Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

openWork and Trope named same? Web Original
I was hoping to make a new work page for the You Tube channel Minus World. However, there is already a trope called "Minus World" that the channel is named after. How do I get them to be separated from each other instead of attaching it to the pre-existing Main and Playing With pages?
openThe Painter NightmareFuel page. Web Original
Can someone help me to make a Nightmare Fuel page about ThePainter? I mean,we added some examples on the YMMV page, but I think we can add a lot more.
openDammit, Jim, I'm a Genre, Not a Trope! Web Original
Why the hell is the Creepypasta page in the "Main" namespace? Creepypasta is a medium (or genre), and according to Administrivia.Namespace:
It's obvious that the page lists examples of tropes associated with the medium (or genre), but no one has brought up this problem just yet (until now).
Edited by OxyrhynchusopenShould this be an index or a work page? Web Original
I want to make a page on those videos that have the US Presidents playing games (or doing other stuff) with AI-generated voices. However, since YouTube Poop is an index now, I wonder if I should just make it an index because it's a genre of video. I wanted to make it a work page because there's no single consistent AI Presidents series of videos, and the videos all have similar tropes.
openEditWar Web Original
On RWBY:
- Daniel Benner 8891 added this entry
about the recent episode.
- Soluna Rose deleted it
for essentially being based on speculation.
- Daniel Benner 8891 inexplicably re-adds it back
.
openQuoting an official synopsis Web Original
I'm working on making a work page for The Ballad of Anne and Mary
and I'm wondering if I'm allowed to quote the official synopsis from the linked page at the top of the work page or if that violates the site's plagiarism rules.
openQuestion about entries on Reviewer's page Web Original
My apologies if this has been brought up before, I don't know where to look...
It's been something I've always been somewhat confused about. When making a page about a reviewer in any medium, are the reviewer's own subjective reaction acceptable as examples? Or for example, are entries like:
- Designated Hero: Reviewer find the protagonist of Movie to be a huge asshole because of X, Y and Z.
- Follow the Leader: Reviewer condemns Movie as a huge ripoff of Older Movie.
- Special Effects Failure: Reviewer thinks Movie has unconvincing special effects.
acceptable for listing on the main trope page?
openI'm trying to add tropes to a fanfiction's page. Web Original
(I couldn't find the fanfic section of the medium finder) I'm trying to find tropes to fill out the body of a Fanfiction's Tv Tropes page, but I'm struggling to identify the tropes present in the work and name them.

openThe Rodfellows Web Original
I was browsing the cut list, and noticed WebAnimation. The Rodfellows was cut because "Too controversial. Problematic creators with active scandals."
Was this decided anywhere, or was the cut request unilateral? And if it was decided by a thread, then shouldn't YMMV.The Rodfellows should be cut as well?
openIs this really Woolseyism? Web Original
I found this in Manga Soprano. To my understanding a Woolseyism is a change that people like but I think this example is just "Blind Idiot" Translation.
In the Japanese version
So what do I do with this example?
Edited by mickey96open Issues in the RWBY pages Web Original
User Wyldchyld keeps mass deleting massive portions of the various RWBY subpages because she doesn't think they fit his ridicuolously narrow definition of what constitutes an example. This has been going on for years, and I'm sick of it. She's not the only person on this wiki and she's not the one who gets to decide what is and isn't allowed on a page.
Edited by SomeNewGuyopenWhat makes a YouTube channel not tropable? Web Original
This is something that’s been bothering me for a while, so here I am asking about it.
What makes a YouTube channel not tropable? I know we don’t want to trope the traits of real people, and I agree with that. But I feel like we should be allowed to trope what happens in a channel’s videos. In fact, we have that for creators like Markiplier and Pewdiepie (not trying to rag on either one, those are just the names that came to mind).
I’ve seen creators like Argulefumph and Stumpt get their pages deleted for not being tropable, but I politely disagree. I think if you take away tropes that apply to the creators themselves, their content can still be troped.
This turned into a mild vent, sorry. What do people think?
Edited by HMSquaredopenWebOriginalsOfThe2020s Web Original
Yo it's 2023. We should probably get a page for 2020's works, including comics, series and creators like Xiran Jay Zhao.
I have created a foundation on Web Original for either alternative to be cut or added.
Was the page cut originally because the OG one was posted in 2017? and it wasn't the 2020s yet?

openLetsPlay/Aquablade11: cut on false grounds Web Original
The page Aquablade 11 was deleted with the reason given being: "Save for possibly Department of Redundancy Department, this is an LP channel with no creative/narrative content."
That reason is completely false; the channel has two Web Animation series, The Aquablade Chronicles and Zukanov: Dogmas of the Quiet Past, on it. As you can see, the latter even has a page here. Is it alright to recreate the page on these grounds?
openWhat Happened To The Reviews For TV Tropes? Web Original
I noticed that our current page doesn't have any reviews for it, while this archived capture from 2019
(made before the Wiki/ namespace was deprecated) shows that it did have reviews. This wouldn't be so egregious if it weren't for the fact that Sword Art Online was moved to the Literature/ namespace after the LightNovel/ namespace was deprecated, but its review page
is still intact. Why, exactly, is this the case?
openTroper spreading misleading information Web Original
Bfb Joe has a bad habit of spreading misleading information about the contentious "If Mario Was The Last Man On Earth
":
- They started out by posting entries about an "alternative" ending in which Mario's friends hug him, forcing fellow troper Wingnut to revert everything.
- Then, just recently, they started troping weird things about "National No Mario Day". This time, I had to revert
everything
.
- On a non-SMG4 note, they vandalized Pocoyo's character's page... with info from an SMG4 episode.
EDIT: And now they edit warred by adding back what I deleted; while this time, they nailed the episode's info correctly, they still added back the tropes they added and that I deleted, some of which are misuse.

On the recap page for RWBY's final episode for Volume 9
:
- Full Metal Heart 20 added a Surprisingly Realistic Outcome entry tackling Ruby's ascension
.
- It was deemed misuse by Wyldchyld, who deleted it
about four hours after it was added.
- Full Metal Heart 20 re-added the entry, albeit worded differently
with no given edit reason.
