resolved Updating the main Music page Music
Whereas most work namespaces have some sort of summary/hub as their main page, Music/ only has the Music disambiguation page.
This has been called out a few times, by various people. The new root page functionality means that this also impacts root links from every Music/ page.
A new Short-Term Projects thread
has been created to decide how we approach this - what should a main Music page look like?
resolved ReferencedBy/UlteriorMotives Music
There exists a page ReferencedBy.Ulterior Motives, where most of the examples are unrelated appearances of a boombox like what's on the image. That leaves just one, and it's on a somewhat tangential level. Should this be cut?
resolved Arranging Music Entries Music
I apologize, I looked through Administrivia and couldn't find an answer to this: should the music folders on trope pages be arranged alphabetically by the name of the musician/band or by the title of the album/song?
openAdd examples from Artist page to trope page Music
I was shocked when I realised that The Divine Comedy (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Music/TheDivineComedy)
weren't mentioned at all on any of the (multiple) Lyrical Dissonance pages (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/LyricalDissonance/Music)
. Yes, I read them all.
So I decided my very first attempt to edit, after years of just reading, would be to share some great examples (especially Something for the Weekend...). I was therefore pleasantly suprised to find that the trope and its examples are referenced on the page for the band.
What is the accepted way of adding these examples from the artist page to the trope page? Can I just copy and paste verbatim? Do I need to reference the original tropers?
Thanks!
resolved Creating a Music page Music
So I'm planning to create some Music/ pages (specifically some anime singers) but there are a couple of things I'm unsure of even after reading How to Create a Work Page.
1. I tend to be a bit confused with Music and Creator pages (especially regarding solo artists). I know for a fact that Creator pages don't really need to have tropes to be released. When it comes to pages with the Music namespace, does it need to have tropes so it can be launched?
2. Can they have their own trivia pages?
3. Can I make an IP thread regarding image suggestions even before I launch the page?
Edited by RuckusHeartsopenPage got taken down Music
Hello
I got a message about a page being copyrighted from Fandom. I rewrote the page, deleted paragraphs and It still got taken down. I deleted a lot of paragraphs and rewritten them and it got taken down. I want to rewrite the whole thing. Is it safe to rewrite and recrate the page in different original paragraphs and have this problem fixed?
Edited by CobraMaltaseresolved music video with a broken bust Music
I can't remember the name of a song. 80s to early 90s. Dance track. The music video opens with a plaster bust exploding on the floor.
resolved Improper capitalization in subpage URL. What do I do? Music
Help! I just created WMG.The Cog Is Dead, but I didn't capitalize it properly when I typed it in the URL (This is how I normally do it when I'm trying to get to a pre-existing page), and now it's stuck with the improper capitalizations. Somehow, I've never had this happen in the years I've been on this site. How do I fix this?
EDIT: Thanks!
Edited by DrNoPumaresolved Add media pages? Music
Is there a version of the Trope Launchpad for media or do I just add it. How would I do that? On a related note, how do I add/edit (add secondary tropes etc) video examples? Found
Edited by Character-Zeroresolved Am I overstepping my boundaries here? Music
Just now, I wanted to alphabetize the examples on the Musical examples for Anvilicious page. While I'm done with that, I've also done a lot more:
- I've fixed some inconsistent formatting (like removing the italicization of an artist's name).
- I had to remove some transitions between examples that were broken up when they were put in alphabetical order.
- Removed some redundant (and poorly written) examples referring to artists/bands already listed on the page.
- Also, commented out some ZCEs.
My question is: is this already enough to qualify as a unilateral edit, or something worthy of a notifier?
Also, I realize that the page is very messy and in need of cleanup, however, I'm unsure of whether a cleanup thread already exists for Anvilicious. In that case, how do I create a cleanup thread?
Edited by SimonTropeopenChanging work's title (group's name) Music
So, there is a K-pop group previously named (G)I-DLE. Recently it had a rebrand, and now it's simply called i-dle (which is referenced in the page). At first it was shown simply through changing their social media accounts names, but now, as I recently checked, even Wikipedia
refers to them as i-dle. I think the name has to be changed, but I'm not sure how to do it right.
openTwo pictures for former/current lineups of bands? Music
Super Junior and EXO both have two pictures for their original/most well known lineups (that are years out of date) and their current lineups respectively. (They're not the only ones; I also discovered Journey do this too.) I'm sure this is for visual aid, as many examples will mention the former members, but most other groups with line-up changes I've seen (e.g. Girls' Generation, DAY6, Wonder Girls) will have their images replaced instead of keeping two images at once. What are the guidelines on this (if any)? Is it okay to have two images, or should only the current lineups stay?
resolved Mistroped example, but don't know what trope to assign it to Music
From the page for Siouxsie and the Banshees:
- Art Shift: An unusual audio version on "Peek-a-Boo". Each line was sung into a different mic to give a variety of different textures to Siouxsie's voice.
This is obviously misuse (Art Shift is a visual trope about art style changes, not about musical changes), but do we have a different trope that better fits this example? If not, I'd remove the example.
resolved Looking to create a Creator page Music
Hey, I'm looking to make a creator page for Zach Hill, a musician, and I was wondering where I should get started if I wanted to do that.
open No Title Music
Is there an inverse trope to Broken Base? That is, a work by a formerly-divisive artist that pretty much eliminates the divisiveness? (For example, Kid Rock has been very divisive until Born Free, which has been his best received album.)
openNo Title Music
I understand that creating new pages on a work is generally okay, but is it alright to made a page about a band's particular album? Say for example, a concept album which has many tropes in its lyrics, or a particularly notable album by a band which they are well known for, or just because you like the album and want to give it exposure AND add tropes present in the album, at the same time?
openNo Title Music
Alucard (IDK how to access a user history on edits) is popping out the correct link Guns N Roses for Guns N Roses to a ptitle link every time possible, it seems.
Here's a few cases on pages I watch: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Main.XJapan
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Main.BarBrawl
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Main.HidetoMatsumoto
IDK where else he's done it, though I'll be fixing those later if it's OK. <3
openNo Title Music
On the page for The Adventures Of Duane And Brand O, a troper named Silent Soundscape is causing a few problems. He's repeatedly adding an example of Berserk Button that is worded to slyly insult one of the works' creators. Both I and Crazed Ninja have removed the example at least once, and he keeps re-adding it.
This wouldn't be too bad, except he also happens to have blanked the entire page at one time (replacing it with "stupid niggershit"), so I don't think this is him honestly trying to be constructive.
I don't want to keep reverting his edit, and I fear that if I do, it will end with us both edit-banned for edit-warring.

I'm thinking of adding a still from the help me i am in hell video. The video shows a guy eating steak in a room full of flies and i have found a close up of the guy cutting into the steak. Will that be a fitting photo
