openEdit warring troper Web Original
Dr Mc P has repeatedly removed two Shipper on Deck entries from the Critical Role: Wildemount Campaign page on the claim that Shipper on Deck is a YMMV trope (notably both are about the same ship). Vorpoler tried to explain that it isn't but Dr Mc P deleted them again anyway. Dr Mc P eventually added one of the entries back themself but the other is still gone.
openAbout Fan Works Web Original
What's the stance on indexing Fan Works examples by work on the main page (instead of a sub-page)? For example, this example from a TLP:
Fan Works Batman
- Angel of the Bat: As in canon, Dick Grayson/Nightwing is of Roma descent. He considers himself a Christian, but mentions traveling with the circus never permitted him much time to study his faith. His first scene also shows him to be a trickster, playing off the stereotypes of Roma being superstitious to grill an enemy which ironically is a Double Subversion, considering Roma are also stereotypically connected to deceit.
openPossible example Web Original
(Sorry for making so much ATT threads regarding entries i’m just kinda nervous about my contributions and I want to make sure they’re right-)
So I want to add an example for Self-Destruct Mechanism from a You Tube series I’m into, and I just want to make sure it’s a-okay before adding it.
The Final Minutes - Zombie Plague: The Path’s compound locations are fitted with a Magno Loop, an underground ring that acts as the compounds’ defense system. It’s also fitted with Complete Destruction mode, which causes the loop to cycle through all of its defense modes before detonating and vaporizing anything in a 25 kilometer radius.
Here’s the part that the info comes from
, the self destruct mode gets more detail at the 37:13 mark.
openEntry Butchering on Shadowrun Storytime Web Original
I remember Shadowrun Storytime having a full on character list and funny/nightmare fuel list, as well as a few others, but now they're all gone and the page itself is unindexed. Is this data loss or has someone gone and butchered it?
openOverlapping character pages due to misnamed work Web Original
Transformers: War for Cybertron is sharing its character page with the unrelated Transformers: War for Cybertron because someone misnamed the former. The show is actually called Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy (also, I'm not sure if it counts as Web Animation if it's a Netflix original, since Castlevania isn't considered web animation, and War for Cybertron calls itself an anime).
Can I move it? And if yes, should it be to Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy or Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy?
openNightmare Face Web Original
Nightmare Face has a lot of examples from TV Tropes itself, which lists pages whose images fit the trope. The thing is, examples are not supposed to mention that they provide the page image. I already cleaned up a bunch of examples that had unnecessary "This example illustrates the show's Nightmare Fuel page", so do I delete all of the TV Tropes examples?
openIs there any restrictions on what can be considered as a character or not? (Vtuber/hololive) Web Original
So over at Characters/Hololive, we had a debate
on whether we should include a particular character in our Characters page, where each character we have there at the moment is a hololive member & a vtuber in their own right (with the exception of one), each having their own Youtube channel.
A while ago somebody added an entry for a non-vtuber character (Anemachi), who is the sister of one of the hololive vtubers (Suisei). Despite not being a vtuber herself, Anemachi has a character portrait and occasionally makes appearances in Suisei's livestream at an average rate of about "once every few months". So you can say she's a somewhat recurring character on Suisei's channel.
Now, a troper had a problem with the inclusion of Anemachi with their reasoning being that she's not a hololive member. What I would like to know is that if there are any rules on TV Tropes that state who should be "worthy" of having a Characters entry or not. Because otherwise I don't see any problem with adding what is essentially a Minor Character into the Characters/Hololive page (with the hololive members themselves being Main Characters), seeing as even one-off characters from all sort of works get entries deliciated to them on TV Tropes.
Edited by AsoktencheaopenProblematic Review Web Original
Kelekona
left a review for Protectors of the Plot Continuum
, which is basically them importing personal drama from their interactions with the authors and not actually reviewing the work itself.
I flagged the review for drama importation, and Very Melon left a couple comments criticizing the review for that. Kelekona then decided to make a YMMV page for them, accusing them of being "pro-bullying". So now, this has descended into personal attacks against other users on the site.

