openManawyddan's edits Western Animation
I've posted
an ATT about Manawyddan before concerning their Values Dissonance edits. Now I've run into them again, and I'm starting to realize their edits have some recurring issues (many of them appearing on Miraculous Ladybug and pages related to it).
To whit, they:
- Have made multiple
edits
on YMMV.Ladybug And Cat Noir The Movie that amount to complaining about both the changes the movie made and Jeremy Zag as a whole.
- Made Values Dissonance edits that don't really qualify for the trope and tread close to violating the ROCEJ, as discussed in the above-mentioned ATT.
- Have a variable grasp on grammar and spelling, and have seemingly made a habit of fixing such on their edits only after they add them to the page.
resolved Pre-show Debut Western Animation
What's the name for the Trope where a character first appears in some type of promotional picture or merchandise before their actual debut in the show itself?

Can I add awesome music to my Fanfic series? And how do I add the subpage?
openHelp with Video Examples Western Animation
I tried to upload a video example from my phone, but it came out rotated? It had the correct orientation when I saw it on my phone. What do I do?
Mods, if you see the video example, don't approve it.
Edited by fakejacobopenWhat qualifies for an "Animation" namespace Western Animation
Hello,
I am considering moving The Loud House Mega Music Countdown into a new namespace (right now it’s under the Recap namespace), given that it was produced as a standalone work and that it’s annoying to type out the piped links. However, I don’t know if I should move it into the Film namespace or the Western Animation namespace.
To give me an idea of which namespace it should go into, given that it’s basically a hybrid project, I need to ask these questions regarding what makes a work qualify as an animation on TV Tropes’ concern.
1. How much of the footage needs to be animated at minimum for it to qualify?
2. How much of the animated footage at minimum needs to be original? (By “original”, I mean that it can’t be recycled from a pre-existing work.)
I’d appreciate your input because then I’d have a basic guideline on how to categorize other (standalone) hybrid media of this type where, in terms of total footage, the animated footage may outweigh the live-action footage, while in terms of original footage, the live-action footage may outweigh the animated footage, or vice versa.
Edited by BlankBlanknessresolved EditWar Western Animation
Kingslayer 38 committed another Edit War:
- On the Base-Breaking Character page of Miraculous Ladybug, they added
a Chained Sinkhole.
- I deleted
it.
- They added it back
with no edit reason or sign of discussion.
A reminder that this isn't the first time they have done something like that
.

resolved deliberately wearing an item upside down or in reverse orientaton Western Animation
Is there a trope for deliberately (i.e. not out of clumsiness or ignorance) wearing items like clothes or jewelry in an orientation opposite to the "correct" one already established ? May or may not reflect characterization.
I'm looking for this kind of trope because at the end of the most recent Miraculous Ladybug special (Miraculous World London), I've noticed the new big bad puts on the previous' big bad brooch but she wears it upside down.
The brooch is butterfly-shaped with four wings, and the previous big bad Monarch wore it with its longer wings pointing to his neck.
Conversely, the new big bad is shown wearing it with longer wings pointing downward. I wonder if this worth mentioning, at least until it is confirmed to not be a blopper.
Thx!
openShould there be a trope for this? Western Animation
In a lot of western animation mainly slapstick based ones, there seems to be a combination of these 3 things in some scenes.
Battle Discretion Shot, No Holds Barreled Beatdown, Karma redistribution all in 1 scene. Examples of this include
The ending of Mr Right in Fairly Oddparents probably the perfect and most extreme example of this.
The camping episode in Sponge Bob Square Pants with the sea bear mauling Squidward.
Ending of Kick Buttowski’s Locked Out
Teen titans go caged tiger ending (not sure if it could fall under battle discretion shot as well however)
Looney tunes cartoons, Gumball, Ed edd n eddy have too many examples to name but the picture should be here. It seems a lot of these more slapstick oriented cartoons geared towards a young audience have a scene like the ones I mentioned. A scene usually where a butt monkey essentially suffers a beating in the end in which it contains the first 3 tropes all in that one scene. Is it worthy of a trope article?
open2003 Starfire's Fatal Flaw Western Animation
I've seen on their page that the core team (Terra included) of Teen Titans (2003) have Fatal Flaws, but Starfire is the lone exception. What would her Fatal Flaw be?
openX-Men '97: MCU or not? Western Animation
So......time to go back to that annoying question once again: Do we put X-Men '97 back in the Multiverse Saga timeline on the franchise page?
For: It's made by Marvel Studios. It's included on the timeline and section on Disney+ as an official part of the MCU. A variant of TAS/97 Storm will be featured on an episode of What If season 3.
Against: Beau DeMayo went on record to state '97 isn't a part of the MCU.
My take: Studios tend to have the final say, and creators can sometimes be full of crap. James Gunn was adamant that Daredevil and the Netflix shows weren't canon. Soooo... welp on that one. There's also the fact that DeMayo was fired for being a giant dick and sex pest, so Marvel/Disney don't really want to ride on his word as the Word of God - going so far as even striking him from the credits going forward. The creator himself said nay, but there's seemingly more weight to the yay.
openAvoiding an edit war to make some corrections to an entry Western Animation
Recently, AK47Productions edited an entry I had added to Self-Demonstrating.Alastor, under the reasoning of cleaning up Word Cruft.
