openWhere should I put The Worf Effect? Web Original
I'm still clean up Characters.SCP Foundation from time to time. There're several examples of The Worf Effect across those pages, about various skips that the Foundation is simply unable to do anything meaningful with it.
The question is, is The Worf Effect a plot trope (the defeat of strong character) or character trope (the strong character that keep get his ass kicked)? The laconic page of The Worf Effect suggest that the trope's focus is the character, but the trope description seems to indicate that the focus is the event itself.

They added the following under Hype Backlash on YMMV.Gen Lock:

openCreator / Work Page Confusion Web Original
The page WebVideo.Loading Ready Live currently acts as a collective works page for the shows that LoadingReadyRun streams on their Twitch channel. The problem is that "LoadingReadyLive" is no longer the name of their Twitch channel, and it hasn't been for quite some time, it's now the name of a specific show.
So what should be done with this page? I see two possible options:
- Rename the page "LoadingReadyRun Streams" and leave everything else the same.
- Overhaul the page to focus exclusively on the "LoadingReadyLIVE" show and move everything else over to WebVideo.Loading Ready Run.
There's also the issue that "LoadingReadyRun" is both the name of the group itself and also the name of their (pre-recorded) comedy sketches. Should we have WebVideo.Loading Ready Run focus just on the sketches and move everything else over to Creator.Loading Ready Run? Or should we make WebVideo.Loading Ready Run Sketches? Or is this one not that big of a deal?
openWhich Tropes Are These? Web Original
I have questions about tropes in The JWL. I think these might be examples of Morton's Fork or The Chessmaster or Batman Gambit but I'm really not sure.
At JWL SuperBrawl I
, the main event was the 22-woman Royal Rumble for the JWL Women's Title
. Jacqueline came in at #8 and, to everyone's surprise, singlehandedly eliminated Chyna. Instead of staying in the match, Jackie eliminated herself and she and Chyna fought to the back. The following night, on Episode 22
, Jackie challenged Chyna to a match at JWL WrestleMania I
. Jackie won a Squash Match on Episode 23. After winning a Squash on Episode 24, Jackie called out Chyna to accept her challenge, and here is where the tropes I am asking about come into play.
CHYNA: "Look Jackie, you're the only one who would benefit from this match. I beat you, big deal, I beat someone much smaller than me. You beat me, I end up looking weak because I lost to someone smaller. I have nothing to gain. So give me one good reason why I should face you at WrestleMania."
JACQUELINE: "Because if you don't, I'll tell everyone week after week that you are a coward! That you ain't got the guts to face me. I will torment you and make your life a living hell. In fact, I'm raising the stakes. You versus me at WrestleMania in a Loser-Leaves-the-JWL match!"
Crowd pops at the thought of being rid of Chyna. Chyna is on the spot now and has to respond.
CHYNA: "I admit it would feel really good to kick your ass out of the JWL and prove that I am superior. You're on for the Loser-Leaves-the-JWL match at WrestleMania!"
Along with identifying which tropes these were, should they be listed on the main page or the character sheets? Thank you very much.

Yesterday, Doctor Nemesis added following as example of Serious Business.
I removed as being too generic. They add modified version today
And claims that it's no worse than the first entry.
Should it be removed again, and if so, should the first one removed as well?
Note that its entry in SeriousBusiness.Web Original has none of that. It has only one In-Universe example (there were two, but I've just removed the first one).
openCan I make a trope page about myself? Web Original
Before I begin. Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong spot! I glanced around, not exactly thoroughly, but this seems like a good place to post a general question. If I'm not using the forum right or there is a better place. Please just let me know! I'll delete or lock or whatever I'm supposed to do before going to the right forum.
Anyhow I've been lurking on T Vtropes for a while now, great site, and I was thinking of trying to make a page. The problem is that I don't know if I'm actually allowed to do that given what I want to do. For clarity I'm a youtuber specilizing in lets plays hence why I put this in web original. I thought it be better then video games. I'm a pretty shitty one and by no means a proffesional, but I thought it be a fun thing to try and do. Regardless I should stop rambling. If I'm doing anything wrong just let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it.

