openMore of a correction Anime
I didn't feel comfortable changing it myself, but in the Art Shift entry for Megazone 23, it erroneously lists Haruhiko Mikimoto as the character designer for part 1. This is only true for the character, EVE. Despite the very similar art style, the other characters in Part 1 were designed by Toshihiro Hirano.
While not really an error per se, in the Gratuitous English entry, Shogo's SEX WAX jacket in Part 2 isn't actually Gratuitous English, it's an actual real-life American brand of surfboard wax produced in California!
openRedeem trope and in-universe YMMV or trivia tropes Anime
I'm searching for a trope where the finale of a show (in-universe btw, the series is about acting) basically was hated by the audience, but redeemed itself with a good final episode.
And since it's a show about acting, I found other tropes that would fit, if only they weren't marked as YMMV or trivia tropes. Can they still be added to the main page then, since they are in-universe?
openOn JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Ensemble Dark Horse page. Anime
A few days ago, a troper by the name of 227someguy made two edits to the Ensemble Dark Horse page to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Personally, I feel that these two edits were unjustified and should be reverted back, but from what I understand, doing that would be considered starting an Edit War, so I decided to come here and get other people's opinion on it.
In their first edit, they removed the bolded line from this example:
"One of the earliest examples: Robert Edward O. Speedwagon. Despite the fact that he can't use the Ripple and doesn't fight (Zeppelli even notes that he's more or less useless despite his friendship with Jonathan), he's popular with Western and Eastern fans alike. Must be his Nice Hat. In fact, he's arguably the biggest example of this in the series. Even though it's been several years since he's been relevant in the story (either in the manga or the anime adaptation) he still maintains a devoted fandom."
Their justification for this was that this was a case of Examples Are Not Arguable. However, Examples Are Not Arguable seems to only apply when the example itself is being argued, which isn't the case here (Speedwagon is most definitely an Ensemble Dark Horse), rather, what can be argued is that Speedwagon is the most notable example of an Ensemble Dark Horse in the series.
In their second edit, which is the one I'm more opposed to, they changed a sentence to refer to the character Cioccolata as an Evil Counterpart to the character Giorno to instead refer to him as Giorno's foil, citing it as a case of Square Peg, Round Trope. Personally, I do not see how that is the case, as Evil Counterpart is defined as an evil character who shares traits with a heroic character, which I feel Cioccolata fits the bill for (both him and Giorno are intelligent men who use a polite demeanor to hide their hidden violent sides, and both have abilities based around directly manipulating life).
Basically, I'd like to get some other's opinions on these edits and see whether or not they should be changed back.
Edited by lpk675openKaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi cleanup required? Anime
I mentioned this in the Winter Anime 2021 thread, I have not read the light novels or manga. So I didn't want to make changes to the page myself.
I got kind of a skeevy/immature vibe from how parts of this page
is written.
Specifically the "Let the party begin." part and basically all of the times Karmic Rape is potholed. For a specific example see the Karmic Rape trope. It just feels like the article is tacitly approving of those actions.
The thing is, I'm not sure if this is against the wiki policy, or if it should be left as is.
openBrewing Edit War: Self Rpeorting Anime
There are some issues ongoing in the https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/YuGiOhSEVENS
page revolving around the Broken Base entry. Namely about the use of a 'repetitive duels' part of the B.B.
Main argument point being my 'this is what people are saying in reaction the duels' versus 'repetitive duels are hardly just Sevens'.
It's going back and forth at this point between myself and Jackpot 21 and should probably get a intervention sooner rather than later.
openEdit Warring on YMMV/Overlord2012 Anime
Leonidaz made some edits to the Overlord (2012) page on roughly 1/12.
- Memetic Badass: Ainz Ooal Gown is regarded as one of the most overpowered, invincible and badass villains and protagonists in Isekai history. An unusual case in that Ainz is indeed invencible and in-universe everybody regards him as the ultimate superior being, but in reality Ainz is far from being the unbeatable badass everyone thinks he is, he is just lucky to always meet foes weaker or dumber than him.
