openWhat makes an character an Alternate Company Equivalent? Live Action TV
I been very tempted to slap that unto Kamen Rider Build's Evolt/Evolto, for i noticed he has a similarity to Jojo's Dio. For the following reasons: 1) both ancient in their own ways 2) hammy 3) manipulative/pretend to be allies/friends of others 5) madden someone into compliance 6) started their plots, Evolt moreso 7) familial tie to a hero, provider of said hero's powers 8) have no higher ideals than getting more and more power and manipulate people in some sort of facade personality 9) somehow able to attract a lot of people to either work for them or to trust him 10) wants to create a new world with a long scheme. But i really don't know how it would fully count as they are not similar species wise or in context of how their plans and characters are executed. So what does it take to be an ACE? Does it need to be a deliberate expy or can it be considered because of the roles they have in the story?
openWhen to move to the Discussion page Live Action TV
Someone posted a comment disagreeing with something I put on a YMMV page; if I wanted to respond, should I do so on the Discussion page? And if yes, should I remove their comment and post it there as well? Should I just hide it with the %% symbol? Should I move my original comment, too, or just leave everything as is? I know you're not supposed to clog up the YMMV page with debates, but I don't use the forums much so I don't know all the etiquette.
Edited by TabsopenDuplicate work page Live Action TV
The Show Llan-ar-goll-en has both a Series/ and a WesternAnimation/ pages, that seem to be duplicate of each other.
It is mostly live-action with a few animated characters; if I'm not mistaken, this kind of shows go in the "Series/" namespace.
The WesternAnimation/ page has more wicks and the video examples, though, which would need to be corrected first.
Edited by StFanopenSuite Life Radar Page Live Action TV
The Suite life series (of Zack and Cody, On Deck) had it's radar page cut for apparently only a few qualify for radar status. Personally I think otherwise and I want to recreate the page. I was wondering whether others think it's a good idea.
For context, this is what the page looked like before it was deleted: https://web.archive.org/web/20160101035353/https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Radar/TheSuiteLifeOfZackAndCody
openBob 🩷Abishola Live Action TV
Is it safe to create episode recap/summary pages? I see a lot of red links and this:
Note: This page was cut for reason: Page created by ban evader Creating red links in 3 articles. Abandoning 61 inbound links.
Also, how exactly do I go about creating a recap page and the links to it?
openHow do I add a video example? Live Action TV
I know I've added one before ages and ages ago, but it's been ages since I've been active in the wiki, so I think things have changed. I'm willing to have it looked over or verified, if that's what needs to happen, but I just have one video example that I think works so well for a certain trope and I have literally no idea how to upload it. Has this feature been paused or something?
openConsolidation of tropes from spinoff Live Action TV
8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is a comedy program which started off as a few special episode mashups of 8 Out of 10 Cats (a comedy panel show) and Countdown (a game show) and then had a spinoff series that is going on 12 years now. However, trope examples for Cats Does Countdown are splintered among pages for the latter two series. Would it make more sense to have tropes that are Cats Does Countdown-specific to be consolidated to one series or the other (or even its own page)?
openErroneous writing credits on recap pages Live Action TV
I have noticed there is a problem with the writing credits on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer pages. For example, on Buffy the Vampire Slayer S1E1 "Welcome to the Hellmouth" it says,
Written by Whedon, Matt Kiene, Joe Reinkemeyer, Rob Des Hotel, & Dean Batali
This is false, as the pilot was obviously written by Whedon only (as seen on Wikipedia for example). I do know the reason why this happened: on IM Db, there is a(n unfortunate) directive to list crew members with certain job titles (namely, story editors and staff writers) under "Written By" for each episode. This means they are part of the writing staff, not that they actually co-wrote that particular episode. Case in point: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0452716/fullcredits
I'm willing to go through the recap pages and fix these, but don't want to go on an editing spree without explaining why, so I'd use the edit reasons to link to this thread. Is that alright?
openDoctor Who recap page glitch Live Action TV
When logged out, I can only see two tropes on Doctor Who 60th AS "The Star Beast": Retraux and Rearrange the Song. No intro paragraph, no image, no other tropes. Logged in, I can see the whole thing. Does anyone know what's causing this? I can replicate it in Chrome and Edge.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/Bodies2023
I have a Headscratcher … can one suggest a new one? I just joined, have read for years …
I posted a Discussion topic but don’t know if I did it right nor where to see Discussion topics.
openDropped a Bridge on Him example Live Action TV
A long while ago I added this example to Recap.Doctor Who S 27 E 13 The Parting Of The Ways:
- Dropped a Bridge on Him: Not to anywhere near the extent of say, the Sixth Doctor's death-by-falling-over or the Eighth Doctor's regeneration not (at the time) being explained at all, but the fact that Rose was able to store the vortex energy for several minutes and only got a headache as a result, while the Doctor is killed by just storing it for a few seconds raised more than a few eyebrows.
