openPossible edit warring Videogame
I edited
a YMMV entry to help it sound more objective, but now someone has edited it back to its original negative wording.

openIs character's name spoiler-worthy if shown in promos? Videogame
However, this new persona, "Wanderer" name included, was announced as a playable character
one month before said chapter's release. It still omits the circumstances that led him to reject his old names.
Should I spoiler mark this?
- Genshin Impact:
- During Inversion of Genesis Interlude Chapter, a character decides to reject his old aliases, after which the player names him. He is referred to as "the Wanderer" and "Hat Guy" in official media.
openQuery concerning recently joined troper Videogame
I'd like to inquire about a new troper (who apparently just made their account yesterday at the earliest) whose edits
seem to largely revolve around being critical of aspects of the Dawntrail expansion of Final Fantasy XIV (mainly the character of Wuk Lamat). While they're not the first to do so, the six-month waiting period from time of release still hasn't finished yet. A fellow troper
and I have made that clear to them, but I still think it's kind of odd that they made an account seemingly solely for the purpose of criticising one specific expansion from one specific game (and mostly concerning one specific character). Granted, I might just be jumping the gun, so I wanted to get someone else's opinion.
openUnfortunate Implications - possible flame bait Videogame
So, I wrote an [1] entry in the YMMW for a game called No One Lives Under The Lighthouse, detailing how a certain sentence ("Death of the slow is inevitable") can appear disturbing in a very unintended way to people from countries where said sentence was used as a slogan to justify eugenics against the mentally disabled, and immediately, without any discussion, the trope entry is tagged "Flame Bait". Not sure what this means - should I leave it there, change the description (if that's the issue), or remove it altogether?
openSuper_Weegee and Pressure Videogame
A while back, this was added to the funny page in Pressure
- Theres seemingly an accessibility option in the options called "Thalassophobia Toggle", which claims to remove any and all forms of Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean and deep bodies of water in general), Ichthyophobia (fear of fish species), and Chapodiphobia (fear of octopi). Being a game that takes place entirely on the ocean floor, with extended swimming segments, and features sea life as common enemies (Squiddies, The Anglers, Eyefestation, Pandemonium, Searchlights), the best it can do is kick you from the game with only this to say as the kick message:
"This is NOT your type of game if you suffer from any of these"
A while later, Tropers/Super_Weegee adjusted the grammar and added the note "which was sadly removed after people bitched about it"
I changed this note to "Which was removed due to complaints." as the original sounded complainy.
A while later I noticed they removed the Broken Base entry for the YMMV page. While most of the reason was valid, that being Broken Base requiring a six-month wait, they also added "Even then, the example only explains one side of the argument and seems to be written solely to complain." which seemed hypocritical considering the note they put in before, but I considered maybe they learned and I thought nothing of it.
Then they changed my entry of Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things on the Trivia page with the reason being "Rewriting part of WFCHNT because according to the google doc that Zeal retweeted, it's the players that were out of line and it was stated multiple times that creators don't care about the shipping as long as it's not in the Discord server."
Even though my original entry never once implied that the players were not, agreed the fans were out of line and I tried staying as neutral as possible, I just said "Some players felt they handled their discomfort poorly" which is not my opinion at all, I was just stating how the fans felt.
I can't help but detect some bias. Should we do something about this?
Edit: Fixed some grammatical errors.
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryopenAccidently created a new page? Videogame
While editing the That One Boss.Pump it Up page, after putting in one example, the first word of the sentence (Mad5cience) became red and it leads to a new main page. Did i accidently made another main page while editing or is it a writing error?
openEdit War on the Earnest Evans YMMV page? Videogame
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=YMMV.EarnestEvans&page=2
Just noticed there seems to be an edit war brewing on this page, the YMMV page for Earnest Evans. And its about the spelling of the name "Annet" (which its been spelled like in El Viento, the next chronological game.)
