openI would like to report myself
I would like to report myself for discussion in the edit reasons on
Trivia.Wednesday I honestly didn't realize what I was doing until I had clicked save. I thought I was simply putting an edit reason, but then I remembered that you aren't supposed to respond to previous edit reasons. It only happened once before I realized and decided to report myself. I apologize and will except punishment if necessary.
As a side note I am not even sure if the entry should be there but that is for another thread.
Edited by Bullmanresolved Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek Web Original
So I made a page for Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek the other day, and then I thought of something. I was going to put the series into the FanWorks.Super Mario Bros page... only to be confused for quite a while, because the series itself is based on a mod for the game, so do I put it in ROM hacks or Web Video?
I have no idea.
Edit: I just realise that I thought about it too much, please ignore this.

I'm browsing a page on the site, when suddenly, the tab I'm on changes from TV Tropes to what seems to be a page for Norton Antivirus Software. A popup then appears, showing that apparently, my computer has five computer viruses, and that my Norton contract has expired. But here's the rub; I'm from England, which doesn't have Norton available (as far as I know). So, I do what I always do against potential phishing: turn the computer off and on again with my keyboard, then open Windows Security and run a quick scan (better safe than sorry), before reopening my browser (Google Chrome), restoring my tabs, and quickly closing the "Antivirus" tab before it fully restores itself.
This has happened once in two consecutive days (as of writing). So, my question is: Please can anyone confirm that a) this isn't just a "me" thing, and b) the issue is being dealt with?
openI'm worried
Normally, I wouldn't be doing this, since I'm not seeking for any attention, but I think I should break the silence now: I'm currently adding a lot of FNF mods' pages and putting them into the main game's fan works page (and also in other proper pages so they could get attention). During last year, I was getting some users helping me fill those pages. Sometimes the mod wasn't so famous, so tropers weren't appearing in those rare cases, but I didn't mind that at all, plus every person has their rights to choose what they want to do.
One day, now in 2024, I've created the page for Glitched Legends, a popular Pibby mod in the community. While I was thinking on other mods to add and working in other stuff at TV Tropes, I've been noticing the page hasn't been having anything new; no corrections, no examples, nothing. I wasn't thinking too much about it, then. "Maybe it's because it's a Pibby mod. Even if it's a high-quality mod, Pibby mods are oversaturated, so maybe not many people are into it". Then I've been created other pages: Vs Slenderman, Funkin In The Massacre Night, Friday Night Funkin VS Chara, and so on. None of them have been updated ever since.
I don't want to make any publicity here, or force anything to anybody, since like I said, anyone can choose if they want to help or just see those pages, but I'm genuinely worried. I've been patient for two months now, and I'm not receiving any help from other users. Even Roastin' on a Cartoon Cartoon Friday, probably my most elaborated page during these months, only had one foreign edit, and it was only a little correction. Are my pages not causing any interests? Am I getting some bad reputation for something?
I'm sorry for creating this whole Wall of Text, but I wanted to explain myself clearly.
Edited by UzarNaimBer15openIs there any parameter for text under headers to be put in folders?
This is a question that popped on my mind when I was doing some structuring on the The Amazing Digital Circus pages. Specifically, when I put the "General" section of the newly-created Alternative Character Interpretation in a folder (to go in tandem with the folders in the "Episodes" section) among some cleanup, I went to check if any other pages had some sections with folders and others without them, I found the Heartwarming page, which had its "Misc." section without a folder; I attempted to put it in a folder, only to notice upon looking in the page's history that Shanwoo 444 (the same troper who created the Alternative Character Interpretation) had already done that
before only to quickly remove it as they were creating folders for each episode under the "Episodes" header, at which I quickly reverted the changes (initially because I mis-read the entries for a moment and thought I added the "Misc." folder myself, meaning that I could have started an edit war, but I sticked to what I did anyway after seeing I didn't just in case).
What I'm asking is, in pages pertaining to examples of a trope in a specific work that use folders and headers at the same time, should folders only be used as further subsections for headers that have distinctive aspects separating the examples (e.g. the episode it takes place in), or is a single folder acceptable for any header regardless of how the distinction between its examples or even its length (as the Misc. section in the Heartwarming page is rather short with only two examples)? Shanwoo 444 and I seem to have rather different ways of organizing pages like these, given how I prefer to put everything in folders to keep things neat whereas they are fine with leaving headings without folders unless they address things such as episodes. I'm not really sure if there's any rule or recommendation addressed in the Administrivia pages on how to handle folders in this situation, and I'm asking this just to be safe on what to do.
resolved Mass violation of Administrivia policy on Peter and Company. Webcomic
The author of Peter And Company, who goes by the username PeterAndCompany, I'm pretty sure just violated The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours and Auto-Erotic Troping.
I quote the following from the former:
- You may contest factual information and either make the changes or ask others to change it for you, as long as you are polite and respect consensus.
- You may inform us that your work has been removed and made permanently inaccessible to the public, in which case we may consider deleting our article(s). This requires agreement from the troper body.
- You may request removal of content that you believe is hostile or defamatory towards yourself or your work, but we hold final discretion as to what falls into those categories.
Nowhere have I seen the author do this at all; as far as I can tell, they also did not go to any of the cleanup pages. They instead gave a lengthy edit reason
stating that they are the author in an attempt to justify their vandalism of the page, which as Edit War states, is not sufficient discussion; Essentially he is trying to claim ownership of the page.
He has also gone on the trivia page and the YMMV page to do the exact same thing, moreso with the latter especially on parts that have to do with the main webcomic itself, and has also engaged in Auto-Erotic Troping on this paticular edit
and possibly the Main page. Admin has not indicated to me that he had the permission needed to take down what I wrote or the right to make the edits he made (the latter of which had nothing to do with removing misinformation on the Trivia page) either, so I'm on high alert with this.
He has also done the following which is something authors are not supposed to do, especially in regard to YMMV. I quote the following:
- You may not remove content from our articles on the basis that you disagree with it or do not like it.
I am open to input from the community and admin on this matter as to what can, should, or if anything can be done.
Edited by Stardust5099openWeird Edit Removal Reason Western Animation
On YMMV.Dexters Laboratory Walt K removed this entry
- Self-Fanservice:
- Dexter and Mandark get a lot of this in fanart.
- Dee Dee gets her fair share of this, especially when most artists think she'll take after her mom. It doesn't help that Dexter once described Dee Dee as "her hips a bit meaty".
they removed it
with the edit reason "inappropriate" (presumably meaning "sexualizing characters from a children’s series is inappropriate")
Whether you agree with them or not, YMMV is just troping Audience Reactions, and we’ve had other Self-Fanservice entries from kids shows. Even if it is "inappropriate" we’re just troping what fans believe. Is this ok, or should I add it back?
openBile Fascination Writes The Plot????????
If an Audience Reaction is a factor in the creation of a work, should it be referenced in some way?
As an example: I could add mocking references to The Nutshack or The Big Bang Theory in a work, because I and others like to make fun of those works. So, you could say that me showing Bile Fascination towards The Nutshack is the justification for inserting The Nutshack references or even characters in a work.
In that case, how would that be classified? It wouldn't fit on a normal YMMV page because it's an Audience Reaction expressed by the creator towards a different work, and not directed to the work itself; it wouldn't fit on the Main page because it's still an out-of-universe example. Should it be listed as Trivia under Word of God if I officially say that I added references to The Nutshack out of Bile Fascination? Or is it not worth pointing out at all for this site?
Edited by TMH-Sir-Iron-VomitopenNeed helping fixing bullet points and folders on a page
Today, I finally begun a series of edits that I had long been planning to add on the Character pages for Identity V. However, in editing Identity V: Survivors (Part 1) I was shocked to find that the page had ended up bugging up, leading to folders being hidden and bullet points for tropes not being put in place. I tried to fix the issue myself, but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know what has happened and how to fix it?