- Rooting for the Empire: It's rather hard to root for Ainz and the rest of the gang when they act like your typical Fantasy JRPG villains. The fact that they easily steamroll through any obstacle or foe, all the while acting over the top arrogant and snide at the other races and people around them does not help matters. You WISH the antagonist of the arc would actually smack the smirks right off of their faces just for a change of pace (though a bunch of them, such as the Eight Fingers, are even worse than them). The Tomb of Nazarick's over the top entrance and sadistic subjugation of the Lizardfolk (a peaceful community they went to war with just as an "experiment") has been seen as rather infuriating for readers. Though, after they were conquered, Ainz then ordered Cocytus to rule over them with the carrot and not the stick, showing that he's not a total sadist. However, Ainz later unleashed five abominations on a huge, mostly conscript, army and showed nothing but glee towards breaking the record of how many monsters were summoned at once, not even feeling anything about all those who his summoned monstrosities slaughtered. And then there's everything about Demiurge's "livestock". Seriously, many fans of Overlord would want a crossover with other series just so Ainz could face a challenge and be defeated JUST ONCE.
- Spiritual Adaptation: If you unfocus your eyes, you can almost convince yourself you’re watching an anime adaptation of Den.
- That One Boss: For the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick this title can easily be assigned to Victim, Guardian of the 8th Level. The irony of it all is that Victim is only level 35 and the weakest Guardian. His power comes from being able to sacrifice himself, which causes an onslaught of crippling status debuffs and movement lockdown effects, allowing the rest of Nazarick's forces to kill the invaders at their leisure. To emphasise this point; no Raid Party in Yggdrasil had ever gotten past it.
I removed the areas marked in bold, Spiritual Adaptation, and That One Boss because of the nature of these edits.
- Memetic Badass not only had misspelling, but it also reads as a Justifying Edit and conflicts with the trope.
- Rooting for the Empire has an unnecessary point at the end and has no reason to be there.
- Spiritual Adaptation reads as a ZCE since it doesn't explain how it is one.
- That One Boss is being used for an In-Universe example, so it doesn't make sense to include it.
After removing them on 1/13, said troper returned and added them back in without a message. I sent them a message notifying them I would be making this.
Edited by keyblade333openBiased edits on page Anime
On the Sk8 the Infinity page, there was some biased information heavily favoring the ship Reki/Langa. I edited out that stuff last night and told them to add it to YMMV, because the ship isn't canon yet and might not become canon. So far all there's been is typical sports anime fanservice. Today someone added it back saying:
"langa's "ambiguously gay" isn't THAT ambiguous despite being placed under there for now (especially for anime which have to work around censors) so Power of Love fits (he essentially gasps and blushes when asked if he likes reki [question assumed by him], then realizes the "feeling" that makes him fly in ep9). if he suddenly goes "actually no homo bro" out loud in-series it'd be better filed under power of friendship. (unless tvtr doesn't list, ex., nge's kaworu under romantic tropes... he's only Very Heavily implied to be a love interest of shinji.) the power of love + mythical motifs is about his feelings, not reki's. ia the "romantic-tinged" was pretty ham"
I strongly disagree with this. Also another biased thing they put in the page was: "While it's It's apparent that Reki feels as if he can't reach Langa (and the star), unknowingly to Reki and Langa and the increasing tension that builds between them over it, for Langa, the star likely stands for Reki himself)."
For Langa the star didn't hold any significance. It was just a graffiti target on the wall that he could do a cool skateboarding trick with. Reki was the one who worked himself up about the star trying to reach it while Langa wasn't around.
Is there anything I can do? I don't want to be involved in an edit war, but this stuff is just flat out wrong. The user perona keeps edit warring and adding incorrect info to the page.
Edited by sakanoopenUnbuilt Trope again Anime
(NSFW)
Few days ago, I removed this Monster Musume entry from UnbuiltTrope.Anime And Manga (originally a two bullets entry).
- Animal-based species are given the strength of their respective animals to match, and examined realistically as well. With the exception of Rachneranote who does know her strength and Lalanote who is fundamentally no different than a normal human outside of her being headless, Kimihito's monster girls frequently have trouble holding their strength back, which results in him getting injured. Should any of them not hold back any of their strength, such as during a full moon, their strength could literally kill him.
