openFlamebait Review on The Seven Deadly Sins Anime
Sorry ahead for bringing this here if this is the wrong place to do so. Not sure if this is the proper place or if it should be addressed in one of the forums. Also sorry ahead for bringing this subject up again if it annoys some but it's kinda been really bothering me.
In any case, I'm gonna ask on what course of action should be done with this inflammatory review
. It's kinda a real bother, at least for me personally being a fan of this series and all, and I'm not sure if any action is gonna be done especially since the reasons I flagged it for originally don't refer to it's current version. Its contents were per what I explained in another ask
changed after I flagged it. Should it be deleted or should it be left alone?
I sorta understand that negative criticisms are allowed alongside good ones but this review is really immature unfair Flamebait that misrepresents and bashes both the series and the creator. The review author's main biff as evident in the review is clearly with the main character Meliodas. While I will not deny that Meliodas is a Base-Breaking Character with his ecchi antics, calling him a Mary Sue Author Avatar is going too far just because he's a typical shonen hero who's ridiculously strong, and certain plots common to shonen and ecchi series happen.
I guess what's getting to me about this review apart from its vitriol like with its very last line, is the amount of misrepresentation and ignoring of certain facts which include the pedophilia accusations. Either there was no rechecking of certain things or they were deliberately ignored out of bias. I mean:
- Meliodas and Elizabeth's relationship is not some Wish Fulfillment or at least in the way the review puts it, it's a Reincarnation Romance that's been heavily foreshadowed with multiple hints since the early chapters and later finally outright confirmed. It's a complicated relationship with Meliodas having a Single-Target Sexuality towards Elizabeth, and Elizabeth having somewhat of a case of Wistful Amnesia Past-Life Memories thing going on. This context justifies or at least makes clear many situations before and after the reveal. Even the infamous scene with Meliodas and baby Elizabeth linked to and condemned by the review is somewhat okay in a sense due to this context as well as the context of what lead to that moment. It's at the very least complicated enough that straightforwardly calling it outright pedophilia without consideration of the facts is enough to cause ire.
- Ban's relationship with Elaine is not out-and-out pedophilia. Just because Elaine looks like a human child doesn't mean she is one when she's a 1000 year old fairy. She's definitely a "loli looking but not actually under-aged" character type that can only come out of Japan and it's definitely a culture shock situation, but claiming the relationship is an outright actual pedophile one because of this is really misrepresentation.
openhelp with replacement image request Anime
I'd like to request a replacement for the current picture for Furan's character folder. The current one is small and grainy compared to the others. I found a higher quality version of it
at My Anime List, but I have no experience with setting images. Plus, I'm using a Wii U which doesn't allow me to store/save images.
Basically, I'm asking if someone who does know how to do it, will replace the current pic with the new one. It'd be much appreciated.

Hello. With regards to the pages on Maken-ki!, I discovered that there are links to the manga on ReadPanda and MangaTown, both of which are possible scanlation sites. I'm removing them from the articles as I speak, but can the links be cleaned up from other articles as well as this one? Thanks.
Edited by gjjonesopenUnwitting Instigator Of Doom Anime
Hello,
There is a debate on the https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/DragonBallSuper
.
The debate is over if Future Dabura's actions falls under Unwitting Instigator of Doom. To summarized, in the Super manga, Dabura killed all the Gods of Creation, which then killed the God of Destruction since they're linked. This caused another villain to arrive since they were looking for a timeline without the God of Destruction. So, Future Dabura's actions caused the current events.
However, Future Dabura was trying to revive Majin Buu, a villain that is just as bad if not a worse than the current villain. So his actions really can't be Unwitting Instigator of Doom since even if they didn't kill the gods, they would have done something equally as bad. The troper said that they originally thought they could control Buu, which isn't really the point since my understanding of Unwitting Instigator of Doom is that someone's current actions cause something really bad to happen, yet in this case someone really bad was going to happen if the villain had their way.
For example, if a villain's plan was to take over the world, but their actions caused the world to be destroyed or fall into ruins, then that is an Unwitting Instigator of Doom. If the villain's plans is to destroy the world and then their actions caused another villain to come and destroy the world, it isn't really an Unwitting Instigator of Doom since their actions led to the same outcome.
What do you guys think?
Edited by Ramona122003openIs it appropriate to rename this character subpage? Anime
The character subpage Characters.Detective Conan One Scene Wonders is a character sheet where the only tie between the characters listed is that they are all examples of One-Scene Wonder in a Long Runner series. But on second thought, the title may cause confusion about whether it's actually a work-based subpage for the trope of One-Scene Wonder, despite the page is properly structured as a character sheet.
Is my worry justified? And if it is, is it appropriate to rename this page?
Edited by SamCurtopenScrappy on one page, HateSink on another Anime
On AnimeAndManga.Hate Sink, the character Tomoo from Manga.Elfen Lied is listed. However, the same character is listed as The Scrappy on YMMV.Elfen Lied. Going by the character's portrayal, it's clear we're not supposed to sympathize with him in the slightest. For context, the character bullied the main character relentlessly and killed her puppy both to mess with her and for his own amusement.
What is the proper course of action with this character?
open Bad acting performances by cartoon characters either faked by animator or how? Anime
I'm looking of bad performances by animated characters. Not because of poor animation technique, but I would assume by chance as I can't think of any animation out there that has auditions in it with sucky performances. Except I don't want auditions. I want cast bad actor examples.