Another troper later added this underneath the entry:
- Considering that Rose was able to bring Jack back to life, the Doctor might have been able to heal Rose, but couldn't heal himself.
This resulted in a third troper deleting the entire example with "Repair, Don't Respond" in the edit reason. However, would I be right in thinking that the second-level bullet point was speculative troping, and that the right course of action would have been to just delete that rather than nuking the whole example?
Looking back on it I'm not very happy with how I worded the example in the first place anyway, but just so I'm not engaging in a (very slow-motion) edit war, would I be okay to put the example back in as this:
- Dropped a Bridge on Him: The Doctor's dying as a result of holding the vortex energy in his body for roughly five seconds before he returns it to the TARDIS was seen by some fans as an abrupt and poorly-explained reason for his having to regenerate, especially since it comes right after Rose kept the same energy in her body for several minutes of screentime, while using it to wipe out the Daleks and resurrect Jack.
openWeird link inserted into work description Live Action TV
Max Headroom has its description section interrupted partway through with a YouTube link leading to footage of the 1987 TV signal hijacking incident
. I understand why it's there, it's inserted into the part talking about the actual character interrupting segments on the network. The YouTube video isn't from the show though, and while it's an interesting piece of trivia, I'm skeptical that it adds value to the page. Can the links be removed?
openSeries / The Guest Live Action TV
There is a South Korean series called 'The Guest' (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/TheGuest)
and an American film with the same title (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Film/TheGuest)
but they aren't related at all. On the page for the series there is a Film, Trivia, WMG and YMMV that all belong to the film, not the series. How do you remove them?
openUser keeps removing my entries about Brooke in the One Tree Hill Heartwarming page for no reason Live Action TV
user Tv Addicted has removed entries I made about Brooke on the One Tree Hill Heartwarming page for no reason twice now, after I restored them for the first time the user kept one entry but removed another one with no explanation. Judging from all of the edits they made to the shows YMMV page praising the Leyton romance while bashing the Brucas romance it seems like this user genuinely has an issue with anything that gives praise to Brooke. So if someone could please tell them to knock it off and leave my entries alone that would be much appreciated.
openMoving (2023) Live Action TV
Has anyone made the page for the 2023 Superhero Korean series Moving yet?
openThe Penthouse: Joo Seok-Kyeong Live Action TV
I've started watching Penthouse and I wanted to talk about one trope which would fit Joo Seok-Kyeong well,
Do you think she would count as a Like Father Like Daughter trope because much like her father the villain Joo Dan Tae she would also bully, abuse and manipulate others (which in turn was because of Dan-Tae abusing her and her brother) And this just a discussion.
Edited by Rm74openWhat do you do with a page mostly plagiarized? Live Action TV
I’m doing a plagiarism clean-up of Doctor Who’s trivia pages. I got tipped off a while ago that almost every page of the first Three doctors’ pages has examples (mostly under What Could Have Been) that have been plagiarized from either the show’s wiki or this comprehensive website
(which the wiki itself has cribbed from).
For example, several trivia examples from the episode “An Unearthly Child” (the very 1st episode of the series) had been plagiarized from it’s wiki article’s story notes.
- The first school scene was re-written to reduce the tension between Barbara and Ian. In the original script, Ian says, "When I've had a bad day, I come in here [the staff room], and I want to smash all the windows". Barbara retorts, "It hasn't been a bad day", and Ian remarks, "You're just naturally like that?" Barbara replies, "I hope not. I've had another kind of day. A very puzzling kind of day".
- Ian and Barbara's relationship was much more romantic in the original script.
- In the original script, the "PRIVATE" notice at the junkyard was originally supposed to appear significantly newer than the lettering on the gates. The junkyard was also supposed to contain "a broken-down old shed".
And while doing cleanup the trivia page for the episode “The Romans”
and it is seeping with plagiarism, up to and including Wikipedia.
So how should I go forward with this? I’ve been editing previous pages to remove plagiarism, but this particular page is compromised with it.
Edited by CanuckMcDuck1openAdding tropes and examples to a page Live Action TV
Hello guys. Today I added another trope on the characters page of a Live Action show. This is my first time editing a page. When I finished editing and clicked on "safe", the trope then was added to the page but it did not turn blue and one cannot click on it. I wanted to asked how I can fix that? I made sure that I used an existing trope. Thanks a lot in advance and kind regards.

I'm Buff! When a character looks breifly muscular. Ben 10: Race Against time is a example.
