openYashahime page: Need to settle a debate. Anime
Hope I am in the right place for this.
In the character page for Yashahime, I added that the character Towa has a Strong Family Resemblance to her mother, Rin, when the former is in her human form. This was then reverted by another troper, Duchess Snow. I PM'd them to argue this, but in the end we couldn't come to an agreement. So I need to others to break this tie.
For reference, the following is a tweet that compares Towa, as a human, to her mother, when the latter was a child.
https://twitter.com/LavenderRitowa/status/1337708553662971904?t=SImvVKUMQnqyaI9e-YkZEA&s=19
EDIT: The following Tweet wasn't in my initial argument with Duchess Snow, but I'm still adding it. https://twitter.com/oinusama_ikkou/status/1337713758198644736
The following is a tweet from the show's official Twitter account that says Towa's human form's hairstyle was based on Rin.
https://twitter.com/hogoshamaru/status/1599355614886473734?s=20
According to G-Translate, it says "Higurashi Sakuhi #68 Higurashi Towa no Saku no Hi Character Design of Towa-chan's hairstyle that changed on the day of the first day,
Yoshihito Hishinuma incorporated the idea into the design, saying that the feeling of having black hair and jumping outside was attributed to his(her) mother, Rin-chan."
Duchess Snow responded with these arguments "I really feel like with that one link to the images of Rin and Towa's faces could suit anyone since in both of those images, Rin and Towa are squinting after waking up/regaining consciousness and I've seen other characters could make that same face.
I don't know, I personally don't see a physical resemblance between them, and given what Sess' VA said about the lack of resemblance between the twins and Rin (which I referenced in my edit reasons), neither does he. But I feel like Rumiko's statement about not designing the twins with a mother in mind is something to consider,"
And their sources "Here are some links with translations to what Ken Narita said:
https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/667032831373066240/yashahime-translation-official-guidebook
And here's a link to what Rumiko said about designing the twins (if you don't want to read the whole thing, just scroll all the way to the bottom):

openSalvaged Story Anime & Manga Anime
The anime section of Salvaged Story got its own page, which appears to be the result of previous Author's Saving Throw entries getting relocated after the trope became Trivia. However, one of the standards for Salvaged Story is that it shouldn't be something that was already planned, which would likely apply to a later development within the same story. I think this section needs some curation.
One example I would like to remove is from Food Wars!:
- The fact that Souma's father Jouichirou is a world-famous chef and one of the best chefs to come out of Totsuki initially seems to run counter to theme that Souma is simply an everyman who proves that anyone can succeed. Subsequent chapters establish that Jouichirou never actually taught Souma how to cook and didn't even want him to become a chef. It was only through challenging his father every day that Souma gradually became a skilled chef.
This is something that the author likely had planned from the start, so I don't think it counts. I removed it from the main Salvaged Story page, but it was brought back when Anime & Manga got its own section. It's technically a different page, but I might be starting an Edit War if I were to remove it again without asking.
open How do Ensemble Darkhorses work in Ensemble Casts like Pokemon? Anime
I had asked this on the Ensemble Dark Horse clean up but it was diverting the conversation too much. A rule is that an Ensemble Dark Horse can't be a main character or even a major supporting character in order to qualify as the trope is about more minor characters getting beloved. So how does this apply to Pokémon the Series where all the main characters catch Pokemon? About 90% of Pokemon the Twerps capture end up being plot important in a significant way.
For example, the fact none of Ash's regional aces appear on the Ensemble Dark Horse list tells me that they are considered too plot important/prominent to include. Yet we have entries for Misty's Psyduck (Misty's most prominent Pokemon aside from the now-released Togetic), Brock's Crogunk (Brock's main Pokemon in Sinnoh onward), and Jessie's Wobbufett (the third most prominent Pokemon in the entire anime behind Pikachu and Meowth).
