openConcerns regarding potential single-issue wonk Videogame
A few weeks ago Kiana423 suggested
adding an Overshadowed by Controversy entry for Genshin Impact's English dub, due to an ongoing drama regarding a character recasting and the response from the game's voice actors. As someone unfamiliar with Genshin but who has heard of this, the entire situation and reactions to it would likely fall foul of the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment hereFrom a cursory searchA vocal minority of Genshin fans believe that the actors/SAG-AFTRA are in the wrong, though voice actors and some people have hit back by arguing that said vocal minority has spread misinformation regarding how unions work and AI, alongside allegations that a character's new VA has been involved in culture war disputes. The main agreement I can see with both sides is that one VA, Corina Boettger, reacted in a rather abrasive way..
As several people on the thread pointed out, aside from the trope having a 1 year waiting period for controversies, Genshin is such a hotbed for controversy that the dispute would have to eclipse any discussion of the game to warrant being overshadowed by controversy. Kiana responded
several
times
stating that the controversy is severe. Looking at Kiana's edits, they did make an edit to Memes.Genshin Impact (here
) which was a commented-out note not to mention anything regarding the VA strike.
While writing this entry I did see that the complaining thread already agreed to add a commented-out note to Genshin pages regarding drama importation, so I'm unsure if this will affect OBC. My main concern is if Kiana frequently mentioning the drama is potentially a single issue wonk.
Edited by SkylaNoivernopenMy formatting is messed up on Poker Face
With season 2 of Poker Face dropping, I'm trying to divvy up the show's character pages into the main characters, the villains and victims of each episode, and the various characters Charlie meets in each episode. However, while I have the main index boxes up on each sub page, they don't quite look right. I've never made boxes like that before, so I don't quite know what to do there.
EDIT: The reason why the rest of the info is still up on the main page is because I wanted the other two set up before I deleted it. I'm willing to edit in the fixes myself if that will be more helpful.
These are the respective pages.
Edited by JacobyInvestigativeopenThe Boba Tea Shop Videogame
There's this game called The Boba Tea Shop which is a horror game where you play as the owner of a boba shop. I tried searching it on tv tropes if there's a page abt it but there wasn't so I was wondering if I could create the page myself if it's okay
openLinking to game trailers Videogame
In the introduction to Blue Prince there are eight links to video game trailers, making the article look a bit like an advertisement. Is this appropriate? Would it be appropriate to remove them?
openI think my trope that is in the TLP is getting bombed without explanation.
When I launched my trope that Iβm currently working on and made edits to it, a person gave feedback, and I followed it. Then I got another bomb without explanation, so I tried to expand. Then I got the same thing after, without a comment as well. When I read the Darth Wiki's page on TLP guidelines, what was happening to me was one of the scenarios listed, so I'm trying to get info on this.
resolved Possible ban evader?
So recently Andy Maxuim made a post to the locked pages thread
asking for certain examples to be added to CurbStompBattle.Death Battle.
Thing is, these examples are something Deka-Ito also frequently asked to be added in the locked pages forum, down to the very same wording for the Mahito vs Shigaraki example
. Plus, their only edit has been to Death Battle S 11 E 09 Gurren Lagann VS White Lantern adding only Fight! to the page. Can we get an IP check?
opencan you re-arrange your avatar gallery?
title. mine is currently only images from one work, but if i add others i'd like to keep it organized in sections.
openYou Look Familiar
I noticed that the You Look Familiar laconic page mentions that the actor is a guest actor and it happens in the same continuity, but this isn't very clear in its main page. Are they actually required for it to count?
If those actually are required for the trope, then a large majority of examples on Pretty Cure's You Look Familiar subpage are misuse.
resolved Why are some pages locked?
I sometimes come across random [ages that are locked for a minute and say that a certain troper has "checked it out" for a certain timeframe, then it'll be back to normal as soon as I reload the page. I'd just like to know what's up with that.
openPlagiarism unless proven otherwise? Western Animation
So The Garfield Show has a huge problem with plagiarism on its recap pages; the summaries on a lot of them are partly or entirely plagiarized from the Garfield fan wiki (for example, the summary
for "Perfect Pizza" was originally a word-for-word copy of the synopsis
given for it on the wiki).
I've been going through the pages, removing the plagiarised summaries, and adding new ones. However, I hit a snag when I got to "Desperately Seeking Pooky"; while the given summary
differs from the wiki synopsis
, it's in the same format as the other plagiarised summaries and it was added by the same troper (thedealydugan95). As such, I suspect it was originally on the wiki and got changed at some point, but I don't really have any way to prove it. Should I assume that it falls under the same banner as the other summaries and edit it, or not?

