openClarification on DC's Absolute Universe imprint
I have a question regarding the Absolute DC imprint. Everywhere from Wikipedia to the DC Wikia to even the offical DC site says it is the Absolute Universe. Are we using the incorrect title for the imprint, and if so should the pages be moved over?
openShados960
Half of Shados 960's edits are relating to fatness and weight gain and, from what I've at least seen for their edits in the Passion Patties recap, seem to be very gushy.
Am I in the right to be a bit concerned?
openThe Witcher IV Videogame
Someone made a page for The Witcher IV after the trailer dropped last night. However, it violates our rules on future works, as there's no release window as of yet. Oh, and they didn't even bother adding any tropes for it, so it would be cut as a stub anyway. There is a sandbox, and I was going to copy the tropes over from there before I remembered the page violates the rules.
openEdit war
Kasse 1998 made an edit
in Characters.Skyrim Civil War that I ended up removing
since I felt it was nattery and speculative only for them to add it back
without an edit reason.
openUnilateral quote cutting
On Confirmation Bias, trainerbob unilaterally deleted the CollegeHumor quote (with the incorrect edit reason "Null edit") in July. I added it back in November, sent them a quick PM pointing them to the thread, and forgot about it. They deleted it again three days later, and I just noticed it yesterday.
We've sorted out the quote on the thread, and my PMs say "this troper has deleted their account," so maybe nothing needs to be done here, but I figured it was best to report it anyway.
openSiIvaGunner subpages likely needs to be reworked Web Original
Sorry if this is a bit confusingly phrased.
Context: This query is about SiIvaGunner, a bait-and-switch YouTube music channel that mostly uploads “rips”. Most rips are just the thumbnail as is, but some can have additional visual elements or is a full video.
I’ve noticed two of the SiIvaGunner YMMV subpages, Awesome Moments and Awesome Music, are currently mostly interchangeable content-wise as both subpages mostly document entries about specific rips.
Out of the current 18 entries of the Awesome Moments subpage, 13 of them are about a specific rip (counting collaborative videos and rips not focused on music), and four of the 13 have dedicated entries on both subpages. Note that entries of the first two listed rips described their visual elements:
- “Agent Yoru o Yuku - The Idolm@ster 2” Moment entry
and Music entry
- “Ultra B+K - jubeat plus” Moment entry
and Music entry
- “Ultimate Koopa - Super 64” and “Ultimate Koopa Clear - Super 64” Moment entry
and Music entry
(these are both mentioned in one singular entry on both subpages)
- “I Love Beijing Tiananmen Fusion Collab” Moment entry
and Music entry
This essentially makes Moments an extension of Music with only a few additional general entries on channel-events, Colbert bumps, and other trivia.
Which leads me to this question: Is describing visuals (music video, thumbnail edits, etc…) allowed in Awesome Music?
If yes, then how much is allowed? And in SiIvaGunner’s case, what should be done with Awesome Moments? Should it be reworked to only include trivia and general moments whereas Awesome Music is for specific rips only?
If not, then how should both subpages be reworked and cleaned up? EDIT: I should've clarified: Will the subpages be reworked so that visual elements and trivia are reserved for Moments and music elements are for Music?
Should a cleanup thread be launched? Please advise.
Edited by Duy03openShortening a video Videogame
Ok so I’m making a video example out this song
from CookieRun: Kingdom for
I Just Want to Have Friends and I want to shorten it as it does over the 2:30 rule, while at the same time giving context to what’s happening. Should I cut the first part or the last part of the song?
openTalking Voiceless
Characters (usually in the background) are shown talking, with lip movements to boot, but their voices are inaudible (due to their dialogue being drowned out or not being necessarily needed to be heard, or due to either audio malfunctions or budget cuts).
For example, GoAnimate has an option to make characters lip-sync with the text-to-speech voices, but by default it's just them talking with no audible dialogue.
openIssue with user's grammar
The user kruczak seems to have dodgy grammar.
