Ask the Tropers:
resolved Should this deleted YMMV entry be restored? Western Animation
On Arcane's YMMV page, Damian Wayne deleted this "One True Pairing" entry
for the second time in a row even after a previous ATT thread
on this very same topic resolved itself with an overall consensus that it did indeed qualify as an example. This was the initial reason the troper gave for deleting it:
- "OTP indicates a ship that is universally beloved to the point there are no significant alternatives to it. A quick look on any fan site will show that this isn't the case for Ekko/Jinx.Not only does Lightcannon fan works keep getting updated, but most of the work featuring Jinx hardly feature her in a romantic relationship at all."
As what was already noted in the aforementioned ATT thread, the One True Pairing page does not describe a pairing that is "universally beloved" to the point where no alternatives exist. It simply describes a phenomena whenever there is a pairing within a work that is preferred by a group of fans above others, in-which the "Ekko/Jinx" ship qualifies for within the context of Arcane due to the wave of positive reception and fan art seen across social media (general critic and audience reactions, YouTube, Twitter, Tiktok, Reddit, etc.) after the debut of Season 2's final batch of episodes. There is no rule that states the existence of another ship disqualifies an OTP nor is there anything that bars qualification if the pairing also has detractors, which is part of the reason why Ship-to-Ship Combat exists.
I did attempt to message the troper to try and open up a dialogue over the deletion but they never made a reply. After waiting a couple of days, I restored the entry. But as I already mentioned, it was deleted again by the same troper. This was the new reason they gave alongside adding a No Yay entry in place of it:
- "I hope this new entry will finally put an end to this argument"
Out of a desire to avoid an editing war over a ship of all things, I wanted to get some outside opinions on the matter. Should the original OTP entry be restored? Or is there something I'm missing that warrants the example's deletion?

resolved Tropes hidden for no citation? Western Animation
Looking at the Devil May Cry (2025) page, the user Silverblade 2 hid a number of tropes with each one being hidden for "no citation" with this edit - https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Characters.DevilMayCry2025&page=2#edit43741041
Most examples seem to be things that are already confirmed or make no sense to hide, such as "Sword and Gun: Dual wields a pair of pistols alongside his signature sword Rebellion." for Dante, "Hair-Raising Hare: He's a demon who resembles an evil, anthropomorphic rabbit." for the White Rabbit, or "Shout-Out: Her outfit is a reference to Oni, being a more futuristic suit of armour as opposed to her usual white combat gear." for Lady, which was confirmed by the showrunners.
Should this be reverted? The show is yet to release so I know a lot of information isn't confirmed yet so speculation shouldn't be added, but this seems unnecessary.

resolved EditWar Western Animation
Kingslayer 38 committed another Edit War:
- On the Base-Breaking Character page of Miraculous Ladybug, they added
a Chained Sinkhole.
- I deleted
it.
- They added it back
with no edit reason or sign of discussion.
A reminder that this isn't the first time they have done something like that

openDumb reason for deleting a trope on Arcane Western Animation
This example was removed from the Arcane Piltover page a bit back with the reasoning "the voice makes it obvious" (I'm paraphrasing because the page has since been split and deleted)
- Informed Attribute: Lest is a trans woman, though you would only know that by looking at her voice actress' twitter.
That is a very very Dumb reason because Lest's voice is only slightly husky, and frankly even if it wasn't saying that a character is "obviously" trans because she's a woman with a deep voice is quite frankly borderline transphobic and the kind of thing you see in "transvestigator" circles. And if consensus is that deep-voiced women are "obviously" trnas I have a few dozen characters to add to Ambiguous Gender Identity.
I would like to re-add the example as But Not Too Gay.
Edited by BiggbyopenPoorly-done VeggieTales recap pages Western Animation
Quite a few pages were recently created for various VeggieTales videos in the 2010s and there's a few things they all have in common:
A) User DATEMAY created each of them.
B) All of these articles were created on the same day (January 29th, 2025).
C) The only user who has edited these articles is DATEMAY themselves.
D) Most pages have no plot summary and very few listed tropes on the relevant pages in question, though Celery Night Fever is an exception for the latter.
All of the currently affected articles right now are as follows:
- Veggie Tales Episode 35 Pistachio The Little Boy That Woodnt (No plot summary and two tropes)
- Veggie Tales Episode 36 Sweetpea Beauty A Girl After Gods Own Heart (No plot summary and four tropes)
- Veggie Tales Episode 38 Twas The Night Before Easter (No plot summary and no tropes)
- Veggie Tales Episode 40 The Little Drummer Boy (Super barebones plot summary and one trope)
- Veggie Tales Episode 43 The League Of Incredible Vegetables (Initially created with no plot summary and no tropes, though one trope was added later on)
- Veggie Tales Episode 44 The Little House That Stood (No plot summary and two tropes - even if one is zero-context)
- Veggie Tales Episode 45 Mac Larry And The Stinky Cheese Battle (No plot summary and one trope)
- Veggie Tales Episode 46 Merry Larry And The True Light Of Christmas (No plot summary and one trope)
- Veggie Tales Episode 47 Veggies In Space The Fennel Frontier (No plot summary and no tropes)
- Veggie Tales Episode 48 Celery Night Fever (No plot summary yet this one has quite a few tropes listed)
- Veggie Tales Episode 49 Beauty And The Beet (No plot summary and one trope)
Personally speaking, I think they should be deleted since most of these don't have any effort put into them in the slightest. What do you think? Should these articles be deleted for the time being or not?
Edited by nintendofanboy77openMars Needs Moms TheScrappy examples Western Animation
A troper named Francescamaria 17 up and edited back The Scrappy examples into the page
for Mars Needs Moms after it was deleted (the Troper who deleted it had a valid reason for doing so). Given that her edit history involves editing in examples of The Scrappy that aren't accurate, I don't want to risk an Edit War, so I wanted to consult the Tropers on how to deal with Francesca.
resolved Is spoilering out an entire example fine with the spoiler policy? Western Animation
So I noticed on both WesternAnimation.K Pop Demon Hunters and YMMV.K Pop Demon Hunters that the same troper, ReginaldOgron5, edited two separate entries for the same reason: they're both completely
spoilered out
(though for the YMMV example I can at least understand a little more, with the Fan Wank explanation).
My concern is... there's multiple other completely spoilered out examples on both of those pages? And the thing is, not only are both of those examples not Self Fulfilling Spoilers, but they're also... actual spoilers that should be spoilered?
So I'm just wondering... is this correct? Is a completely spoilered out example fine?

