openTo-Do-List venue/forum for images that need replacements
Basically, you find a page image that doesn't look good for some reason, and would like to point out that it needs replacement, but you don't currently have the time to upload the best replacement, so you bring it up somewhere for others to fix... Is there a place for that scenario, a.k.a. a forum-based to-do-list for images?
... Or I might as well bring up the image in question here, from SIE Santa Monica Studio:

The company logo is fine in the site's Night Vision mode, but you cannot read the text in normal/light mode in the Creator page itself because the font color blends with the gray background color. Shouldn't this have a black background instead for consistency?
Edited by DanteVinopen Edit War on Character page of Turning Red Western Animation
Troper Rom Watt added back the Hero Antagonist example for Turning Red for the character Ming despite the majority of Ming’s actions not really coming off as heroic and more of a detriment to Mei’s (the main character) personal growth. Ming was an obstacle and a Karen who inconvenienced others with her selfish actions (she assaulted a security guard that was just doing his job and even destroyed a dome and risking lives all because Mei wanted to attend a concert). This doesn’t sound like a Hero Antagonist at all. She was far from heroic and she had to realize that she was the villain at the end of the movie. I wanted to delete the example, but I want to avoid an Edit War.
Edited by MsCC22openOn Scorpider77 Videogame
Scorpider77 seems like a good troper in all respects, except one; he seems to have this wonk over Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam 2 and keeps talking about how everyone is clamoring for it and linking to its page.
There's just one problem: the game doesn't exist. While his non Mario edits are fine, anything pertaining to Mario (Bowser Jr.'s Journey, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam and YMMV.Mario And Luigi Paper Jam, and YMMV.Mario Plus Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, among others) keeps having him throw in references to this nonexistent game, culminating in him making a since-cut page for it on the 11th of this month.
He also DMed me a link to a tweet that allegedly shows the proof of this clamoring (along with saying the game exists and Nintendo hasn't found the time to reveal it, stated with no proof whatsoever), except it's an analytics link - which can only be seen by the person who made the tweet. So he's shilling both himself and a nonexistent game to the detriment of factual information.
openWhen to know a page needs cleanup? Web Original
I've been looking over the page for Hamsters Paradise, as I've been following that particular work, and it seems to me that it could use a little help. Mostly in the grammar department, maybe with the spoiler tagging as well (At the moment it's just the stuff related to the original sketches that spoilered, though it's a little inconsistent. I'm also wondering if it's worth spoilering entries related to the Harmster and Baywulf sagas since they're a little heavier on plot details than the rest of the work).
At the same time, I'm not entirely sure if the issues are great enough that it needs a Cleanup topic, or any discussion at all as opposed to just fixing it myself. Is there a good way to know where to draw the line?
openAre Nursery Rhymes tropable works?
Two parter, here:
- Do we have established precedent for a Nursery Rhyme itself to be a tropable work? (Note: The contents of Nursery Rhyme itself are trope examples when an in-universe rhyme is discussed or contained in the context of a larger work)
- If we have such precedent, where should we namespace a page? Currently, the closest I can see on Namespace is Myth/ (due to the comment about oral traditions) but that just seems wrong somehow...
open Edit to Fate/Stay Night character page constitutes vandalism? Videogame
In this edit
for the character page for Saber from Fate/stay night, user SteelDumpling replaced all instances of "Altria" (the character's official English name as of Fate/Grand Order) with "Artoria" (an alternate localization that is preferred by the fans and has been used in some localizations prior to Type-Moon coming down against it), even in instances where this is inaccurate.
I do not want to start an edit war so I have messaged the person requesting they revert the edit. In the event they do not, should I just do it myself?

