Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

Is it acceptable to list Bechdel Test as a trope on pages to mention whether they pass or fail it? I ask because Gunarm Dyne added it to Film.Morozko.

Is it just me, or would nearly all examples on Funny.Fifty Shades Of Grey be better on Narm.Fifty Shades Of Grey? The following bit of Natter on the page (which I removed) seems to have a point:
- Let's just say the whole book.
- Let's just say the entire series.
- Most of them are mostly Narm rather than intentional (especially the inner goddess parts).

So...
Narm.Chick Tracts and WMG.Chick Tracts are redirects to Narm.Jack Chick and WMG.Jack Chick, respectively.
This is backwards from all other pages for this work, which use the Chick Tracts name instead of Jack Chick. Notably, Creator.Jack Chick is also a redirect to ComicBook.Chick Tracts.
Should these redirects be reversed to fit with the rest of the pages for this work?

Question about Nightmare Retardant: Does it have to be something goofy, or can it be something a bit more meta?
Specifically, in a certain game, there are jump scares every few steps. However, the game emphasizes drawing your map on the second screen, which results in the jump scares A: being predictable and B: being less visible, since many players are navigating by looking at the other screen.
Would that count? It's definitely unconventional, not being a Special Effect Failure or Narm, but it definitely decreased the tension in the situation.

I understand that YMMV tropes aren't allowed to be listed as tropes on main pages, unless invoked, does that mean that they can't be linked to on main pages at all? I read the
Let's say I write an examples like these:
- Laughing Mad: Mr. Internet Critic has this reaction after seeing a narmtastic scene in Film X.
- Angrish: Jake the Game Reviewer went through one of these while playing to Game X's Disappointing Last Level.
Would those be allowed, even if "Film X" and "Game X" actually existed?
I read the "What Goes Where on the Wiki", which says that they shouldn't be potholed on the main pages, but I'm not clear if that applies only when it's potholed as a trope title or when its potholed anywhere in the examples section. Mainly asking because I see plenty of links to YMMV pages on main pages shoehorned into examples, especially ones dealing with Caustic Critics.

There's a dispute between me and Eagal on the YMMV page for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Basically, he cut out the Narm entries because he claims Narm is a Darth Wiki trope, while I restored them because only the examples are on the Darth Wiki while the trope itself isn't. Despite this he claims Narm still isn't to be put on YMMV pages, which I find nothing saying so on the Narm page itself. I want to hear the answer.

I may have missed this, but is Narm now considered Flame Bait? Should all the subpages & wicks of it be deleted? Does the same apply to Narm Charm?

What's the deal with Flame Bait going on YMMV pages?
Some Flame Bait pages (like Narm and Character Derailment) have YMMV banners, while others (like Hatedom and Unpleasable Fanbase) get Flame Bait banners, and others are Darth Wiki.
I ask because I see Narm in particular on many YMMV pages, and I personally just put Character Derailment on a page because I saw the YMMV and not the Flame Bait one.

Tropers/Kkatman has been deleting and heavily modifying entries in Fallout: Equestria, leaving snippy comments as their edit reason. Many of the edited entries, like my recent Narm entry that they have now deleted twice, are legitimate so far as I can tell.
Is this a case of an overprotective creator, and if so can something be done?

shybritishguy deleted the list of example subpages on Narm, replacing them with a note saying "No examples please. This trope is too subjective." No edit reason.
Was there a resolution to cut these examples somewhere, or is this (which I suspect) a unilateral change that should be reverted?

Coming here as I'm confused as to where to take it. I think it would bounce all over the place; Trope Talk, Lost And Found, and the "Is This an Example" thread.
I'm working on the page for the Doom novels.
Hey, stop laughing! They're a Guilty Pleasure that introduced me to Robert A Heinlein and HP Lovecraft.
Anyway, the main problem I have is that these books are badly written. Not in the "I think this character sucks" manner but in that they are very inconsistent on facts. I have no idea how to document such mistakes. I'm not sure what we'd consider them, like Retcons or what. And the quality gets worse as the series progresses.
I want to document this, of course I'm trying to get this in a proper objective format.
Some highlights:
- A dead character changes hair color over ten pages. She's blonde when mentioned and then suddenly a redhead.
- A monster talks to The Hero early on in the first book. This is a minor plot over the series and becomes a major plot point in the fourth. The trick is a second monster spoke in the first book, cracked a bad joke, and this is never mentioned again. Every time the subject of talking monsters come up it's only the first that anybody remembers, that was the only time it ever happened as the characters are concerned.
- The teenage girl in the group changes last names between the second and third books.
- The characters use Reporting Names for the monsters. Fly calls a monster "spiny", Arlene named them "imps". After the third book, both POV characters insist that Arlene calls them "spiny". Repeatedly.
- At the end of the third book, the heroes are unarmed and naked after teleporting disintegrated their weapons and clothes. At the start of the fourth they have their uniforms and weapons back. They didn't find new ones, they didn't make new ones. I get why, it's a Retcon because the authors backed themselves into a corner. But they even call attention to it when Arlene laments losing her wedding ring because it disintegrated when they're Retconning the disintegration.
- At the same time as the gear retcon, they now have different weapons than before. And these guns are now their weapons of choice when it was the destroyed set.
- The teenage girl changes hair color between the second and fourth books. She's a redhead in the second book and blonde in the last.
I love this series but it's a mess. The text supports all of this, I'm not bitching about perceived flaws, just trying to record what they've done wrong.

If there's Word Cruft on a Useful Notes page, is it a problem? Oh and is it a problem if it's on Darth Wiki pages? (like Narm, Wall Banger, Dethroning Moment, etc.)

On the discussion page for Narm the first thread (how do I link directly to a discussion page thread btw?) is a TRS rename thread in disguise with people complaining about the name. Can this be moved to the TRS or otherwise removed from the discussion page please? Renames get done in TRS not discussion pages after all.

Pages with the Narm/ namespace still have a Flame Bait header. Didn't we agree that Narm isn't necessarily flame bait or Darth Wiki a while back?

The pages in question are WH40K and Narm.Real Life for the reasons I gave in those threads.

Why is Harsher in Hindsight on Darth Wiki all of a sudden? It's not like it was used as complaining like Narm was.

The YMMV pages for individual Game of Thrones episodes have been rife with Complaining About Shows You Dont Like in the form of rampant misuse of tropes like Broken Base and Narm. Should I bring this up in the forums? It seems to be a big problem.