Edited by DoomRPGopenThe Island Of Doctor Moreau RP Web Original
there is this dead roleplaying group on Gaia online called The Island Of Doctor Moreau (Io DM) that ran from August 2005 to June 2007.
The main idea behind the setting is a modern version of the classic H.G. Wells' story, though instead of animals being surgically altered into humans, people (usually unwilling victims) are brought or tricked onto the island and genetically altered through a series of injections over several months to become animal/human hybrids. The Dr. Moreau of the island is one Dr. Nicholas Moreau, a descendent of the Dr. Moreau of literary fame. And the only difference between the setting for the story and the real world, other than the existence of the island and the "science" on it, is that the classic book was never written. The island is fairly-sized but small enough to not be on most notations. It is about twenty miles across at the widest points. Most of it is covered by deep jungle, though areas have been clear-cut for the village (the collection of duplexes the subjects live in) and the labs (which are surrounded by a high-voltage electric fence. The labs are built into the side of a dormant volcano that is in the center of the island. Sandy beaches are on the west side of the island, a rockier ledge on the east. There is a network of caves within the island itself. There is also a freshwater river system through the island and a large lake near the village.
On the island itself, the whole system is highly monitored - think Big Brother. There are hidden cameras in all of the subjects' duplexes and all over the island. Each subject is inserted with a microchip in the back of their necks that tracks their location on the island and allows them to be "buzzed" unconscious in the event of a bad fight or in order to administer them their follow up injections. Even the staff of the island is not allowed communication off the island, and a couple of staff members have even been turned into subjects due to misbehavior. Thus far, there have been no successful escape attempts.
But, all in all, the subjects are usually treated well, despite the kidnapping and being turned into an animal-creature. They are each assigned a duplex and have free reign over the island (with the exception of the labs, which are sectioned off by an electric fence). There is a cafeteria, entertainment room with movies and video games, sunny beaches, and deep tropical jungles. However, more than one lab tech has a cruel streak (it takes a certain kind of person to be picked to work for the labs) and use the subjects for some less than ethical psychological tests.
I thought you could make a media page of it

openSuperfluous Roleplay indexes? Web Original
So, I asked this questions in the comments under an earlier ATT query but didn't get a reply, so I'll ask again: what exactly is the difference between Forum Role Plays and Play-by-Post Games? The former page just seems like a worse version of the latter, being simply a bare index, whereas the other page actually explains what makes this medium special.
I feel like the contents of the former index should just be merged with latter, and the page itself cut.
resolved Edit War ...Death Battle again Web Original
In Jul 23rd 2019, qwigly added this to DeathBattle.Tropes A To C as an example of Bloodless Carnage.
- In the span of Weiss Vs Mitsuru, Mitsuru actually manages to draw more blood from herself (via the Evoker) than she does from Weiss
In Jul 27th 2019, ironcommando edit the entry to following, with "Evokers don't draw blood." as edit reason.
- In the span of Weiss Vs Mitsuru, nobody lands any bloodletting hits despite both combatants being impaled at two different points of the battle.
Today, qwigly edit it back with "Someone probably should have told Torrian that, as there is very clearly a blood effect when she fires her Evoker." as edit reason.
- In the span of Weiss Vs Mitsuru, Mitsuru actually manages to draw more of her own blood than she does of Weiss's, via the Evoker..
As someone who played Persona 3, I can confirm that it doesn't draw blood. And rewatching that episode of Death Battle, it's not really look like blood either.
openIssue with "Kayfabe" page Web Original
I'm really not sure which box this goes in and I'm asking more for advice and guidance - but this relates to the Kayfabe page under Real Life, and I'm wondering if according to tvt rules this is a legitimate entry. It relates to an online model called Lily May, describes what she does, and stressing this is not her real-life persona, but a role she plays for professional purposes. The links when followed, plus image searches, take you to what really amount to soft-core porn pages and in this light, the entry reads like special pleading for why an entry about a porn actress should be included on tvtropes; it doesn't read as if anything here is extraordinary enough to be included on tv tropes over and above "this woman is a professional soft-core porn performer and this is not who she is when she is not doing porn" - which is something any woman in the porn industry could legitimately state about herself?
So, does this contravene the "no porn" rule? I suspect it does and it's worth raisng here for a ruling.
Edited by AgProvopenPro Jared RoleEndingMisdemeanor addition Web Original
On Nov 22nd, Ozwald Edswald added the following entry:
"Heidi herself would not escape this trope either. During the controversy many were suspicious of her accusations towards Jerad, feeling that some were baseless or contradicted already existing information. Later on these suspicions proved true and many of Heidi's tweets were revealed to be exaggerations and even outright lies. Then when it was revealed that Heidi had been abusing her husband, her reputation sank even farther than Jared's."
I removed this on the 25th, citing a lack of evidence. I then received a PM from Ozwald with a link to a reddit thread
discussing it, but I do not feel this is enough to warrant the entry since it is very circumstantial points and is saying Heidi's reputation is tanked even though there is no evidence to that. Ozwald readded the entry earlier today.
Just wanted to bring it up here for review since I don't agree it counts.
Edit: I responded to him with a link to this ATT.