openA page for Ask Mario Web Original
So, I was thinking that there should be a page for the YouTube series "Ask Mario". However, I think that would be hard to make all by myself even if I started the page myself, which I could. So, if I do make this page, I would appreciate any help anyone else can offer, be it trope examples or subpages, which this page will definitely need. Please let me know your thoughts and thank you in advance.
Edited by LaughsWithGophersopenTroper with worrisome obsession with check list
Just post here for the record since it look like one-time problem.
temus added this massive check list
to Fantasy Kitchen Sink. I commented it out (along with other two similar entries), citing Wordcruft and Zero-Context Example (also sent them a ZCE notifier) because the check list doesn't really say anything about the work itself. Still, making that huge check list strike me as unusual.
resolved Character pages - navbox 'index' links and crossreferencing? Print Comic
Are there any guidelines for start of page navbox 'indexing' (the cross-referencing wikilink kind, rather than [[index]] tagging) on Character pages, for the cases where a work or franchise has a huge number of characters across a large number of sub-pages?
Looking at Characters.X Men Arakko (and the other X-Men Characters pages), I count 19 lines of links in the navbox before the page itself starts, mapping out approximately 50 different X-Men character pages. Presumably that also needs to be updated on all 50(ish) of the character pages any time it changes.
That's not an exhaustive list either, as it doesn't directly link to some of the single-character pages or the works-specific pages for particular comic books.
Most of these characters range across the wider franchise, appearing in multiple Marvel Universe comics and webcomics, so are not specific to any one comic series and their Characters page names don't mirror a particular works page.
(It's also using WMG tagging, which I’m not used to seeing outside of WMG pages, but I’m assuming that's not a problem?)
Looking at other sprawling franchises -
- Characters.Star Wars takes a different approach, with a single link back to the top-level page - e.g. as seen on Characters.Star Wars High Republic Era Jedi.
- Characters.Star Trek uses a much shorter list of links on subpages, mapping back to the relevant series (e.g. on Characters.Star Trek Deep Space Nine Federation And Bajor)- but its characters tend to be series-specific so it doesn't have quite the same structural challenge.
Is this approach fine 'as is', should it be condensed/removed in a similar way to Star Trek & Star Wars, or can it be streamlined in a different way (e.g. hide it in a folder to save space)?
Thanks!
EDIT: Edited to fix terminology and make navbox references clearer.
Edited by Mrph1openSalvaged Story entries Film
On the YMMV page for the Black Panther film, several entries under Author's Saving Throw were moved to Salvaged Story:
- Following in the footsteps of the Vulture, the Grandmaster, and Hela, Killmonger was chosen as a deliberate attempt to create a sympathetic and memorable MCU bad guy after a string of widely-criticized and forgettable Generic Doomsday Villains. Given the amount of "Killmonger Was Right" memes currently circulating around the web, it's probably safe to say they succeeded and then some. Much the same goes for Klaue who became a fan-favorite as a Laughably Evil companion of Killmonger.
- The filmmakers have gone out of their way to avoid the continuity problems that have plagued the MCU. While the Marvel movies are widely praised, they have been criticized for Continuity Lock-Out and focusing more on setting up sequels. Black Panther functions as a self-contained story with almost no references to the previous film or characters outside of the news broadcast and Ross briefly recapping T'Challa's arc in Captain America: Civil War and the post-credits scene involving Bucky Barnes in Wakanda, thereby making it more accessible for casual fans.
- In the comics, M'Baku the Man-Ape is a savage, brutish Scary Black Man who dresses up as a gorilla, which brings to mind uncomfortable racist caricatures comparing black people to monkeys and apes. This movie doesn't use the "Man-Ape" moniker and downplays the gorilla imagery, while hitting him with a dose of Adaptational Heroism to turn him into an Anti-Villain who undergoes a Heel–Face Turn.
The problem is that none of these seem to fit the trope's current definition (which is about a problematic story element being explained) but rather focus on the film avoiding problems that previous entries had.
Edited by Javertshark13openUser not replying to crosswicking notifer or crosswicking
Apologies if it turns out it's not worth the ATT report, but I'm not sure what else I could've done.
So, wayside99 created the The Serpent Queen page a while back. However, they haven't really crosswicked the page that much, only putting it on 3 pages. While admittedly, not crosswicking work pages is not as big as a deal as say Trope pages, it's still needed in order to keep the page from stagnating. I sent them a crosswicking notifier a few days ago when I discovered the page and its lack of wicks.
As someone who likes crosswicking to the point of making it a hobby, I understand how tedious crosswicking can be, so I decided to give them some time. However, they haven't responded to my notifer nor have crosswicked the page as of today (in fact they were editing today and yesterday, so they should be aware of the notification on their profile by now). While I don't mind crosswicking the page myself, it's still ultimately the responsibility of the page creator to crosswick it.
So, what should be done if there is an action to take?