EDIT: For details, Sea Monkey claims the proper spelling is "Anett" and changes it for one paragraph. ACW fixes it, Sea Monkey changes it back to the other spelling a day later. IIRC that counts as an edit war, yes?
Edited by MightyKombatopenApproval on making Cookie Run: OVENGLITCH Page Videogame
Hey, just to let you know, the page on Cookie Run OVENGLITCH can finally be created. I wanted it gone until I released the game. I kept my word, game's out. https://gamejolt.com/games/croglitch/811645
openImage suggestion thread for multiple character pages in the same franchise/universe Videogame
I would like to change some of the images on the following pages (I'm actually guilty of changing a few before I knew the rules but it's still in-game art and not official art from social media or Steam):
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ColorgraveUniverseLyrian
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ColorgraveUniverseLedamra
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ColorgraveUniverseTheColorlessVoid
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ColorgraveUniverseGodsAndAssociates
But at the moment I can't make a thread in the appropriate forum to suggest these changes because it's at its limit, and there are 4 pages in total. Since these character pages belong to the same shared universe (TV Tropes doesn't count it as a Franchise yet because so far it's only video games and not other media), once I'm able to make a discussion thread, would I be able to do it for all of those pages at once, or do I need to do a separate thread for each one?
Edited by pointycatearsopenWhat's the policy on mods on the main page? Videogame
Title. Someone has been including mod material not from the core game on the main page of Shadows of Forbidden Gods, and I'm wondering if that's allowed?
openAbout F-Sha (Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution spoilers) Videogame
Does she really qualify as a Gold Third member? I'm asking this since the group's page on the official wiki
doesn't list her as such, but the group's character sub-page on TVT does. I watched playthroughs of the game, and as far as I recall she's never treated as such in-story, nor does she join the group following her Heel–Face Turn. If anything, she would fit better in either Antagonists or Others.
openEdit war Videogame
A while back, I reported
a troper (Moon Might Man) for adding voice actors that weren't officially confirmed. What I didn't realize is that the troper was edit warring, as they had added it
a while back before it was deleted then added it again
.
Any thoughts?
Edited by Ayumi-chanopenShould the ''fault - milestone two'' page be retitled? Videogame
For context, the page for fault milestone two covers the kinetic novel titled fault - milestone two side:above, the sequel to fault - milestone one.
Given that ALICE IN DISSONANCE split their plan for fault - milestone two into two games, with fault - milestone two side:below being planned for release in 2024, should the page be moved to only cover side:above with side:below getting its own page, or should it cover both side:above and side:below once it's released?
Edited by Arawn999openAvoiding an Edit War Videogame
I want to correct an edit based on a misunderstanding, but because it's in response to a deletion another editor made, it would technically constitute an Edit War, even though in my case it's a case of fact-checking incorrect information.
For context, I edited Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country to have the following entry:
- Ho Yay: Once again, Malos has a very charged relationship with Jin, albeit this time as his sworn enemy. He even comments to Jin flirtatiously that he has nice eyes.
Quanokark deleted it here
, claiming the line doesn't exist.
This is correct... for the English version, in which Malos says "Got something to say?". But I was referring to the Japanese version of the cutscene
, in which the subtitles clearly state "you have nice eyes" ("お前 — いい目をしてるな"). A brief check on Twitter turns up multiple Japanese tweets who also interpret the line as homoerotic in nature so it's not a fringe interpretation.
Do I need to make a special request to clarify that the deleted part of the entry was referring to a different language?
Edited by AlleyOopopenPotentially suspect edits Videogame
Troper Halberd Stop Crashing has made some edits that are rather concerning:
On Characters.Trails Series Calvard Arkride Solutions Office they added an Ambiguously Bi entry, which is valid but has a concerning part (bolded)
- Ambiguously Bi: He expresses more overt attraction to Agnès, which the remainder of the party notices and comments upon. He blushes when grabbed by Van, which may have an alternative explanation. He also gets flustered and comments on how built Van's body is, before 'asking him to forget [he] said anything.'anything,' among other things.