What is the determining factor for when a Pokemon is too prominent to include? For example, would any trainer's first capture (like Butterfree for Ash or Buneary for Dawn) be eligible? They're ALL main characters either they should all be allowed or none of them should to me.
Similarly in the Ben 10 franchise can we really count any of Ben's transformations as an Ensemble Dark Horse? They're the tools Ben uses to save the day and they're literally our main character in a different form
openMessed up labelnote Anime
So I was browsing Characters.Urusei Yatsura and I quickly noticed that Ten's image regarding his 1981 incarnation is messed up. Anyone know what the problem might be cause the labelnote spelling is fine.
Edited by Ayumi-chanopenEdit war rule clarification Anime
Celestial Draco removed an example I had added with what I think is valid reasoning
, but I can't quite remember if it's okay to re-add a similar entry under a different trope (rather than put it back under Surprisingly Realistic Outcome, I was going to use it as a deconstruction of Waif-Fu). I did check the Edit War article and couldn't find anything about that. I think it's okay but I wanted to be sure.
Proposed example:
- Waif-Fu: Deconstructed: Rui Takato puts a much more realistic amount of emphasis on height, weight, and musculature than Fighting Series involving women typically do. Protagonist Haebaru Misora, a national-level karateka, only narrowly beats Romanian ex-sumo wrestler Vlad Rosch with a Pressure Point strike, and wins her first two Tournament Arc matches not because she's a noticeably better fighter, but primarily because she's much taller and stronger than either of her opponents (respectively Airi and Chompoo Shinlat). Similarly, former US pro wrestling heel Veronica Lin, a 205 cm, 110-kilo giant, utterly trashes her smaller opponent Elena Silva: getting into a slugging match with Lin is compared to trying to fistfight a truck, so rather than try, Maria Riviera outmaneuvers her and chokes her out.
openSeiyuu or Japanese Voice Actor? Anime
Something I noticed that a few creator pages (for examples Ai Nonaka and Tomokazu Sugita) call the VA in question "Seiyuu" (The japanese term for a voice actor). This is in contrast to other pages (like Aoi Ichikawa) which simply calls them a "Japanese voice actor". This seems to be a relic of the older days of the site, which made me wonder: should we change seiyuu to japanese voice actor or just leave it be?
Edited by Ayumi-chanopenEdit War report Anime
In YMMV.Chainsaw Man, Tropers/Smasll_lordvoice added an entry for Memetic Sex God. Problem is, it has been disambiguated a while ago and thus can't be listed in pages as a trope example, so I removed it. Later, they put back the trope and a slightly differently written version of the written example despite it not being a proper YMMV item anymore.
Link to full History page for YMMV.ChainsawMan
(I struggle to link to specific edits since every time I click on the dates, it keeps leading me to the base "15 recent edits" version of the History page).
openWhat to do in this case? Anime
On OfficialCouple.Anime And Manga, a troper had added an example of The Seven Deadly Sins (which, to clarify, is valid, so the problem I'll describe is unrelated to that), but the work was improperly linked (the namespace was wrong, standard brackets were used instead of camelcase, and the name went by the work's Japanese title despite it having a well-known English one). I fixed the issues and sent them a Work Title notifier, but in the next edit they simply zapped the example, saying that they were "removing misspelled words". If I had to guess, they probably misunderstood the PM I sent to them, because my edit rectified the aforementioned issues and everything was functional, whereas they simply removed the whole example because they thought there was still something wrong with it. At the very least, for the sake of assuming good faith, I want to believe that's what happened.