resolved Troper keeps adding and removing images unilaterally
uchuupiart has been going on a spree of adding images on trope pages that are not good, pulling them without consensus, and then adding them again also without consensus. This is despite the fact that they seemed to show remorse for adding one
...before taking it down unilaterally.
I had sent them a notifier for one of the pages affected, What Does She See in Him?, and I sent another notifier for Loser Friend Puzzles Outsiders after someone remarked in its dedicated IP thread that the image was pulled unilaterally. I don't think Uchuupi will listen to this notifier either; we butted heads a little in regards to Grew Beyond Their Programming because their suggestions weren't good but it's clear they don't understand how IP works, nor do they understand the process for adding and removing images, nor are they willing to listen to other tropers trying to point them in the right direction.

Because Main.Annie seems redundant compared to Franchise.Annie, I've tried many times to add the former to the cut list, but my requests don't seem to go through.

resolved Double Standard: Rape... vs Double Standard Rape?
Why do all the tropes like Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male, Double Standard: Rape, Female on Female, Double Standard: Rape, Divine on Mortal, Double Standard: Rape, Sci-Fi has the ":" before the "Rape", but Double Standard: Rape, Female on Male has the ":" after the "Rape"? Is there a justified reason for that?
openEpisode summaries seem to be copyright violations Live Action TV
I've recently started watching The Good Doctor and looking at the episode pages. I subsequently noticed that the episode summaries, which are not too good anyway, seem to be copied - for example, the summary of "Believe" is the same as can be found on an other wiki at https://the-good-doctor.fandom.com/wiki/Believe
, which in turn is sourced to a site called "The Futon Critic", although I can find neither the actual text nor any copyright info there. What is the best course of action?
openPsychopathicManchild Help
In the Poppy Playtime page there's a character named Harley Sawyer who probably fits one half of the trope, but not the "manchild" half. He is stubborn and tempermental, but other then that he is by default serious. There's even a flashback section where he was heavily implied to be a child and was the only one of the group who was totally uninterested in having fun or goofing around. There are some traits he has which do seem a little bit childish, but overall, he doesn't seem at all like a child.
I said this to another troper, and though they disagreed that's not what I'm getting from the Psychopathic Man Child description
- Also even if yes, recklessness and stubbornness are traits associated with children, calling him a manchild is stretching it to me. Like for Sawyer to be a MANCHILD manchild he would have to be like, eating animal crackers during a surgery or saying something BLATANTLY childish - him saying "backstabbing traitors" is redundant but saying something like "big mean traitors" would be more outright childish.
The man child trope, looking at the description, seems to be less about characters like Harley who generally are mature but have some subtly individually childish tendancies and more children are full on children.
- Psychopathic Manchild: Beneath his stoic composure and genius, Sawyer is, at his core, a pathetically immature egomaniac, in the body of a grown man. He refuses to take criticism from subordinates, has an explosive temper, and uses redundant terms (i.e. "backstabbing traitors") when upset.
These are all traits that are true, but he is stoically composed and even his breakdowns sound more like...well, an adult having a breakdown then a kid. The one troper I've talked with disagrees, but I need a second opinion.

resolved Quick question about notifiers
Just wanted to make sure of something real quick (and also keep it in the back pocket that is my Queries section for future reference): if a troper has, say, ten edits that require a notifier be sent, are you supposed to send a notifier for each one, or just send one notifier for one edit out of the bunch?
I just need a refresher since the only thing I see in Notifiers is that if a troper racks up too many notifiers and continues to make bad edits they can get suspended.
openSlapstick trope of an ugly girl pursuing a male character? Western Animation
I think this was mostly a thing in the 90s - 2000s, but I remember it not being an uncommon running gag in cartoons to show an ugly girl/woman endlessly pursuing an unreciprocating male character (eg: Jessica Rabbitβs imposter in Who Framed Roger Rabbit). I feel like that archetype is different from the male equivalent, like Pepe Lepew, because even though they acted the same, the punchline was different. For example, part of the trope is the male MC being like βWoe is me! Why do I only attract the πΈπππππ girls???β which I never remember seeing from the female recipients of the male version of this trope. Is there a word for this archetype?