Dream has a lot of commented-out notes at the top of the page. While commented-out notes are usually related to cleanups and image picking, these ones are not. For ease of access:

The commented-out notes have been discussed by two people at the page's discussion page

openTroper with Indentation issues, continue to do so despite being messaged multiple time Web Original
A troper by the name of AmuroNT1 regularly breaks the rule written in Example Indentation in Trope Lists.
For example, some past examples of their violations include:
Characters/HololiveEnglish - Oct 5th
- Fun with Acronyms: During her debut stream she lists one of her likes as PWWIE (pronounced "pwee-ay"): People Watching Without Intent to Eat.
- During a Fall Guys stream she attempted to turn her own name into an acronym. After several false starts, she settled on "Giant Underwater Rubber Animal".
Characters/HololiveJapanGenerationThreeFantasy - Oct 14th
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Downplayed, but Pekora does enjoy in messing around with anyone in just about every way possible, being quite the mix of a prankster and a troll at any given point. However, she's very very kind, and she keeps all the gifts she's been given from her fans.
- As Pekora's fans are quick to point out, her main goal in her pranking is to make her friends laugh, rather than being outright malicious like most trolls. To wit, when Rushia accidentally fell into Pekora's slime trap and lost a number of items including an enchanted pickaxe, Pekora's response was to leave a chest full of items (including a new pickaxe) on Rushia's doorstep as an apology, even though it wasn't technically her faultnote The fall, and subsequent loss of items, happened mainly because Rushia didn't quite understand how Scaffolding works in Minecraft.
Trivia/Hololive - Oct 30th
- Referenced by…:
- [...]
- The Ancient Gods Part One DLC for Doom Eternal contained an Easter Egg that changes the title to "DOOG Eternal"
, in a reference to Korone's Doom playthroughs; although it has since been deleted, the dev team was impressed at how quickly it was discovered and shared.
- When the Easter Egg was reported online, the official Xbox Twitter account responded
, making it clear that whomever was running the account was an X-Potato themself.
- When the Easter Egg was reported online, the official Xbox Twitter account responded
I have fixed the above entries, but seeing that these are only within the hololive namespace, god knows how many other instances they have done this in other works.
Their most recent one in hololive is:
Characters/HololiveEnglish - Nov 13th
- Heroic Self-Deprecation: While she's usually upbeat, she tends to beat herself up when she doesn't do well at games, especially if it's something she knows the audience is going to be more knowledgeable in. In her first stream of Fire Emblem: Three Houses stream, she almost lost the Mock Battle (as in, the second fight in the game), and only won because of her last character being strong enough to secure the win. She apologized heavily for it, calling herself "bird for brains" even as the chat told her not to worry note Given how she had never played a Fire Emblem game before, it isn't too hard to imagine why she'd have trouble.
- As noted elsewhere, Kiara claimed early on that her "only" talent was for translation and that she felt inadequate compared to the other HoloMyth girls. Since then, she's proven herself to be a very talented singer and artist, and comparisons to professional-level talents like Calli and Ina are doing her a disservice.
I have already messaged them three times about this, directing them to & informing them about the points mentioned in Example Indentation in Trope Lists and even explaining to them the correct way to handle these specific cases, but I've gotten no response whatsoever.
This issue has gone on for long enough and it doesn't look like they will give even a slightest care about this anytime soon unless something is done.
Edited by AsoktencheaopenCleaning up a Nightmare Fuel page. Web Original
The Nightmare Fuel page for Marble Hornets has a couple entries that focus more on the larger Slenderverse/Slender Man Mythos/Slenderman as a concept, rather than the series itself. I'm wondering if it's a legal move to remove them or edit them way down, given that they aren't entirely relevant. There's also a few entries talking about extra-canonical things like the DVDs and ways real life might make the series scarier, and I'm not sure those should be there either. Any thoughts on what can or should be cut?
Edited by AnomalousEvolutionopenPlease help me compose a note Web Original
This might be yet another futile attempt, but I would like to enforce "Please state the character(s)" in Characters.SCP Foundation (the skips sheets, other sheets are doing fine). One major problem with them is that people troping someone else instead of the character in the header.
For example, SCP-5000 used to be filled with tropes belong to the Foundation (which has its own sheet) despite the SCP-5000 is (from the article itself) "a non-functional mechanical suit identified within its internal schematics as an 'Absolute Exclusion Harness' designed by the SCP Foundation."
This is likely stem from how the site march on with style. While many articles are named after the object itself, but some don't. (Although this isn't something new, although it didn't cause problem before because at least the object will be the center of the story. But many new articles on SCP Wiki are now a tale in skip guise.) For examples, said SCP-5000 is called "Why" while SCP-4000 is called "Taboo", neither is the name of the object. So I guess that's how tropers think "Anything is ok if they appears in said story.", and so we got purely narrative tropes list in character sheet (For example, here's one from Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 3000 To 3999:
- Apocalyptic Log: Most of what the foundation knows about the interior of the store comes from a journal carried by a man who spent several months inside before managing to escape, only to get killed by one of the staff shortly after.
Mind you, SCP-3008 object is an IKEA store as Eldritch Location. The journey is written by a man trapped in it but not the direct result of its anomaly, so the trope is clearly not belong to the IKEA store itself.)
I did add some "Tropes associated with X" to handful of skips entries because I think it should resolve some issue. People should at least aware of who or what they're troping and it can cover other one-shot character who's only has major role in one skip (for example, the aforementioned SCP-5000 has a good chunk of the story being about a character called Pietro Wilson who used that suit even if he isn't skip itself). The 3008 above? Troping "people trapped inside" (or the "store and people trapped inside") would allow that misplaced trope to stay with minor edit. Plus, that's how other sheet done. When troping a Stage 2 of video games, we add "Tropes associated with mini-boss" and "Tropes associated with stage boss" if they're stand out.
Unfortunately, it isn't done to all entries yet because, as noted, not all articles are named after the character and so I need to look up the article first (and with articles getting longer these days...). Also, even when it's done with the character's name clearly stated, some people just ignore it anyway and that's discouraging.
But lets try a gain, put a big bolded notification of "Please state the character before troping." on the top of skip sheet and see if it would help. Although I cannot write a good message and need help here.
Edited by KuruniopenDirect to profile move Web Original
So, in my review of several Super Sentai pages, I've noticed a few times a character in the group get called either The Smart Lancer or The Big Lancer (with links to relevant Lancer/Smart Guy/Big Guy pages). It's making me wonder if maybe these 'Lancer combos' should become either full-fledged pages of their own or maybe just side notes on the Lancer page itself. I just wanted to discuss this before launching any Trope pages.