My reason is that this one is a plain Deconstruction. As noted in the work page, Monster Musume is Bleached Underpants of Living with Monster Girl (and I would like to add that it's also know as My Life with Monster Girl), itself is fanwork of Monster Girl Encyclopedia, an escapism porn (we used to have pages for it, but it got cut by P5 for lolicon content). In that work, it's noted that monster girls' strenght or pointy bodyparts will never harm their husband thank to their innate succubi mana. Oyakado deconstructed it since Living with Monster Girl with two strips showing how sex with monster girls can leave their mates with scars and marks (I don't think I can provide a link here, am I?).
Today, Tehrannotaur add it back. Claims that "unbuilt trope is that the trope was played with (this includes deconstructed) before it was popularized (and in some case the epitome itself played with that trope). While monster musume wasn't the first monster girl-centric series, it popularized the genre".
But as noted, this one is direct deconstruction to its parent work. It pick an element (monster girls can't accidently harm their husbands) and potray it as how it should be (originally when they get too excite during sex, then Bleached Underpants version expand it to everyday life).
In other words, this isn't the case of "the work that popularized the genre use a trope in unusual way", it's "the work that popularized the genre deconstruct the older work, but the later work follow the older one". Not unbuilt, just a plain deconstruction.
Edited by KuruniopenFranchise Killing in Digimon Anime
So, Digimon is registered in Franchise Killer under the following context: The decline of the virtual pet craze caused Digimon to take a few major knocks in the merch sales, and it wasn't helped by Digimon Tamers underperforming in its target demographic (though it did end up Vindicated by History when older audiences rediscovered it). Digimon Frontier attempted to reverse the decline by retooling itself as a Henshin Hero series, but this alienated a chunk of existing fans and failed to create enough new ones, putting the franchise on ice until Digimon Data Squad four years later. And then it went on hiatus until Digimon Fusion four years later again. And then another hiatus until Digimon Adventure tri. four years later yet again (five'' years later with Digimon Universe: App Monsters if only counting TV shows). Needless to say, the franchise has had it rough since its heyday.
I have to ask, is this valid? Considering the franchise still continues to this day, does it really belong on the Franchise Killer page?

openYMMV page for Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon Anime
May I ask if a mod can look over the YMMV page for this series? For the last several months there has been an editing war going on there that I have participated in. I’m not going to make excuses for myself, but my goal in the edits has been to promote factual information about this series. However I was personally called out by Lancelot 07 in an edit on October 7th, which to me sounded like a threat against me making further edits. At this point I feel a mod needs to step in. I’m not going to make any further edits on this page, and if it’s felt that my conduct has been against website rules I will accept that. But I believe there needs to be intervention at this point.

Edited by N1KFopenYGO Sevens Fridge removed by Jackpot for no obvious reason Anime
...Yeah, this again.
So I had put a bit of an expansion on a Fridge observation. This is an original.
...
During Yuga and Luke’s duel near the end of the Team Battle Royal Arc, they both use an old card that perfectly reflects their character’s: Luke used Pot of Greed, which lets him draw two cards for no cost, reflecting his huge ego and desire to be the best either blinding him to the real problems the characters are facing, or directly contribute to them. Yuga used Graceful Charity, which lets him draw three cards, but then has to discard two for the cost, reflecting his selfless nature to make dueling enjoyable and making sacrifices to help others. This is further exemplified during the Goha Siblings Arc, where Luke sided with Yuo without any hesitation under the belief he was the sixth sibling, while Yuga, after defeating The☆Lukeman, negotiates with Yuo to reinstate his siblings as president in exchange for him working for Goha.
...
This is what I added
...
- This is not the only way of reflecting on their characteristics. Yuga's use of Graceful Charity allows him to set up long term strategies with the graveyard, such as Kuribot and massing Level 7 monsters for his trap cards, showing his strategic mindset. Meanwhile Luke's preference for more simple and straightforward strategies is shown by him just drawing two cards. He gets what he needs without any side effects or costs in a straightforward but effective manner.
...
Jackpot removed it, and I have no idea why or for what. I don't see why as there are several tropes elsewhere in Sevens about how Yuga prefers more complicated strategies and Luke prefers simpler and straightforward ones and adding onto the above discussion with a second layer of how it reflects the two of them's preferences seems like it shouldn't be an issue. Expanding on fridge points with additional elements happens all the time, and I have no idea why Jackpot removed it.
Please assist.