open Is this website tropeable?
I recently found The Grand List of Overused Science Fiction Clichés while wick cleaning Good People Have Good Sex... and I'm not sure this is actually tropeworthy.
The website itself has no tropes at all, and the subpages are just lists of common sci-fi cliches.
I wasn't sure the best spot to put this, so I took it here to ATT.
openSuggesting video examples?

openSelf-demonstrating Spanish work page
Te Lo Resumo Así Nomás has its description written in Spanish, with the English translation in a note. That translation is written in a self-demonstrating style and has generally poor grammar; where would be the right place to bring this up?
openPage Images with White Backgrounds
There's something off that's somewhat bothering me, especially for a user who uses Night Vision mode like myself. And that's the white background page images, such as the one found in Our Dragons Are Different video game page. White Void Room is an exception since it demonstrates an empty room in a white void. Is there a policy for transparent or full background images on This Very Wiki?
Edited by HarmonyBunny2000openBen267 and their questionably perverted edits
So I've been looking at the edits of Ben267
, and they seem to be adding a lot of tropes regarding beauty (like Hartman Hips and Beauty Is Bad). They have a lot of edits that are questionable , but two seperate things jumped out at me: their edits to Trixie's profile on Fairly Odd Parents
, and this edit
on Grojband:
Now, they changed the edit to something a bit more tame, but I'm still concerned. Some of their edits have already been reverted by others for misuse (including myself), but I'm getting an uneasy feeling from them.
openI think I edit warred.
So I removed
this Fan-Preferred Couple entry from YMMV.League Of Legends:
- Despite initally being a Crack Pairing, most people ship Aphelios with Sett. Many got attached to the Huge Guy Tiny Guy Opposites Attract relationship they'd have in fanwork. It should say that alot that they are the 10th favorite League of Legends ship on Archive Of Our Own. When Spirit Blossom had Sett finally call Aphelios 'mooncake' for real, it made the fans go wild!
I removed it because as written it is a missuse as it doesn't mention a canon relationship for either character, which is needed. However I forgot that this was one of the entry on the former FPC page for the game, League of Legends which is now just a redirect, which was part of the massive cuts when the FPC thread decided that only really two were actually examples
. Now I was the who made that page a redirect beyond those two actual examples which were moved to FanPreferredCouple.Video Games. Here was the original entry:
- Sett is far and away THE most fanservice-y male character in the franchise yet. A lot of people in the Asian community (Korea and Japan, to be exact) ship him with either Soraka or Ahri. The former seems to be because Soraka is considered protective and maternal (and Sett loves his mama); the latter for being Ms. Fanservice and essentially Sett's Distaff Counterpart.
- Some of the Asian community also seem to be fond of shipping Sett with Xayah due to their shared vastayan lineage. Yes, Xayah is canonically with Rakan, but they often portray her as willing to cheat if it'll let her have Sett.
- And it's not just women. Aphelios is the most common male champion he's been paired with due to their release dates being back-to-back, as well as having an Opposites Attract dynamic with both contrasting kit complexities/role styles and personalities.
So I am reasonably sure I edit warred without realizing it and am reporting myself for judgement.

Title is pretty self-explanatory. I created two new trope pages for these Owl House fanfics, and I'm not sure how to change the titles because there's punctuation in both of them.
