Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:
- Help identifying a trope. See TropeFinder.
- Help identifying a work. See MediaFinder.
- Asking if a trope example is valid. See the Trope Talk forum.
- Proposing new tropes. See TropeLaunchPad.
- Making bug reports. See QueryBugs.

openPage title question Anime
I don't see any thread of that nature in the Directory thread (the closest is a thread on translation policy, but I doubt it covers the issue). Should I ask here, or at the Forums? (If I'm suggested to ask here, I'll also ask the question in this thread)
openVandalism on work page Anime
Today, P360360P had just done a whole-page vandalism
to Aggretsuko, under the edit reason of "HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!".
I don't think vandalism is even allowed as an April Fools prank on TV Tropes, so I set up this query to advice the mods about reverting the changes.
openMy Hero Academia Arc Anime
I have discovered that chapters 307-317 and 318-328 in My Hero Academia recap are listed as parts of two separate arcs, while actually they are the parts of one arc. Who can fix that fuse those two recaps into one recap
open Why doesn't ReferencedBy have an icon? Anime
I thought of this when I was scrolling through the Magical Princess Minky Momo Referenced By page. I know Heartwarming has a heart and Tearjerker has a tear, but why doesn't RB also have an icon? And if it did, what would it be?
open Can always detect their own kind Anime
In Manga/Parasyte, the Parasites have the ability to detect another member of their species, even while outwardly appearing human.
Which trope is this? Psychic Radar? Supernatural Sensitivity? They don't seem to have any other Psychic Powers.
openAsian Animation Anime
So I was seriously considering making a media page for the Mix Master cartoon from the 2000s; since it is a South Korean-Japanese production, what page type should I use? Does it count as an anime? Or is just Asian Animation?
I was looking at the staff on the Wikipedia page, and the voice actors are mostly Japanese while the producers are mostly Korean; not sure if it matters in this situation.
openCrunchyroll Anime
In light of the March 2022 renaming of Funimation to Crunchyroll LLC as well as the Funimation brand being phased out a few weeks ago, I'm thinking about moving Creator.Funimation to Creator.Crunchyroll and/or Creator.Crunchyroll LLC.
Given that, are there any thoughts?

In Lady The Brighton Family, the folder for Alexandra won't format her manga image.
openWhat can I use for example images Anime
Hi there! Long time lurker, newbie editor of pages. I decided to do a baby step of fixing some dead links on the *K-ON!* page. However, I'm unfamiliar with what exactly is fine to use as an example image. Are archive.org okay to use, or is first-hand source preferred? I was able to replace one with another example image (since they demonstrated the same thing), but some of the others don't have exact replacements. I have found an archive log of one example, but am unsure if I could use it.
Also, what should I do if a link is dead, and I can't replace it? Three out of four video links have since been deleted, unclear if by copyright or by the user, so I'm worried I might not be able to find replacements. Should I remove the links if I can't?
[PS: if one could redirect me to a source that explains this, it would be much appreciated. ^^ I've tried but I didn't find one as of typing this]
openAvoiding an edit war Anime
On Trivia. My New Boss Is Goofy, I added a Creator's Oddball entry but part of it was changed by Damolisher with this edit reason:
For context, MNBIG is targeted for young girls (IE shojo), so demographic wise it is indeed a shojo. However, I don't want to cause an edit war so asking here.
openAnime/KihachiroKawamotoShorts Anime
I created this page as "Animation" originally because these shorts are Stop Motion, not Anime-style animation per the site's description. But someone put it under "Anime" regardless because according to that person Japan would not be included in "Animation", basically "everything animated from Japan is Anime". I disagree. What would be the best option?

openavoiding Editwarring Anime
I've noticed that at Characters.Spy X Family Ostania Donovan Desmond is listed as Big Bad. I've previously removed it as he is neither behind the conflict nor is even a real antagonist by definition, and since then it's still true, but it was added again. Okay to remove?
He is also listed as Greater-Scope Villain. "Greater" to who?
Edited by AmonimusopenIs this wrong? Anime
Hey. I used the Get Help with English thread to check my grammar
and made the necessary changes yet I still
got a PM saying it was full of errors and needed to be corrected (they made their own changes to the page). I don't get it, what did I do wrong? I used the advice given to me on this thread. I was suspended before, I don't want to be suspended again and I tried following the rules.
openDoes Silvers Rayleigh (One Piece) count as an example of "World's Strongest Man"? Anime
Another user and I are having a disagreement over whether or not he constitutes the trope, at least when he was at his prime strength. My argument comes from the fact that, as a character, he was the right hand of the former strongest man, Gol D. Roger, and that he often leverages his reputation as a warrior of legendary renown to bluff enemies out of battles. While he's no longer at his peak, at one point he was decidedly in the running as being the strongest.
I also pointed out that the trope itself does not come from a defined character tier list, but rather, someone who is considered in story as being a contender for the strongest. Additionally, I noted that other characters (both in One Piece and not) have the trope applied to them despite there being other contenders for the title of "the" strongest.
What are everyone's thoughts on the matter?
Edited by WindraysopenEdit War on Ass Pull entry Anime
On YMMV.Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, ~drillizer has re-added
two Ass Pull entries that they once added back in May, but were eventually culled out by consensus in the general Gundam thread
after repeated manic tweaking and refusal to argue for their restoration in the forum despite being prompted so by Omega Nemesis 13.
openIs there a trope for a reprinting/dub/similar same-medium adaptation accidentally changing the plot? Anime
I'm trying to figure out an appropriate ymmv/trivia quote for an occurence -
In "Book of the Long Sun", the Orb reprinting (by far the easiest one to find now), it changes a major reveal by replacing "I" with "Horn", deleting the reveal that the third person narrative was actually a first person one.
Edited by EpochPirate

On quite a few pages related to the Fairy Tail franchise such as the Character pages and the Manga.Fairy Tail Zero page, Nic Master Trope (edit history
) has changed the Sirius spellings (which is used in the most recent English translations; in this case, its the Kodansha USA manga releases) to Tenrou
, which was used before the Kodansha USA translations. While I restored the Sirius naming on said pages (such as this one
) per some of the hidden notes (such as "For the sake of consistent character name spelling, the Kodansha USA manga translations are used on this page. If Kodansha USA has not provided such translations, the Crunchyroll anime translations are to be used until then.") and the notes on the Administrivia.Troping Works Created In Other Languages (such as "The most recent official translation of the title and character names should be used for the wiki", etc.), NicMasterTrope changed it back to Tenrou while making other edits just moments ago (as shown in some of the history pages, which can be found here
and here
). If I'm not mistaken, I'm suspecting this might be an Edit War. I've also notified the troper in question of this ATT query via PM.
Given the above, I have a question: any thoughts on what to do here (such as bringing it up on the English Localization Cleanup
thread, etc.)?