(NOTE: I am specifically referring to the above Fridge. Jackpot's removed or messed with several edits of mine on other pages in both Sevens pages and Ladybug's fridge page recently, but I have discussions on their own pages about those incidents. This is specifically on this fridge issue only. Please keep it to this specific topic for Mod preferences).
openHow do I create an Awesome Music page? Anime
(Apologies for the wall of text, TL;DR will be provided.)
Being a musician and fan of music (particularly OSTs), Awesome Music pages are my favorite thing to view on this site. However, I was disappointed to find that Dr. Stone had no Awesome Music page to speak of. I've been tempted to make it myself, but the reason why I enjoy visiting this site is to hear how other people describe things. If the majority of a page is written by me, it defeats the purpose and ceases being fun. With that aside, I've accepted that there are times when I must be that person for others, as opposed to the inverse.
Anyway, here's what I'm struggling with. Since I'm still relatively new to editing on the site, navigating the rules, forums, and resources is painfully difficult. I've searched numerous times for instructions or guidelines on how to create an Awesome Music page, but have come up empty-handed. When clicking "Create New" on the Main for Dr. Stone, there's no option for Awesome Music.
I can think of a few reasons as to why I haven't figured this out yet. One, I'm stupid and the answer is staring me in the face. Or two, I've been looking in all the wrong places. Knowing me, the former seems to be the most likely scenario.
TL;DR: I'm a newbie idiot, so I need help figuring out how to start an Awesome Music page for Dr. Stone.
Edited by NexyopenFena = Wasted character? Anime
Ok, with Fena: Pirate Princess finally over, I gotta ask: does the titular character really qualify for They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character? Her entry in the YMMV page reads:
"Fena herself, despite being the main and title character. All throughout the series, Fena is rarely, if ever, allowed to actually do anything on her own, and it actively ignores opportunities to let her grow as a person or do anything that doesn't involve getting kidnapped, having the plot explained to her, or being saved by other people. Any attempt at letting her do something on her own is handwaved away, such as when she leads the party to where the coordinates are in the underground tomb, not because she herself does it, but because a mysterious voice said so. She's basically a Pinball Protagonist with little to no agency in her own series, and more than a few people noticed this.
"
1. Fena is the protagonist and by definition, she can't get wasted because we follow the story from her perspective. 2. TWAPGC is "this character was insufficiently developed or improperly explored", not "I didn't like the direction this character went through."
So, what do you think?
openrequesting an addition Anime

open YMMV Pokemon Journeys/2019 Anime issue: Jackpot21 versus Franchise Original Sin Anime
...Yes, I know, but this is a trope I really stand for, stand on, and I want to fix it without starting an edit war.
Okay, so here's what Jackpot
removed.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/PokemonJourneysTheSeries
...
- Franchise Original Sin:
- Ash has had a co-lead before, most famously in the form of Dawn. At several points Dawn would take the lead as the focus character even in the midst of what might be considered an Ash focused storyline, such as during the Maylene episodes where she took a lead in roughly half of the four episodes. Fans have more problems with Goh doing this than Dawn due to it being perceived as more often and more intrusive to Ash's focus.
- It has been in Ash's nature at several points to have the course of the journey dictated by those around him more than his own, notably with May and Dawn's Contests and Serena's Showcases. However this is perhaps the first series where such a occurrence has been widely criticized and disliked by a sizeable and vocal portion of the fanbase, with Goh's goals tending to dominate a large chunk of episode over Ash's being a frequent issue with such fans. Possible reasons for this being Goh's captures often occurring in episodes that would have once been considered filler thus giving the fans a feeling that Goh gets more focus than he actually is intended to, Goh's goal being relevant more frequently than the female companions and thus aggravating fans more, or just the fact that Goh's status as a designated co-lead means that any imbalance in focus is more tangible to the fanbase.
...
This is Jackpot's given reason for removing it.
...
Dawn isn’t classified as a protagonist but as a traveling companion. The difference between her and Goh is that Dawn’s focus episodes were spread out and didn’t overshadow Ash’s journey, usually involved competing in Contests, bettering herself as a Coordinator, or had to do with her Pokémon, whereas with Goh’s focus episodes, they tend to happen every few episodes and would more often than not be about a specific Pokémon that he’d catch at the end of the episode. Also, how did Ash’s companions dictate his journey? Most of the Contests or Showcases were on the way to whatever Gym he’d challenge next. That’s far different from Goh dragging him around to whatever location he found out a specific Pokémon will be at or a specific event taking place. ...
