either way. Personally, I think square brackets look ugly used that way and already serve a typographical/markup purpose - if they're also used for stage directions, there's scope for some very broken formatting - but I'll abide by the rules if the rules exist.
The request is for someone to do...something...about Spec Ops: The Line, because the entire page is riddled with Natter and worse. Entries arguing with other entries, an incoherent and badly-formatted rant about something I can't even parse, and lengthy entries in Fridge Logic, which I thought were supposed to go to Headscratchers. The game attracts incendiary opinions no matter what, I know, but can it at least be kept down to a dull roar? I'd do it myself, but I've made my own stupid edits in the past and I don't think I have the clout or wisdom to clear it all up for good. Or even a little while.

The entry at The Hobbit has two different games on it, not in the same series. The second one was added when there were only four tropes, but it's grown now. Should it be split, and if so, then how?

Need a reversion of prio's most recent edit on Characters.Fallout New Vegas The Courier. He changed all gender references to "he," with the edit reason "According to canon the Courier is a blond caucasian male." I PM'ed him about it, and it turns out this is just something he heard from a friend, rather than anything from an official source.

Ok the Starbound page has a bit of a problem.
The Shout-Out entry is ballooning out of control as players and editors see refrences both deliberate and imagined (a frequent problem with shout out) and it is starting to kind of take over the page.
So any possible solutions would be appreciated.
