openDeclaration of EditWar and discussion ragequit on Characters.DarkSoulsIIIEnemiesAndBosses Videogame
I've done what I can to redirect tropers who still edit the page to this discussion
on whether an example is valid, but RemiV stubbornly decided to ragequit the discussion after a fair amount of tropers both on discussion tab and the related game forum have started placing doubts on the validity of the edit in question. After stating their intention of abandoning the thread, they even added back without reason the example I explicitly removed for discussion.
On a related note, how exactly do we proceed with examples when the work has so many ambiguities concerning its lore?
Edited by AnoBakaDesuopenI can't even with this example Videogame
From VillainSong.Video Games:
- Kanye West's Power
is basically about an all-powerful celebrity getting off on how much people hate him. Sound like anyone we know?
I would assume that the song is used in the game in association with some evil character, but the example doesn't really tell us anything. That rhetorical question is very unhelpful, as I have no idea who the writer is talking about. Although they explained how the song is villainous, the example still needs a lot more context.
Is it okay to cut this? Or does anyone know the proper context?
openShin Megami Tensei franchise, is Video Game Catherine Spin Off? Videogame
Hey all,
Troper Save Aqua XIII removed the game Catherine from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise page, saying it wasn't spin off, so I'm trying to get clarification.
On our Spin-Off page, we define it as "Spin-Offs are when part of a successful show, usually characters, but sometimes a general concept are taken and given a second show of their own". Catherine's The 'Verse is based around a minor character unique to the main Shin Megami Tensei games, Astaroth/Ishtar (a single character that can transition between male and female avatars that was taken from this franchise's specific reading of Ishtar's import as Astaroth into Christianity). Further, the main character of Catherine, Vincent Brooks, appears as minor character at a bar in another part of this franchise, Persona 3 Portable. The game also features other characters from other franchise games, such as the demon Nergal in minor roles. Fruther, the game uses the same Order Versus Chaos and Karma Meter mechanics and Central Themes as other games in this franchise. And, you can also listen to music from other games in this franchise on a juke box in the bar the main character frequents, along with other secondary connections.
As far as I can tell, this meets our definition of a Spin-Off in both character and concepts, along with other secondary elements, but is there something I'm missing here? should the entry be re-added with the other spinoffs?
Edited by ashlayopenQuestionable edit on YMMV Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn Videogame
The most recent edit to this page
is from a new account that says they are deleting "outdated misconceptions", but also deleted several entire examples that seemed valid.
openUndertale Videogame
On the Undertale Funny and Undertale Nightmare Fuel pages, you can see a sizable fan content section. There used to be a section like this on the Undertale Tear Jerker and Undertale Heartwarming pages too, but they were deleted last January with the excuse that you cannot show fanwork on a main work page.
As it is common for having Noncanon subpages to these pages (Tearjerker and so on- see f.e. Avatar the last airbender, Steven Universe, Harry Potter), I created noncanon subpages for Tearjerker and Heartwarming fancontent of Undertale.
Now however both were deleted, one saying that "website links are not examples and this page is nothing but a link collection trying to look like a blue link page" and the other saying that it was a red page already before deletion (probably the content was deleted before, and it was just left empty.)
I want to ask if it would be safe to recreate the pages or the content into the main pages as it is terribly unfair that fancontent that deserves to be there can be on the Undertale Funny and Undertale Nightmare Fuel pages but not on tearjerker and heartwarming.
openVideoGame/SIMULACRA Videogame
VideoGame.SIMULACRA has several all white examples. I'd go through them myself, but I haven't played through the game and don't know what actually constitutes as a spoiler.