Being intersex doesn't mean that they feel attraction to anyone (same sex or opposite sex), that's what things like bi or pan are for. It means that they have different parts than a regular person.
Then on here
, they make frequent references to eroticism with one reference to homoerotism; I removed it because a scene having gay subtext or gay regular text doesn't make it sexual and by definition homoerotism is about sexual desire with the same sex.
I could be wrong on these so I want to bring it up here is these are worth examining closer.
openNEED HELP: arranging Destruction Derby examples Videogame
I was doing cleanup per Pages Incorrectly "Moved" by Custom Title when I moved VideoGame.Destruction Derby to VideoGame.Destruction Derby 2 manually note since there were only a few edits from the same troper and added the former to the cutlist since the page only concerns the 2nd game.
However, I overlooked the fact that the former page's wicks
could be referring to the 1st game or the franchise
as a whole.
I'm not familiar with this work to judge which examples belong to which installment. What should be done? One solution I can think of is making a page for the first game, but again, someone who's familiar with the work would be better suited for that task.
I'm sorry for this oversight, please help.
Edited by BlackFaithStaropenAnother user removing my WMG entries Videogame
Just now, ttuser023 removed
some content I added
to my own WMG assumptions in WMG.MultiVersus, while at the same time adding an assumption of their own.
As far as I'm aware (since the only content concerning about WMG entries that I know thus far is the description on the main Wild Mass Guessing page), all assumptions should be welcomed regardless of how legitimate and/or outlandish it sounds, unless it doesn't seem too much like a proper theory (which even then seems to be a hard condition to reach in WMG entries). This should imply that while you can remove assumptions you had added yourself beforehand, removing those of other users wouldn't be really allowed.
Aside from sending a PM to ttuser023 so that they can be aware of this query (which I've already done), what should I do in this situation?
Edited by Inky100openBloated Walkthrough Mode descriptions in the Arknights YMMV subpages Videogame
With the recent purge of Walkthrough Mode-y entries in Hoyoverse games (Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero), I'd like to bring to attention that Arknights has a major problem with that in its YMMV subpages. Specifically, Game-Breaker, Low-Tier Letdown, Demonic Spiders, Goddamned Bats, Scrappy Mechanic, That One Level, That One Boss, and This Looks Like A Job For Aquaman. Additionally, the High-Tier Scrappy entry in the main YMMV page also has that problem.
Aside from trimming and rewriting the entries (including removing former Game-Breakers and Low-Tier Letdowns), how should the Game-Breakers and Low-Tier Letdowns be handled in accordance to the difficulty standard of contents in AK? If we base it solely around endgame modes like the page for Genshin Impact, then the endgame modes that qualify for AK are:
- H stages: Optional main story stages with buffed difficulty
- Contingency Contract: An arrange mode where players select character/terrain debuffs and enemy buffs with their own points for a map, with a total of Risk 18 or Point 620 needed to get max rewards and beyond that being purely flex
- Integrated Strategies: A Roguelike mode with adjustable difficulty that inflate enemy stats and give additional buffs to enemies/debuffs to allies, with a certain difficulty level giving max rewards and beyond that giving nothing more than bragging rights
- Stationary Security Service: A deck building mode where players swap and stack characters from a deck to buff them against enemies, whose stats gradually inflate to ridiculous amounts the longer the battle goes
- Reclamation Algorithm: A Brigandine like mode where players must explore areas and fight enemies, who tend to come in waves and have inflated stats that can only be mitigated by buffing the characters with items
An alternative is to base the Game-Breakers around their ability to trivialize normal story contents, with bonus points for making endgame contents, including those beyond what's needed to max reward, easier. This alternative is inspired by this opinion
.
So, what should be best done to fix the entries?
Edited by Billy5545

On Characters.Metaphor Re Fantazio, troper Moon Might Man seems to be edit warring:
(Note that the last one was reverted by another troper, Chytus)
This entire thing reeks of an edit war so any thought on it?
