open Trying to avoid an edit war
On Best Known for the Fanservice, the page quote has a pothole. Back in January, I removed the pothole, but it has since returned.
I'd like to remove it again, as I doubt The Agony Booth included the pothole in their original quote.
I'm aware that doing so would be an edit war, so I'll wait here for moderator permission or consensus from the Troper Hive Mind to proceed.
Edit: According to What to Put at the Top of a Page, potholes to a work referenced by a quote are acceptable, so I'm good to leave the page quote as-is.
Edited by bitemytailopenRooster Teeth
Hello. I have a question about editing the pages about Rooster Teeth and its divisions. On the main pages, character pages and YMMV pages, I've discovered that some of the hosts, including Michael and Lindsay Jones, are listed under tropes such as Berserk Button when they're actually real life people. For example, in the YMMV.Screw Attack page, Destin is listed under Replacement Scrappy, a NRLEP trope.
I've also discovered that there are trivia pages for the RT divisions. As we all know, creators don't get trivia pages.
I'm a little concerned about removing NRLEP tropes from the pages per the Creator Page Guidelines, since we only trope what's happened in works. What shall I do?
Edited by gjjonesopenRedirects of the Commonwealth
I was just wondering if we could have some Commonwealth-spelling redirects for Gold-Colored Superiority (Gold Coloured Superiority) and Artistic License – Geology (Artistic Licence Geology)?
Thank you very much.

resolved Plot Holes
On both PlotHole.Total Drama and PlotHole.Total Drama Presents The Ridonculous Race, it says "Disclaimer: Some of the examples listed fall more under the category of Series Continuity Error instead of a plot hole. But for the sake of argument, said examples will be allowed to stay on this page. " Is this allowed, or should such examples be removed?
openAbout No Yay
Is No Yay less subjective than Ho Yay and Foe Yay? Ho Yay and Foe Yay are for unintentional cases, while the description for No Yay seems to be for intentional stuff. I always see No Yay used for intentional subtext as well. Is it YMMV because what's squicky varies from person to person?
openCan FanonDiscontinuity have a Downplayed example
I mean, Acknowledge the existence of the work. However, it has some problems to be accepted as part of the work, such as being Word Sequel and suffering from Sequelitis or being a Contested Sequel despite the fact Wordof God confirmed that is actually the sequel of the work but they decided that the title would be a Word Sequel case. (Sorry, for my grammar, I am not English)
openComplaining on World War Z, requesting revert Literature
Can we get a revert on the giant chunk of complaining left on World War Z, left by azbyc15243?
openDeath Battle controversy Web Original
So, troper Happyfrybreath made a YMMV page for the DEATH BATTLE! episode where Ben 10 fights Green Lantern, which is all well and good… but the examples in this page are about debunking this episode's outcome… and the examples are contradicting themselves. This episode was controversial, I get it, and YMMV pages are about listing and portraying opinions about things but Death Battle is very controversial even by Internet standards, so I think this episode just invites further controversy. What should we do about this?
Edited by MasterHeroopenZCE edit-war
In deciding to go and check up on the tropers I'd sent notifiers, I discovered that my ZCE-clean-up effort on Literature.Darkness Falls was all undone two days ago by the troper who made the page, Ryan 911, despite my edit-reasoning, page-tagging, and the fact that I sent them a very detailed notifier outlining the problems with the page. I'm a bit miffed and would like a mod revert, at the very least, because if I go and fix it again, I'll just be taking part in their edit war.
openWhat to do?
So a little while ago I realized the Annoying Laugh page has a lot of examples that appear to just be people complaining about a character's voice. (Note that a lot of these were also zero-context, so one may need to use the source to find most of them). However, when taking it to the Complaining thread three times, I got no response from anyone on whether or not the examples are okay or if a clean-up is needed. I don't know if the situation is bad enough to go to TRS, if the trope is supposed to be for laughs the audience finds annoying (despite being a trope and not an audience reaction?), if it's supposed to be laughs made intentionally annoying...