I'm making this query to ask if it'd be OK for me to add the example back. Like I said, there was nothing wrong left after the issues were corrected, and I'm a bit puzzled that they just deleted the example they themselves added (again, perhaps they thought the improper linking of the work made it unsalvageable or something).
openUrusei Yatsura edit war Anime
On Trivia.Urusei Yatsura (edit history is here
), czarinaatienza added a Relationship Voice Actor entry a few days ago. I removed it on the grounds that it's a disambiguation page. Today, the entry was readded. Since I don't want to get involved in an edit war, what is the best way to deal with this?
openAbout creating a page Anime
Hi there, I was wondering how I could create a page on a show called Onimai as I have found out that there was no page on it, and was wondering how to help create an article for it therefore.
openKingdom name changes Anime
Hey there. So I was thinking of making large-scale changes to add in more information to the Kingdom characters page regarding English voice actors as well as switching over to Chinese pronunciations as the primary way of referring to stuff. Anyone object to this? My reasoning is that not only does the English dub of the anime use Chinese pronunciations, the story itself is set during a seminal period fo Chinese history, the Warring States. As a Chinese person it feels a bit weird to see all these historical figures from my cultural background being referred to with Japanese pronunciation.
openOdd removal Anime
Arthas456 has removed this example
from AssPull.One Piece.
While it sounds like a valid example (supervillain with powers to melt everything on touch gets grabbed with no problem), what stands out is the edit reason:
Irrelevant, and not canon.
I fail to see how is it irrelevant and how being from a filler means it's not Ass Pull.
openReplacing images in multiple pages Anime
So I would like to replace two images that belong to two different pages: Toji Fushiguro's in Characters.Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Spirits And Curse Users and Riko Amanai's in Characters.Jujutsu Kaisen Others. Namely, I want to replace their current images, which are from the manga, with their official anime artworks. I know this likely isn't a free change since the replacement images are not the same as the originals, so I would require permission to change. However, I am unsure about how to make this change happen. What do I do if I want to replace images in more than one page? I have a feeling it might be in Image Pickin', but I don't know exactly where it is.
Edited by Excessive-MenaceopenFolders/Sections on the Shonen Jump page Anime
I'm not going to mince words on it: I think the Shonen Jump page is a complete mess, namely all of the folders and sections in the middle of the page. IMO there's way too many folders, too many gigantic folders, a bunch of weird placements that don't make intuitive sense, a bizarre Adaptations section, etc. I don't know when exactly this happened (based on the Discussion page this has been sitting like this since ~2019) but I do remember the older version of this page from years back and while it wasn't necessarily perfect it was significantly more usable than the page in its current state.
I'm bringing this up here to at the very least draw some attention to it and get some responses and feedback on what should be done before proceeding on anything. Cleaning it up would be quite a bit of work for me to do by myself/on a single go so I would appreciate any help with it, and I'd like to get some consensus on a few things with it as well. Biggest part would be addressing some of the sister mags; while most of the folders are IMO superfluous I do think some are at least worth highlighting given the overlaps involved (for example Viz's Shonen Jump app pulls from Jump+, Jump Square, and V-Jump).
openAnddrix is making unnecessary edits. Anime
Anddrix is converting the Digimon Adventure recap page from Japanese to English. Personally, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it being in Japanese, especially since that's the original language. I felt this was too big a decision for a troper to make unilaterally, so I came here to see if anyone else thinks he's making changes akin to vandalism.
Edit: Nevermind. Anddrix sent me a message saying that Sandbox debates have said they need to be moved to English.
Edited by Eddy1215openCharacter page with no examples Anime
Not sure where to report this, since the only related thing I could find was about TLP and works specifically, but Tropers/Kittenwishstar launched Buddy Daddies with no tropes and only voice actors and images. I'm fairly sure I read that that's against the rules somewhere, but I'm not sure where.
I want to send them a message about it, but figured I should get clarification on whether it's an actual rule or not.
openHow to make a new work page Anime
I wanted to make a new work page for the manga "So What's Wrong With Being Reborn As A Goblin?" but I'm having trouble locating where the page to place a new work is. Any help is appreciated.

Was planning to set up a page for the following link: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Recap/MyHeroAcademiaStarAndStripeArc
Apparently, it was taken down as a "stub"