Some examples include this edit
, this edit
and this one from earlier today
that I just sent a notifier for and had to be cleaned up by another person
. I was prompted to check when they left a comment on my TLP draft
and the comment's grammar was improper.
openLooking for consensus on re-wicking some removed redlinks. Literature
On Jan 5, 2023 (old edit, I know. I just noticed it recently.) Troper Jane St Valentine un-wikiworded multiple RedLinks at this edit
on AsTheGoodBookSays.Literature.
- I've sent the troper a Red Link notifier on Dec 2, 2024; but I don't think they've been on TvT since that time
- I would normally just re-link with the appropriate edit reason, but several (possibly all?) of the redlinks were added during my edit of Nov 7, 2022 - Immediately preceding the edit listed above.
So: Does anyone see any reason for any of these works to remain unlinked, or am I clear to put them back in? FWIW, one of the works has since grown a work page.
Edited by underCoverSailsmanopenDoes GameBreaker attract walkthrough mode issues? Videogame
A question posed on the Arknights forum thread has me wondering. Does Game-Breaker examples (among other related tropes) oscillate between ZCE and Walkthrough Mode too much, and if so, should a TRS thread be opened for it?
Edited by MorningStar1337openhow do I change the display format in "/Related" articles?
I absolutely loathe the new update where articles under "related" are now sorted by page number instead of all being on one page. Makes it much harder to try to find what I am looking for, whereas before I would simply use "Control+G" or simply just scroll until a certain work name caught my attention. Is there any way to change my preferences for display to show the old format?
openEdit war on Rescuers
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes added an example on The Rescuers of Soundtrack Dissonance, and I removed it for not being YMMV. However, SGIYE just re-added it despite my reasoning.
openDumb reason for deleting a trope on Arcane Western Animation
This example was removed from the Arcane Piltover page a bit back with the reasoning "the voice makes it obvious" (I'm paraphrasing because the page has since been split and deleted)
- Informed Attribute: Lest is a trans woman, though you would only know that by looking at her voice actress' twitter.
That is a very very Dumb reason because Lest's voice is only slightly husky, and frankly even if it wasn't saying that a character is "obviously" trans because she's a woman with a deep voice is quite frankly borderline transphobic and the kind of thing you see in "transvestigator" circles. And if consensus is that deep-voiced women are "obviously" trnas I have a few dozen characters to add to Ambiguous Gender Identity.
I would like to re-add the example as But Not Too Gay.
Edited by BiggbyopenSuperhumanTransfusion Question
The Superhuman Transfusion trope boils down to a patient gaining abilities or powers they wouldn't otherwise have access to after receiving a blood transfusion.
Would this trope be flexible enough to cover bone marrow transplants? Bone marrow transplants (or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
if we're being technical) are done with the intent that the donor's healthy marrow cells replace a patient's damaged or weakened cells. If everything goes well, the donor cells engraft and get to work creating more blood for the patient. The patient gains the "ability" of having a functional immune system and a normal blood cell count.
openRuderuby
Today Ruderuby
has systematically been removing some examples from Fire Emblem: Three Houses subpages without an edit reason, with a common thing being that they are all examples they've added. I've sent an edit reason notifier and am interested in a response, but recording here for future reference.
Meanwhile, is there anything wrong with these examples
that I'm not seeing?
openClarification on image sizing Film
I just wanted to clarify because I received a message from Wilben about it but regarding images, the pixels have to be more than 800 right. They're saying that it has to be 350 so it doesn’t appear to big on mobile but I thought to my understanding that it can’t be 350 size

openPage has been cut rather than redirected, not sure why Videogame
Just noted that VideoGame.Sleeping Dogs is now a red link as the game's page has been moved to VideoGame.Sleeping Dogs 2012. I don't mind adding the year (though is there a reason why?) but I'm not sure why the first page isn't a redirect to the second.
EDIT: I realize why the year has been added - there is also a movie named Film.Sleeping Dogs 1977 - but my question regarding making it a redirect remains.

Hello all. I am VERY new to the site (in that I received edit privileges only recently; have been a long time lurker) and wanted to make sure I'm interpreting something correctly. I was looking at the trope page for 13 Is Unlucky and spotted this in the Live Action TV section:
Does that last entry qualify for Complaining About Shows You Don't Like? I wanted to make sure before I did any edits on it. I would prefer to remove that entry.