openVideo example messup Web Original
Hey, so I uploaded a video example for Self-Destruct Mechanism (yes it's 3 am and I'm hyperfixating on The Final Minutes, if you want to know) and I just now realized that the video cropper I used completely cut out the entire countdown sequence and only shows the aftermath. Is there a way that the upload can be denied or something and I can re-upload a better video (with the actual sequence)?
openTheReasonYouSuckSpeech and the "commentary community" Web Original
In December 2019, this
discussion in the "Is this an example?" thread led to the removal of all examples on TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.Web Original that involve reviewers bashing works/characters/writers they don't like or that were posted in the form of comments on YouTube videos, etc. In that thread, I noted
that the folder for the "commentary community" that used to be on the page seemed like a bunch of questionably valid examples dripping with drama importation, and everyone there was okay with me cutting them.
But earlier today, I found out that TheReasonYouSuckSpeech. The Commentary Community was made from the deleted examples in May 2020 by Blazing_Larvesta, with the edit reason of "Turning a deleted section into its own article. Really hope I don't wind up clowning myself here..." The examples are still pretty questionable, and they're still taking sides in internet fights, so can I cutlist that page?
Edited by SeracopenReadding incorrect entries Web Original
On Characters.Death Battle Season Eight, this entry was added:
- Adaptational Wimp: Not Link himself — who puts up a strong fight against Cloud before losing — but his much-hyped Fierce Deity form, which gets hit almost immediately by Cloud's Omnislash V5 Limit Break and then dies seconds later without even so much as landing an attack.
I removed it with the reasoning that it was less about Link being nerfed and more of Cloud simply being stronger, as seen in the animation itself
.
Then Gf93, a troper that I have brought up multiple
times
for reinserting entries before, readded the entry under Clipped-Wing Angel, which again, does not count since the Fierce Deity is never shown as a detriment to Link.
Is it okay if I remove this entry?
openVinesauce Characters Page Reversion Request (No Longer Needed) Web Original
So, on August 23rd someone tried to restructure the Characters page for Vinesauce, but they've sadly done a bit of a botch job of it and made a mess of the page layout. If it's alright, could I please request a reversion to before those edits were made? It would really save me or someone else the trouble of having fix such major edits manually. Also, sorry if I've done this wrong. I've never done this before and I'm just going on the advice of someone on the discussion page. Edit: Never mind, since this post got no attention I just decided to give it some elbow grease and fix the page myself. Hopefully I did a good enough job.
Edited by BootlegSkeleton

Just to make it clear how bad it is, this is from Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 5000 To 5999
Obvious mistake like bad Administrivia.Example Indentation In Trope Lists and ZCE aside, I think the problem is how this is more like a work's trope page despite being in a character sheet (even the header named after the article, not a character or faction or something). And as such it troping several characters at once (mostly Pietro Wilson and the altered Foundation, despite how they don't work together), and include plot/narrative tropes. Seriously, if it has proper summary I would just move this to its own work page. But no, all it has is link to article and trope list.
This isn't just one case (please check the page's history, as well as other character sheets'), sometime they're bad enough that the folder say one name but all tropes belong to a completely different character or the writing gimmick of the article. And as a wiki, you can bet that this kind of thing will keep coming.