Edited by Crossover-EnthusiastopenSkill Monkey Question Videogame
On The Skill Monkey Trope page, there are no videogame examples listed. Whenever I play the Pokemon games, I usually end up having two or three pokemon that I teach all the HM (Hidden Machine) moves; Cut, Rock Smash, Surf, Fly, Waterfall, Flash, Strength, and Dive. Usually these are Normal, Flying, and Water Types or dual types like Gyarados (water/flying). Would such a pokemon count as a skill monkey, since they utility moves are relatively weak in battle?
openGoldeneye video game cleanup Videogame
I think the GoldenEye (1997) video game page is a mess. It looks mis-indented, and last I checked (which was a while back), I think there might be Natter.
Can someone help me clean it up?
openPage Name for a ROM Hack Videogame
I'm playing through a Final Fantasy VI ROM Hack called Return of the Dark Sorcerer and have noticed it's different enough from the base game to warrant its own page. Would it be better to create VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIReturnOfTheDarkSorcerer. VideoGame/ReturnOfTheDarkSorcerer, or are pages for ROM Hacks discouraged entirely?
openLooking for Specific Titles Videogame
Is there a way to request new entries or something? I wanted to read about a few specific games, but they don't come up in the search, which I assume means they don't exist here. But, I would really like to read more into them and be able to find some quotes and stuff (the rest of the Internet has nothing). So, I was hoping that I could request for their pages to be made, if it's okay. I can't contribute myself since I'm not that good at these things. It would be great if there were a section for requested titles. Anyway, the games I'm looking for are "Gone in November" and "Far From Noise"; there are a few other titles I'd like to see as well, but can't remember what they were, right now. Thanks!
openTHIS WORK DOES NOT EXIST Videogame
The 15 Keys Rising details a game based on a book series of the same name... the problem is that there is no such game. Googling it brings up a wiki apparently based on someone's deviantart fics. The deviantart, the wiki, and this trope page were all created by someone with the same username. Can we have this deleted?
openVideoGame/PrimusUnderfell Videogame
Alright, where do I begin? The page is full of ZCEs, is only indexed to Undertale's fanworks page, and is possibly importing offsite drama. At the least, it's not related to the game itself and shouldn't be there.
Also, aside from fixing what I assumed to be a spelling error, Reptiny is the only one who's edited the page.
openSuggestion for trope that no longer apply? Videogame
The Infinity -1 Sword trope page lists Warframe's example as the War and Broken War. However as of the current update this is no longer true, because the best greatsword in the game is the Galatine Prime (has a higher MR lock but also better drop rates for its components than War's ridiculous 2% drop rate) and the best 1H sword is the Krohkur (whose blueprint is in the market and thus easy to obtain). Do I remove the example entirely because it no longer applies to either weapon?
open RE Trivia Fact Videogame
So, I just learned that in the original Japanese version the first edition of Resident Evil 1, (that is, the first make of the game, which came out on Playstation), it's explicitly noted that selecting Jill gives you the "Easy Mode" difficulty level and Chris, in return, is "Hard Mode". I figure this is worth noting on the RE 1 Trivia page, but what trope would this actually fall under?
For proof of what I say, I found it on this video, which reports it roughly at the 1 minute 50 second mark (1:50): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cfnl6Bt8_o
open2 Overlord franchises overlapping Videogame
Could someone explain why a tab for the Overlord light-novel anime series appears on the Overlord video-game minion franchise? They're quite clearly two separate entities that have nothing to do with one another other than being called "Overlord".
It also kinda messes up a few things regarding the pages for the video-game. There's a page for Overlord I, but it doesn't have the character page for the first Overlord game attached to it. EDIT: This just needed a redirect.
Edited by RetlocliveopenMachinima namespace Videogame
Just curious: is the index page Machinima.Super Smash Bros Machinima a correct use of the Machinima/ namespace?
openFive Bad Band Videogame
Is there some sort of forum thread to discuss additions to this trope? I'd dislike to add it and see it removed because it was invalid after all
openJapanese naming conventions Videogame
Ogiga99
changed a bunch of characters' names on the Fate/Grand Order character pages from Western to Japanese conventions (i.e. Shirou Emiya -> Emiya Shirou). Is that allowed?

What I asked on the title.
