openWhat makes an character an Alternate Company Equivalent? Live Action TV
I been very tempted to slap that unto Kamen Rider Build's Evolt/Evolto, for i noticed he has a similarity to Jojo's Dio. For the following reasons: 1) both ancient in their own ways 2) hammy 3) manipulative/pretend to be allies/friends of others 5) madden someone into compliance 6) started their plots, Evolt moreso 7) familial tie to a hero, provider of said hero's powers 8) have no higher ideals than getting more and more power and manipulate people in some sort of facade personality 9) somehow able to attract a lot of people to either work for them or to trust him 10) wants to create a new world with a long scheme. But i really don't know how it would fully count as they are not similar species wise or in context of how their plans and characters are executed. So what does it take to be an ACE? Does it need to be a deliberate expy or can it be considered because of the roles they have in the story?
openCan Expy apply to an entire race? (re: The Orville) Live Action TV
Since "The Orville" is essentially an homage to Star Trek, over on the main page the Expy trope is getting hit hard and heavy. Many of the parallels between the Orville crew and their Star Trek counterparts are credible. But of late, examples are popping up about how entire races in The Orville are expies to races in Star Trek (ie Krill are Klingons/Romulans, Alara's race kinda resembles the Bajorans, Darulio's sexually open race is reminiscent of the Deltans, etc).
I don't think these are appropriate examples of the Expy which, to my understanding, focuses on a specific character not an entire race.
I'm looking for confirmation of my understanding on the Expy and if there is a more appropriate trope for collecting the similarities of races between two works.

If Alan from Show A has a Captain Ersatz or Expy named Bob in show B, should Captain Ersatz or Expy be listed on Alan's show's page (or his character page as the case may be)?
For example on Mick Foley's page the Captain Ersatz example is of a character in Fire Pro Wrestling, and the Expy example is of Abyss in TNA, both of which are CE's or E's of Foley, not that Foley is the CE/E. Seen this several times on wrestlers' pages, especially Fire Pro Wrestling CE's.

Can someone help me parse this example from Doctor Who S6 E3 "The Invasion"?
- Expy: Professor Watkins and his niece Isobel stand in for Professor Travers and his daughter Anne who had appeared earlier. The did not want to pay the writers of the earlier characters. Also possibly the sewer-lurking Cybermen for the subway-lurking Yeti — there's a rumour that this story was originally planned as a direct sequel to "The Web of Fear", before the writers of the two previous Yeti stories fell out with the showrunners over the editing of "The Dominators" and the IP ownership of the Quarks.
- I don't think Expy really applies here, as they are more Suspiciously Similar Substitutes. If I'm right, the whole first part of the example (Travers and Anne/Watkins and Isobel) can be removed.
- I don't know exactly what is meant by "The did not want to pay the writers of the earlier characters," but I don't believe it's accurate in any case. A BBC episode intro by the actor who plays Vaughn in the serial states that the actors who played Travers and Anne weren't available at the time the serial was filmed, so they were Put on a Bus and the parts were slightly rewritten for Watkins and Isobel instead. Can I remove that part of the example on those grounds (if the whole Travers-Anne/Watkins-Isobel shouldn't be removed entirely)?
- As for the second part, I don't know anything about the "rumour" about the writers of the earlier serial The Dominators, but accuracy aside, is the Cybermen/Yeti an example as written?
At the very least, if nothing gets removed, I'm going to separate this into two sub-bullets, since it's two separate examples.
Thanks in advance to any who reply.

I tried asking this before and i got no responses, i hope it is ok to try again. But i tried to ask about about editing a profile from Kamen Rider Build, as i noticed some similarities between the big bad and Dio from Jojo. But i think in general i want to ask, what is considered an Alternate Company Equivalent? If it is on purpose, is it just an expy? How much intent one needs to apply to make a character/faction/other the ACE trope? Please i want some clarification.
