Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:
- Help identifying a trope. See TropeFinder.
- Help identifying a work. See MediaFinder.
- Asking if a trope example is valid. See the Trope Talk forum.
- Proposing new tropes. See TropeLaunchPad.

openMusic/VaadatCharigim - Translation help for Hebrew song titles Music
Hi, if there are any Hebrew speaking Tropers who catch this, can you check the machine translations of the two song titles in the Vaadat Charigim article?
"Lehitorer Velo Lada'at" = "To the Police and to the Witness" ? "Ein Nehama Ladoachim" = "There is no Consolation for the Oppressors" ?
Thanks.
openThree Days Grace main page cover image Music
Three Days Grace has an image showing the old, pre-2013 lineup of the band (before they changed lead vocalist). Can I go ahead and add an image of their new lineup, keeping the old image in a /note ? Should I ask permission from somewhere else?
openFormatting question Music
Does punctuation go inside external links,
or outside them
? Asking because on The Protomen there's a period inside a link.
openAmen Break? Music
Here are a couple things I've noticed with the page Amen Break:
- The page consists almost entirely of zero-context examples. One of the examples listed is "DE-SIRE alternative - "Trip Machine PhoeniX", which doesn't explain how or where the amen break is used in the song.
- It might not be in the correct namespace. Generally, lists of every appearance of a song go in the Music/ namespace. Examples: Ode to Joy, Pachelbel's Canon, Ride of the Valkyries, The Cancan Song. Should we move Amen Break to the Music/ namespace, or is it fine in the Main/ namespace?
openDo interviews count as real life examples? Music
I noticed that a lot of TearJerker.Music pages list real-life events (mostly artist deaths) in violation of Tear Jerker's No Real Life Examples, Please! rule. On some pages. On TearJerker.Avenged Sevenfold, I removed an example about The Rev's death, but I noticed a couple of examples about other band members being interviewed afterwards. I think they be removed should since they're troping real life, but I'd still like to confirm.
Edited by SomeonemanopenShould We Re-create Ariana Grande's YMMV Tab? Music
Her YMMV tab was removed for being for a "Creator" page, but she's been moved to music. And singers like Lady Gaga have a YMMV tab! Should we remake it?
open Duplicate trope? Music
Neoclassical Punk Zydeco Rockabilly and GenreMashup.Music have the same image, and I'm not sure what the difference between them is. This TRS thread from 2016
suggests Genre Mashup was created as a more general trope for Neoclassical Punk Zydeco Rockabilly (combining existing genres together) to clear up the misuse of Genre-Busting (when a work fits into no genre). This doesn't seem to have completely worked: Haruhi Suzumiya is on both pages with the exact same description.
openTextless Album Cover Music
The intro matter for Textless Album Cover was entirely deleted. It appears that another troper put it back, then it was deleted again.
Here is the intro/definition that was deleted from the page:
Album covers typically have two elements to them: text to tell the consumer the name of the artist and the album, and artwork to catch the consumer's eye. A number of albums, however, lack text on the cover. This could be for a number of reasons: artists may want the audience to focus on the artwork, or they may be trying to de-emphasize their name, or they may be trying to catch attention through minimalism. Whatever the reason, a Textless Album Cover is an album cover lacking text at least on the front cover, and possibly also the sides and back cover.
See also Minimalistic Cover Art, a style of artwork that often accompany albums without cover text.

AreYouTyler
appears to be a sockpuppet of BigBertha
, who was banned in 2016 for repeatedly misattributing a song & using a fanfic of all things as a justification. It took me years to make the connection, but their recent edit to L–Z confirms that it’s the same person.
openMusic Characters? Music
I would like to ask if Character page is allowed to be created for idol groups? I noticed how Twice from Korean Pop Music have a character page, but the artist aren't characters, so I am curious.
open Anyone else not like paramore? Music
I hate Paramores music and Haley willams is annoying to me. Their early stuff is too edgy and their newer stuff is even worse! I’m a former emo and former goth and I never liked paramore!!!
openTitling a work page with a special character Music
I want to make a work page for this musician I like, but I'm not sure how to go about it. His stage name is μ-Ziq, and I was thinking I could make the Wiki Word "MuZiq" and have the page title be μ-Ziq, or would it be preferred if both were Mu-Ziq to avoid possible compatibility issues? Wikipedia has him under his real name (Mike Paradinas
), so that could be an option too.
openInter-album Continuity Nod Music
If an album contains an allusion to a song from one of the artist's previous albums, is that a Continuity Nod or a Mythology Gag?
Edited by TheGreatConversationopenBanned user bornofself is back. Again. Music
Oriental 1 is, judging by their edit history, bornofself's latest mantle. Didn't bother sending a message, but it doesn't matter because they're not supposed to be here but still somehow don't know when to quit.
openPage in the wrong namespace? Music
I believe that Robin Thicke should be in the Music namespace instead of Creator, but I’m bringing it up here to get a second opinion.
openWhat to do with this old sandbox? Music
Found this sandbox for MA Numminen. The description is alright and there are some good examples, but most of them have no context, and it hasn't been touched in four years. What should we do with it?
openYoko Shimomura namespace Music
Since she's a video game soundtrack composer, shouldn't Creator.Yoko Shimomura be in the Music/ namespace?
openAlbums from Weird Al Yankovic Music
There appears to be albums that "Weird Al" Yankovic made. Now, I am pretty sure that pages for albums are only allowed if they tell a story. And Weird Al's albums don't tell a story. So, should we delete this or not?

The article for SOPHIE was vandalized a few hours ago by this troper named weissman88, and going through their edit history, they specifically target any articles with LGBTQ content, including editing in dead names and improper pronouns for both characters and real people, and deleting some content altogether. Is there a more direct way to report this other than Contact Us, or is that the best option?