I am very familiar with the Pokemon fanbase. I am aware of how the fanbase is and what the show is like for twenty years, and what it is now. I am aware of Goh is seen, and I am able to look at it historically.
Dawn was treated as a Co-Lead. In the opening of DP anime episodes, it is the 'adventures of Satoshi (Ash) and Hikari (Dawn). May, Iris, Serena, Misty, etc did not get this. The only one who gets that is Goh.
As to the point about direction, at several points in the series the company diverts their path to go to places that are contest or showcase based (For example, in Kalos Ash does this for some of Serena's later performances)
Also, and I suspect this is the most important, this is YMMMV. Your Mileage May Vary. I don't think the edit removal given really works as that argument is more for 'yes or no' tropes versus opinion tropes. Jackpot removed it more on 'I don't agree with it' lines, which strikes me as problematic for YMMV tropes, especially as Goh's issues brought up are a commonly held opinion on many sites like Bulbargarden and Spacebattles and the point of 'being something in the originals' is used in debate there and acknowledged as such.
Please help me return the trope to YMMV Journeys. I added it originally so I cannot without risking an edit war (while I added it back in August 21 so I have no idea if that makes a reversing edit two and a half months is the edit, remove, edit definitions or not.)
Edited by KrspaceTopen Sevens: Jackpot21 deletes all dissenting Opinions: Anti-Climax Boss edition Anime
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/Jackpot21
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/YuGiOhSevens
User Jackpot 21 has this thing where they really dislike any opinion on Sevens they disagree with, even if it is a YMMV trope and thus is about opinions versus facts. Recently they went after my YMMV opinion on one of the final bosses of a Sevens Arc.
Here be what they removed.
...
- Anti-Climax Boss: Yuga's second duel with Asana, and the climax of her arc, is considered the weakest duel of all the arc climax duels in the series. Reasons for this stem for the aborted clash of the Maximum Monsters (which makes sense in the plot but comes as the expense of the duel), a sense of repetition of plays from the previous arc climax duel with Neiru (Yuga making a similar 'Trick Guard-Stray Familiar move', the second and third turns leading to a mutual Maximum clash, the use of Magical Switch to summon Seven Roads Magician to take an attack for a weaker monster, etc), and the duel's format overall being more akin to a regular Yuga duel than a climactic one (Yuga notably wins not using Seven Roads Magician, a combo with Seven Roads Magician, or his Maximum monster, but a new level 7 monster (Steeltek Diety Mirror Innovator) in a manner that is more akin to how a duel with a minor character would go and not a climactic clash with a final opponent whose duels tend to more closely involve Yuga's signature cards. Asana herself remains a popular character, but her final duel is considered weak by many.
...
Now let's break down why this is wrong. To list a few of them off the top of my head.
1: Anti-Climax Boss is a trope that is usable outside of video games. In fact all Yu Gi Oh Series have used this trope in their YMMV (For both cards and opponents). 2: This was an opinion I did see around and more than just myself. 3: Anti-Climax boss entries list out why the boss was seen that way, and I did list out several reasons including repetition and how it was concluded.
Also of course 'Your Mileage May Vary'
Minor tweaks are perfectly fine: perhaps changing words from 'is considered the weakest duel of all the arc climax duels' to 'many consider it the weakest duel in all the arc climax duels'. But if he isn't going to even give a reason for his removal like the Pokemon Journeys entry in this system at the same time...well either there is something wrong with it that I don't know about or it is good to go back in a manner that can avoid an edit war.

The quote page for Neon Genesis Evangelion includes several quotes from influential figures such as Kurt Vonnegut and Jean-Paul Sartre. It seems to me that these quotes are here primarily to comment on the main themes and philosophies of Evangelion, but of course, the quotes do not directly mention Evangelion itself.
Please note that I only have basic knowledge of Evangelion, as I have not watched the anime. If these quotes are directly referenced within the anime, forgive me. But the quote page does not clarify this, so if this is indeed not the case, would this be breaking the rules?