I'm really at a loss for what to do here. But I can at least show some examples of what I'm talking about:
- The Hunger Games: Caesar Flickerman constantly lets out this irritatingly jubilant guffaw in the films.
- Salacious B. Crumb, the Kowakian monkey-lizard from Return of the Jedi, has one of the most obnoxious laughs of all time. Nobody complained about him dying in the explosion of the sail barge.
- Mrs. Davis' sister Angela has a high pitched laugh, like a schoolgirl. The annoyance comes from the fact that she's a short, middle-aged woman. It's especially notable in the episode "Angela's Wedding".
- Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. Whether it's supposed to be his way of actually laughing, or as a sarcastic chuckle for what us lower forms see as "humor", it's annoying.
- "Aliens of London": In the last scene, when the Slitheen reveal themselves, Jacrassa Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen, their leader, posing as acting Prime Minister Joseph Green, starts laughing as his comrade removes his human disguise. The laughter continues all through the scene, and is decidedly not evil-sounding, merely irritating.
openWMG in Audience-Alienating Premise Western Animation
The Western Animation subpage on Audience-Alienating Premise has this Dungeons and Dragons example:
Dungeons & Dragons has six teenagers who go on an amusement park ride only to be transported into a world of perpetual war, forced to become mystical warriors in order to fight an evil mage trying to overtake said world as well as defend themselves and their Team Pet, whose cuteness masks its true nature and whose presence repeatedly impedes the sextet from completing their mission or ever getting home. Plus, it was more violent and expensive to produce than your average Saturday Morning Cartoon. All these factors eventually turned fans off and the series was canceled before any real resolution occurred.
Thing is, this is worded in a way that says Uni (the team pet) is considered evil in-Canon. While fans refer to him as The Scrappy and he is The Millstone, the idea that he's evil (or demonic) is only an urban legend. I don't know if the example even fits the trope without this bit of speculation.
Edited by Pisthetairosresolved Tropes on UsefulNotes
Per this ATT thread, I removed the trope lists from UsefulNotes.Katanas Of The Rising Sun and UsefulNotes.Armos With Armor, as Useful Notes don't get tropes unless they are applied to fictional depictions. However, they've been added back. Should they be removed again?
openIn which Index would "Future Works" belong? Web Original
Currently Future Works isn't indexed anywhere, and it's bothering me. Or would it not be appropriate to index it since it's a Sandbox page?
openRed Letter Media and the Max Landis controversy Web Original
I have an important question about editing the pages on RedLetterMedia and its shows.
Just recently, The Daily Beast published an article of first-hand testimonies accusing the screenwriter/filmmaker Max Landis of emotional and sexual abuse. While rumors of his sexual misconduct had long circulated, this was the first time that first-hand testimonies were actually made public. In the aftermath, RedLetterMedia has unlisted two video collaborations with Landis, an interview with him and a Best of the Worst review of Neil Breen’s Double Down, from YouTube. The latter is particularly noteworthy, as it was the most viewed Best Of The Worst episode on the channel at the time it was unlisted and gave a significant Colbert Bump to Neil Breen’s filmography.
While I think this should be addressed on the trivia subpages, I’m concerned of running afoul of the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment (especially given how recent the controversy is). What should I do? How should this controversy be handled?

open New thread in Projects: Long Term/Perpetual
Should I start a new thread in Projects: Long Term/Perpetual for cleanups on pages belonging to What Do You Mean, It's Not an Index??
Found this entry in "Orphaned Series":
"Several reviews of the Harry Potter fanfic "Our Obligations" assume that the story is an Orphaned Series. This is precisely what the writer wants you to think. He specifically wrote the last chapter as a No Ending just to give people this impression."
I feel like this entry should be deleted (not helped by the fact I do not remember ever finding this info except here, making me think that the author wrote this info).
Also, since there is already a page for Dead Fic (which I think needs fixing as well), is the Fanfic folder for Orphaned Series rather redundant?