openLimiting vitriol/harsh edits on a YMMV page. Web Original
I’m the creator of a web original project, Diamond In The Rough, a Touhou self-insert fic part-deconstruction part-satire, and I also overlook the trope pages for it.
Recently, there’ve been some patronizing edits, but I’m not sure how to go about it. The edits have some legit complaints, but the wording feels hostile. If I’m not mistaken, the rules for creators on their own YMMV pages are stricter, but at the same time, what if an edit broke TV Tropes’ guidelines, but the creator wanted to clean up said edits while maintaining the essence of the complaints?
Here is the page in question: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/DiamondInTheRoughTouhou
As you can tell by the recent edit history (in addition to me hitting enter too quickly and having to redo my edit reason separately), some of the edits were either less-than-flattering or just outright broke the rules. If it’s against the rules for me to edit this, I guess let me know and revert the page, though somebody else will have to clean it all up.
I’d rather leave the person who made the edits out of this since, again, they had common complaints, plus it seems by the fast edits it was done in the heat of passion. I just mainly wanna know what I, as the creator, can do to clean up the language/what I can do in general within the creator’s guidelines.
Edited by Spaztiqueopen Bloody excessive adverts on tvt Web Original
As of today, there's a banner advert popping up at the bottom of the page that wasn't there yesterday - this is new. Seems to be organised by something called "PROPER<>" and however often you hit the X to whack it down and get rid, it keeps coming back and appears every time you switch to a new page. Click on whatever's being advertised, you get "ad closed by Google". Is this new to tvtropes, and how do you get rid of it completely, as it's annoying and intrusive? I mean - ad at the top of the page, ad on the right hand side, no problem, tvt has to get revenue - but ads spilling over into the actual content of the page itself - not acceptible.
openCurb-Stomp Battles of Death Battle Web Original
It's come to recent attention that the Curb-Stomp Battle page for DEATH BATTLE! has a lot of issues. The page lists a lot of fights as examples, to the point that literally every episode from season six is listed. However, the entries seem to only focus on the post-fight analysis that determined the winner and not how the actual fight played out. The fight itself could be portrayed as pretty even, only for the analysis to point out the discrepancy between the two fighters.
Even if the hosts explain the fight was actually pretty close, those matches will still be listed because the victor had the advantage, which seems like misuse. I tried to clean up entries
that were listed as "downplayed", but they were simply added back
with slight alterations that the hosts were just explaining the loser's strengths. I think the page should focus on the fights themselves, and not rely solely on the post-fight wrap-up. At the very least, the page needs a clean-up.

Peng 1 recently deleted nearly everything off That Guy with the Glasses and replaced it with a single line denouncing the show. I'm not capable of fixing the page myself since I don't really know how the editing works, plus I'm not sure what the proper response to said troper is. Regardless, figured I should bring it up, even if I'm not entirely sure this is the right place... And now another troper, Magicwolf 78, in his own words, plugged his favorite book series on the page as well.