Incidently there's an article on Wikipedia (EDIT: actually wikialpha, wikipedia's cousin with lower standards where they pride themselves on not deleting stuff) by the same name made by a guy with the same name 2 days ago so it seems to be a weird troll going around creating pages for himself?

Edited by GhilzopenIs Paris Jackson's page a little too prying?
The biography for Paris Jackson talks a lot about her mental health struggles and self-harm attempts, which seems a little bit too prying into her personal life, especially since she's still living, still pretty young, discusses things that happened before she started her actual career, and has talked about how much she doesn't like being a paparazzi magnet. Should this be edited?

resolved Heavy-handed "badge of honor" troping Live Action TV
rr3elite appears to have a major Single-Issue Wonk focused on showing off the villainy of the character Zein from Kamen Rider Outsiders and their appearances in other Kamen Rider media, including this week's episode of Kamen Rider Gotchard. I initially reported them on ATT before
for shoehorning in Fan Myopia-laden comparisons to other works through misuse of various tropes, but it is now clear that was a symptom of a much bigger wonk, mostly afflicting Zein's sheet, the page for Outsiders itself, and various pages for Gotchard (YMMV, antagonists sheet, Nightmare Fuel, #33's recap) where Zein's appearance is concerned.
I haven't sent any notifiers because there's too many offending edits to comb through, but a lot of their edits consist of what they have previously been reported for, plus Bold Inflation, countless sentence structure and grammar errors, and "look at how horrible this person is" examples that stretch Zein's villainynote it is a sapient AI that has placed the world into an authoritarian surveillance state with the intent of mass genocide and has manipulated the heroes into giving it its resources, but I would hesitate to call a lot of its actions deliberately symbolic or nuanced beyond face value.. They also added Speculative Troping examples to Gotchard #33's recap suggesting Zein would have had a darker and more dramatic role in the episode, when in reality he only appears to kill one of the unambiguously-evil villains in the episode and leaves just as quickly to promote Outsiders.
I'm not sure if this is a policy violation in its own right, but I cannot deny in good faith that it is starting to compromise their writing and thus the quality of the pages they are editing.
EDIT: The issue has persisted despite previous mod notifiers and acknowledgement of behavior. More information in comments.
EDIT 2: There are still issues coming from this troper despite the above. As before, more information in comments.
Edited by TrocyteVresolved Page needs renaming
I noticed the page for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea goes by a translation of the film's Japanese name, when in English it's known as just Ponyo. TV Tropes has a policy of going by a work's official English name whenever possible. The normal solution would of course be to manually change everything myself, but I don't know if I'll have the time or resources to do everything. Is it possible to tell a moderator to do this for me? Thanks in advance.
I should also mention the film has a bunch of subpages that go by Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and need changing as well.

Edited by ZaperexopenHypothetical Casting Literature
I'm wondering if I could make a Hypothetical Casting page for Once Upon a Studio: Version 2.0, with it being a full-scale reimagining of Disney's 100th anniversary short film, but I think I should ask how many credits, roughly, would be needed to accommodate that page. The credits are already listed under Fan Works, but I'm hoping to move them to a dedicated Hypothetical Casting page for the fanfic itself.

The Real Life page for Mercy Kill exists, although last I checked, it was listed as NRLEP. It just isn't linked to on the main page itself anymore. Was this an oversight?