openTimey Wimey Ball Anime
Hello,
Another troper and I are having a disagreement about rather this fits under Timey-Wimey Ball:
- Timey-Wimey Ball: It's never quite explained how a version of Present Zamasu manages to kill Gowasu and take the Time Ring, given that all outcomes should have led to Beerus killing him and Dragon Ball doesn't use 'What Ifs' to create new timelines. The timeline only splits when the past is alter. The closest explanation is that since Zamasu traveled to the future, the events that created Black technically already happened before Beerus executed Present Zamasu, especially since Goku and Vegeta had to time travel to Future Trunks' timeline and see Future Zamasu doing evil acts, along with Present Zamasu attacking Zuno, to give Beerus probable cause to investigate Zamasu further.
The troper in questioned erased the entry because as they put it: Zamasu killing Gowasu and becoming Black, and Black surviving Beerus' destruction of present Zamasu, are part of the same time loop. It's somewhat confusing, but it's not a timey-wimey ball.
That isn't what the entry says. The Timey-Wimey Ball is that Present Zamasu in one timeline never encountered Beerus and Goku again after their first meeting, despite the way the time loop works the second encounter should have happened which leads to Present Zamasu's death. So something happened to disturbed the loop where Present Zamasu fails, creating the new timeline and Black survives because of the Time Ring, so he's literally a walking paradox since the timeline he originally came from doesn't even exists anymore.
Yeah, it's confusion, but to break it down, the question of how Zamasu succeeded in one timeline is left vague.
Edited by Ramona122003openbit of a tangle.... Anime and TV series, same name, unrelated works Anime
I know this probably has been discussed before. But there's a bit of confusion here between two wholly unrelated works both called Salamander. Is there any way of disentangling them? The respective works pages fo rthe TV political thriller Salamander and the anime/computer game Salamander are pretty much seperate and distinct, but the YMMV and other associated pages for Salamander (1) lead to entries for Salamander(2) and vice-versa. This probably comes with the territory when wholly unrelated works share the same coincidental name and it's a glitch in the programming; I'm assuming the same applies to, for instance, two seperate novels both called Night Watch. It just feels a bit messy and unsatisfactory. Is there a way around this?
Edited by AgProvopenOne-Punch Man Bargain Day Anime
So I was reading through YMMV.One Punch Man and Funny. One Punch Man. They both say it's Hilarious in Hindsight that Saitama says "It's Bargain Day at the supermarket!" because some Redditors said it. But doesn't Saitama actually say that line in Japanese, or am I missing something?
openKarma Houdini Anime
Giant spoilers for Dragon Ball Super!
In the character pages for Goku Black and Future Zamasu, both characters are called Invincible Villains and Karma Houdinis because of the fact that they fused into Merged Zamasu, who is a different being entirely and therefore they can no longer be punished as individuals. While it is true that Merged Zamasu is his own entity, I still feel that this shouldn't mean his components are exempt from punishment. After all, if he dies, they both die with him. Another thing I'd like to point out is that when Gotenks got his ass kicked by Fat Buu, Goten and Trunks were noticeably injured after defusing, which means that any damage a fusion receives is carried over to his components.
Edited by ChaoticQueenopencharacter image assistance Anime
Hi, I'm requesting assistance with adding a character image to Yan-Min's folder on the Venus Academy page, because her role has become major enough to warrant it. The image I'd suggest is this one.
I figured I'd ask here, since I'm unable to do it myself. Any help would be appreciated.
openAnime / Film namespace disambiguation Anime
It seems there is an argument over whether Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV belongs to the Anime or Film namespace, given a troper has recently duplicated the article originally filed under Anime into the Film namespace.
Personally, I believe it belongs to Anime, and Film should be a redirect to the Anime namespace. This is because Kingsglaive, while being a CGI movie bordering on near-realistic models, still pertains to Japanese animation, as does Anime.Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (whic has not changed namespaces since the page's inception).
What do you think of this?
openOfficial Spelling in Dragon Ball Super Anime
Hello,
A troper by the name of Shadeblade 11 keep changing the Kyabe to Cabba on the Dragon Ball Super. Kyabe is the official English spelling given for this character, while Cabba was more or less the fans spelling. They did this before and I changed it, telling the user that this Kyabe is the official spelling and they went and changed it all back to Cabba. Can you please revert the page and tell this troper that we use the official spelling on this site.
open FLCL Anime
How do we make image suggestions for a page? I ask because I feel the current page image for FLCL (official artwork of Mamimi, Naota, and Canti), should be replaced with the one from this wiki page:
http://flcl.wikia.com/wiki/Fooly_Cooly
My reason being that Mamimi is more of a supporting character while Haruko is more-or-less the face of the series, and the second most important character after Naota. A FLCL page image without her is like a Calvin and Hobbes page image without Hobbes.

One Demongodofchaos2 re-added an example to YMMV.Keijo, after I have removed said example because it looked like covert bashing (after asking here). What to do?
Edited by desdendelle

I'm looking for tropes that could describe some characters. the first is usually like a sidekick, slightly unable to perceive all that is going on in the story (not a complete idiot), but good at heart and maybe some level of skill. The best example I can give for this is Raki from Claymore. The other trope character is someone who wears something like ninja fashion: long scarf, baggy pants, knee high socks that are tight on the legs, sleeveless shirt/whatever. Or perhaps something with this type of silhouette. Examples include the google searches of: "pixiv swastika robot wallpaper" "armored knight heartless" and "anime assassin". What type of trope fashion is this? Is this a type of Trope Uniform that incorporates other smaller tropes?
