openEditing Pages Based on Your Own Fics Web Original
I was curious on what the policy is for editing pages based on fanfics you've created. I heard something from a friend that it's usually something to steer away from as far as avoiding personal bias or tooting your own horn. Just wanted to check if that's true or not.
The page I'm talking about is one of my own called Ultimate Sonic Fighter and wanted to check if there was any kind of policy on the original author editing any pages based on their own works.
openShould we have a trope for this? Web Original
A lot of new Web Animations added here are one-shot manga anthologies featuring the same main characters in different situations. I'm talking AoHaru Manga Library, Manga Soprano, ATTACK on MIKA, things like that. If Object Shows already has its own page with a list of examples, why shouldn't these manga anthologies get one?
Edited by Eris250resolved Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek Web Original
So I made a page for Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek the other day, and then I thought of something. I was going to put the series into the FanWorks.Super Mario Bros page... only to be confused for quite a while, because the series itself is based on a mod for the game, so do I put it in ROM hacks or Web Video?
I have no idea.
Edit: I just realise that I thought about it too much, please ignore this.
Edited by NarioopenFreeman's Mind's namespace Web Original
The Freeman's Mind is in the WebVideo/ namespace, but is described as a Machinima.
When the Machinima/ namespace was discontinued, I thought all these works were moved to WebAnimation/. Should Freeman's Mind be moved?
Same question as for the Leeroy Jenkins Video, in fact.
openDeleting excess character pages Web Original
How do you deal with character pages that are bare bones apart from an image or Zero-Context Examples? Is it okay to get rid of them if they aren't fleshed out, or do you have to get approval?
I’ve brought the page I want to deal with (the overloaded Planet Dolan page) to the Character Page Cleanup
thread, but I don’t know where else to go from there.
resolved Is this a valid example of Playing Against Type? Web Original
So someone added this to Etra chan saw it!:
- Playing Against Type: In this episode
, Azami, who usually plays an Obnoxious In-Law, gets the role of the abused daughter-in-law and her usual role goes to Akane. Yuzuriha is also cast as a nerdy girl, which is usually Tsutsuji's role, and Tsutsuji herself gets Yuzuriha's usual role as a Crusading Lawyer.
As far as I know, the trope seems to cover only actors that play against what they're usually cast for, and don't include any in-universe examples. (For context, Etra chan saw it! has the characters as actors In-Universe).
Edited by mickey96openCaseoh page Web Original
I'm wondering if since he's starting to become popular, Caseoh can get a page. I mentioned him on Gentle Giants and so far that's the only Trope I have for him (I couldn't find a waifu trope for the Dolores bit, maybe Celeb Crush?), but it might become an edit war. I would like help creating a page.
Edited by RoseFuddopenSML ideas Web Original
If I want to make recap pages for SuperMarioLogan I have some ideas and questions. Most videos end with a question, can the SML question be put on the bottom or in the image which is the thumbnail?
A few videos changed the title from Mario to Jeffy's dad and Bowser to Junior’s dad. The reason is that the SML cast got a cease and desist letter from Nintendo where they can’t use those names. Should I use the original title or the current title? Examples are in these links:
https://sml.fandom.com/wiki/Mario_Sells_Jeffy!
https://sml.fandom.com/wiki/Bowser%27s_Change!
openWMG on a real life person Web Original
I noticed that there's a WMG page for I'm Autistic, Now What? that's mainly speculating on Megan's personal life.
Anyone else find this uncomfortable?
openUploading Images Web Original
How do I upload images from fandom? When I try to do that, TV Tropes says it can't upload files of this type.
openLinking external works? Web Original
If one were to add a quote or example from a fanfiction without a page on this site, is it ok to link the title to the fanfiction itself? Additionally, should the page of the original work be linked somewhere in the quote?
Eg.
as opposed to
openVimeo Web Original
Today I learned that Platform.Vimeo has 164 wicks
, even though it doesn't look like the page ever existed. Should someone make one, or should we just remove these wicks?
openUnexplained Deletions going on in the Inanimate Insanity character page Web Original
clonniecloo has been deleting a multitude of entries in the character page for Inanimate Insanity and no reasons have been given. I've also noticed that these all revolve around the character Cabby. Should this be a concern to acknowledge?
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryresolved Web Video series in Creator Namespace Web Original
I came across the page joshscorcher, which (putting aside some cleanup with regards to a since-removed ROCEJ wick, some real-life troping and misuse that I've already noticed) seems like it's more suited to the Web Video namespace than Creator, particularly with how it already has several subpages that Creator pages are only allowed to have for tropes regarding their works (such as a YMMV page).
I'm guessing that moving the namespace requires copying the content on Creator/ over to Web Video/ and then cutlisting the Creator/ copy, but the page has got so large that I don't want to immediately jump to doing so without fully knowing what I'm doing. What is normally done in this situation?
Edited by Akriloth2160openPage for multiple blogs by the same creator Web Original
I'm considering making pages for the blogs The Archdruid Report (currently defunct) and Ecosophia (still active), but I have a question first. Both of these blogs are by John Michael Greer, and while they have different names and are hosted on different websites, they cover very similar content and are effectively the same work in two parts. What would be best to do here? The options I'm considering:
- List the tropes for the blogs on Greer's own (not-yet-created) creator page.
- Make one page for both blogs.
- Make one page for each blog.
resolved Website page with no examples Web Original
I was hitting the random media button, just browsing different pages, and came across this page for Enigma Ingame. The page has no examples on it, and doesn't even really seem to be a tropable work, from what I can glean. Should this be cut?
open"That one popular tumblr prompt about shapeshifting cat" web original or webcomic? Web Original
I'm planning to make a page for a rather popular tumblr story who based on this specific prompt: https://64.media.tumblr.com/7628f052b2dbb72da37d1c9502f047a6/4a227267a67aab65-d5/s1280x1920/e6dc0900f497dc84d11daba02383b0134ce420d9.pnj
There is two oneshot webcomic version of the story one by lullychi
and one by foldingfittedsheet
, but since both comics following the same idea of the prompt so it would be unwise to turn them into separate pages for each comics. Like there is page for God of Arepo and it both covers two versions of the comics since they follow the story similar enough. However, I'm confused on which media I should tag this as. It first come from a short prompt idea, making it technically web original but the webcomic version is the most popular one.
Also the title. The prompt just suggesting the story idea without possible title, however the story often referred as The Witch's Cat or The Most Beautiful Woman in the Town.
Which one should i use as the title?

Recently, LCJ has removed
the unmarked spoiler warning of Kaufmo's folder (a Walking Spoiler) in Characters. The Amazing Digital Circus Players and inserted a bunch of spoiler tags without elaborating why they did it.
I'm soliciting a mod to revert this huge change, because as well as the lack of reason, it's clear that Kaufmo's folder is better off with unmarked spoilers due to a large majority of the tropes listed in it addressing spoilers from the work, not to mention that thus far, there's been only one more edit (on Ragatha's folder) after the removal that I can easily restore following the reversal.