A troper named katnissfire has removed almost all of fluffything's entries in the DethroningMoment.Western Animation for different works, citing that he added multiple moments in one page, never mind the fact that katnissfire has completely misred the rules where it says one moment per work, not one moment per page

Edited by Loekman3openInquiry about Misaimed Fandom edit Western Animation
Since I couldn't find a Misaimed Fandom clean-up page;
I came across this Misaimed Fandom edit on the YMMV page for South Park: Joining the Panderverse;
- Both the left and right have claimed ownership of the special, with the left claims the right failed to realize the episode took shots at "the right YouTubers" for one scene while failing to realize that the show has taken multiple shots at "wokeness" with the character of PC Prinicpal representing them, and also taking shots at Disney with Mickey Mouse being used as a villain in a few episodes. The right knowing they're being picked on and not caring about that one scene and enjoying the jabs at Kathleen Kennedy being used as the poster child for pandering in the special. All the while, both sides miss the fact that both sides are presented as part of the problem.
While not without its good points, the edit, at least from I what believe, at best simplified the varying reactions to the episode and, at worst, despite the troper's intentions, may have came off as a bit one-sided (e.g. it failing to acknowledge how (far)-right-leaning fans misinterpreted the special in a similar way that left or (far-left) leaning fans did). I considered rewriting it, but I couldn't quite figure out how to make it work, so I instead deleted the edit, giving my reasoning as;
However, I'm not quite sure if that was the right choice. As such, I have decided to get a third party's opinion on the matter on whether or not the edit should be restored, if it should be rewritten, or if it should stay deleted.
Edited by WiryAiluropodineresolved Permission to revert an entry on Characters/DannyPhantomOthers Western Animation
On December 24th, 2021
, I added the entry Jerk with a Heart of Gold to the character of Mr. Lancer:
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: For all he acts like a Sadist Teacher, he does care about his students and wants to see them succeed in school, and can be somewhat fair at times. And while he has been a Dirty Coward before, he's demonstrated a willingness to jump in and protect his students if need be.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Throughout the series he has been nothing but a narcissistic Sadist Teacher, who constantly displays a Condescending Compassion tone of voice. The only times when he “cares” about his students is when he can benefit the current situation at hand. In addition, whenever he has been “fair” to his students, it usually involves either him playing favorites with the popular students or if he can solely benefit from the situation. And while he has been a Dirty Coward before, he's demonstrated a willingness to jump in and protect his students if need be, if only to realize his way out of depth.
Recently however, on rewatching some episodes where he was prominent, I thought back to this and decided to take the matter here, particularly after putting Lordknightwolf's handle into the search function now available on the Edit History revealed they appear to have an agenda regarding Mr. Lancer, deleting entries that would suggest he is in any way not a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk, such as a Characterization Marches On entry with a heated edit reason, as well as adding him to the Jerks Are Worse Than Villains entry claiming he had no sympathetic traits, which was accordingly changed
by generation81.
So, I take the matter here to ATT: Should Mr. Lancer be reverted to a Jerk with a Heart of Gold entry? Or should he remain as a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk entry?

openInconsistent Recap numbering Western Animation
Invincible (2021) has a weird quirk where the season 2 episodes are all numbered wrong in their URL. That's because between seasons there was a special, and our recap page for it numbered it S2, E1.
This means the Season 2 episode labeled 1 on the recap page has the URL of S02E02. It's odd and irregular, both on this wiki and for anything else related to the series. Hell, it's irregular between the Recap page and the individual recaps themselves.
Edited by Larkmarnresolved Persistent Hellaverse miscategorization issue Western Animation
AudioSpeaks2 has been consistently categorizing works within the Hellaverse as being Horror or at the very least Horror Comedy. I'm not really sure what is compelling him to list them as such, because the universe is pretty firmly a Black Comedy setting that occasionally has scary moments, like a large number of other non-horror shows. I am under the apprehension that belonging to the Horror genre or one of its subgenres requires a work to be predominantly focused on being scary, which a cursory viewing of any Hellaverse media demonstrates it to clearly not be. If I could either get confirmation that this is incorrect or help understanding the rationale behind this categorization that would be appreciated.

Someone made a recap page for an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2023) that was blocked from release but leaked online. Just wanna double check and make sure that's a violation of the "no troping leaks" rule (which...honestly feels obvious, but I wanted to make sure) before I banish it to the cutlist.
