resolved Auto Erotic Troping: Example Web Original
Recently stumbled upon this page which was blatantly and unashamedly made by the author in question, and it was recommended that I raise the issue here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/DarkFlameWolf
Is there any way we can tidy this up, or least make it a bit less...self-congratulatory? They've even included two completely unnecessary 'accomplishments' folders, and the entire article just reads like self-promotion. Someone has already deleted all the links to their social media pages, but it's still a very unprofessional article which I think deviates just a little too far from community standards.
resolved "Blitzo" or "Blitzø" for ''Helluva Boss'' main character? Web Original
There's been a bit of a back and forth between myself and another editor—TheAmazingBlachman—as to whether or not the main character of Helluva Boss' name should be spelled "Blitzo" or "Blitzø".
For context—the main character in question is an imp assassin who in his youth was a circus clown named "Blitzo", but as an adult he spells his name "Blitzø" (how it's spelled on official merch and in the credits, with the "ø" representing a crossed-out "o") or "Blitz⦻" (how it's spelled in the episode "Truth Seekers"—again to emphasize that the "o" has been crossed out) and pronounces it "Blitz" (which is how some of the other characters spell it) in order to make himself sound more mature and badass.
TheAmazingBlachman's point of contention, to my understanding, is that "ø" is an actual letter in several languages, and therefore Helluva Boss improperly using it in the main character's name to represent a crossed-out "o" comes across as nonsensical to speakers of those languages—akin to a played-straight usage of The Backwards Я. Ergo, TheAmazingBlachman has been going through and changing "Blitzø" to "Blitzo" because—to quote the editing reason—"Ø is an actual letter, not a silent O, and his name sure isn't Blitz-euh."
I'm personally of the opinion that—at least when referring to the character as an adult—his name should be spelled how the series does in the credits and official merch, but our discussion in DMs was going in circles without resolution so I figured the matter should be taken to ATT for a vote rather than risk an edit war starting up.
resolved How do you put new funny moments into an index? Web Original
I just made a new list of funny moments for Matt Rose, because it's new it hasn't been adding to the web video funny moments index. How do I do that? I tried to search TV Tropes for the answer and got nothing and there isn't an option on that page itself to simply click on or select something then add the hyperlink.
Edited by NKgameropenBetter Than Canon no longer allowed on YMMV Pages? Web Original
I'm trying to find when the decision that Better Than Canon is no longer allowed on YMMV pages was made, as I recently got a notification that amounted to "It's not allowed on YMMV pages anymore, only on the page itself" and I'm like... since when? I remember seeing it on the SAO Abridged page less than six months ago. It doesn't make sense that its disallowed since its inverse, Canon Defilement, is still allowed.
What's the point of having a wiki-like format if we're not allowed to have links to pages from other pages?
Edited by PhyrexianAjani95resolved What if a work doesn't have an official English translation? Web Original
It's exclusively in Korean. There isn't any fan translations either. Do I translate the work's title and character names into English myself?
Edited by BriliantDropopenCryptavolt Web Original
There's this You Tuber (not sure if anyone uses that term anymore) called Cryptabolt who is a web voice actor and makes funny videos about Dead by Daylight, mainly revolving around Springtrap. I tried searching it on this site to see if there's a page about them but there wasn't, so I was wondering if I could create the page myself, if it's okay.
Edited by IC420openHow should I go about searching for information on this wiki? Web Original
I know this sounds like the dumbest question in the world, but I wouldn't ask it if I didn't feel like I was missing something. The search function on the site itself (I don't use mobile so I don't know if it's different there) only goes 10 pages of 10 links per search, which is obviously inadequate for deep diving. I've found a way to circumvent it by putting -[insert page I've already seen here] in my search, rinse and repeat as I go along, filtering out more and more stuff to prolong my search as much as I can. However, I can't help but think this is extremely inefficient in a way that might be obvious to everyone except me. So is there something I'm missing here? I am aware I could just do exactly what I'm doing in Google search or something, but I just want to make sure if there is an in-site solution to my problem?
resolved Ban evader? Web Original
Longing Buffalo 400 has just started editing today, and I noticed some pretty suspicious patterns:
- Their username has a similar structure to that of Ikea Alien 209 (random words + 3-digit numbers)
- Some of their
entries have
grammatical mistakes
not too far off from what Ikea used to do.
resolved Useful Notes - AI Boom? Web Original
Just stumbled across this new page and feel like it could use some discussion. It seems to have been quietly launched a little over a week ago, in more or less its current form.
For one thing, I see a few suspicious signs that the text might be AI-generated itself; notice the em dashes, the lists of three items, "from x to y", the vague adjectives.... plus it's pretty poorly organized.
Be that as it may, it takes a weirdly hyped tone, almost self-congratulatory, and only glancingly touches on some of the huge controversies in the creative world around AI and LLMs. Obviously it's a hot-button topic that evokes strong feelings for many, including being a central point of contention in the most recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes... but there I go. Point being, the page as it is seems like one person's opinion that doesn't do a good enough job at taking multiple perspectives into account. It lacks a lot of specifics about the technology and the discussions around it as it exists.
That's assuming we even want/need such a page, honestly I fear Flame Bait in its future.
What do we think should be done with it: Cutlist it, expand it, find some more contributors and entry pimps to balance it out?

I was looking through the videos on the VideoExamples.Super Mario Bros page for potential videos that could be kept there, when I came across JustForFun.SMB Plumbing page.
At first I thought, "okay, this is a troper trying to have fun with that Advertising Campaign / ARG website where it's like it's going to the in-universe website where Mario and Luigi are running it"
But then I looked at it and saw it cataloged the actual thing the website was and how it worked both in and out of universe (the page itself might need some cleanup).
I couldn't find a forum thread immediately for a problem like this, but am I correct in thinking this shouldn't be a Just for Fun page, and should go to a different namespace like a Website?