This is the entry before their edit:
- Well, look who we got here, His Infernal Majesty from another Hell different to the one of my universe! I first heard of you from Niffty wanting your bizarre lobster claw hands, and yes, you look completely bizarre, down to your appeal of dressing up like a woman. And while your fighting prowess is admittedly impressive, it's squandered to the ground by the fact that you just keep trying to take over one specific city only to lose to a trio of weird futuristic experimental "children" (and on one occasion, their fusion with their similarly youthful prototype, even after you've shown capable of mind-controlling that prototype if only for a little while) over and over again, when you have a whole Earth and universe to conquer at your will. Let me ask you a question: Do you ever think outside the box like I always do? Not to mention that you vehemently refuse to use your real name...
After the edit:
- Well, look who we got here, His Infernal Majesty from another Hell different my own! I first heard of you from Niffty wanting your bizarre lobster claw hands, and yes, you look completely bizarre, down to your appeal of dressing up like Angel on the stage. And you squander your powers by trying to take over one specific city over and over again, only to lose to a trio of lab rats masquerading as children when you have a whole Earth and universe to conquer at your will. Let me ask you a question: Do you ever think outside the box like I do? Not to mention that you vehemently refuse to use your real name...
While I don't mind the condensation and removal of redundant wording they did, they accidentally left behind a grammar error and removed a bit of context that the entry cited, which I'd like to correct like this plus some more additions of mine (changes are in bold):
- Well, look who we got here, His Infernal Majesty from another Hell different to my own! I first heard of you from Niffty wanting your bizarre lobster claw hands, and yes, you look completely bizarre, down to your appeal of dressing up like Angel on the stage. And you squander your powers by trying to take over one specific city over and over again, only to lose to a quartet of lab rats masquerading as children and an adolescent when you have a whole Earth and universe to conquer at your will. Let me ask you a question: Do you ever think outside the box like I do? Not to mention that you vehemently refuse to use your real name...note HIM: YOU DARE CRITICIZE MY FLAMBOYANT SENSE OF FASHION AND INSULT ME FOR ONLY WANTING TO WRECK HAVOC IN TOWNSVILLE AND NOWHERE ELSE, MUCH LESS HUMILIATE ME FOR CONSTANTLY LOSING TO THOSE PESKY GIRLS YOU CALL "LAB RATS" WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THEY CAN DO?!?! I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU'LL FACE THE WRATH OF THE EVILEST OF EVIL!!!! Alastor: Heh, if you're so confident about it, I'd dare you to say that to Princess Morningstar or her father...
Do I have permission to go ahead with these proposed corrections and additions without problem, or is there something I have to change?
Edited by Inky100openHow to Add a Fan fiction I Enjoy and is Popular? Western Animation
I've come across a fan fiction that I quite enjoy called SCP - 666 "Hazbin" and wish to add it to the site. Unfortunately, I do not know how to do as such. I am not a tech savy to say the least and there is little to no information on how to go about it. I am the type of person who requires explicit details on how to go about completing a task and would very much like to have some assistance.
How do I make a Fanfiction page and upload it to the site?
openRecap page for unreleased episode Western Animation
Someone made a recap page for an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2023) that was blocked from release but leaked online. Just wanna double check and make sure that's a violation of the "no troping leaks" rule (which...honestly feels obvious, but I wanted to make sure) before I banish it to the cutlist.
openMass "similar characters" misuse? Western Animation
I've been planning on doing a general clean-up on both the main and character pages for Ghost Force, and there's a particularly big issue I noticed that I wanted a second opinion on. Specifically, I noticed a lot of usage of "character X is similar to character Y" tropes (Expy, Suspiciously Similar Substitute, Corrupted Character Copy, etc.) on the page that feels incredibly misused. Most if not all of them seem to be under the assumption that, since the same company produced both, all the Ghost Force characters are copies of Miraculous Ladybug characters to some extent just because they share appearances and/or character traits. I'm pretty sure that the tropes are being misused, but I wanted to double check here before removing them.
resolved Troper with recurring grammar/spelling issues Western Animation
I was on Characters.Ghost Force when I noticed that Manawyddan had made multiple
edits
that had
a somewhat shaky grasp on grammar (writing "Is shown more than once to have difficulty delivering correctly his lines." in regards to a character, for example). I corrected the grammar and sent them a notifier about it, but as far as I can tell, they're still
at it
(using "apparitions" in place of "appearances", "But then this asks the question if the heroes notice and wonder why Monarch and his supposed still there accomplice no more send in Sentimonsters in Season 5."), and there's no sign of them on the "get help with English" thread as far as I can tell.
Incidentally, this isn't
the first time
I've brought Manawyddan up here. At this point, I'm not sure what else to do.
resolved Page lock Western Animation
Is it possible to get Once Upon a Studio and Once Upon a Studio locked for editing? Those two attract massive amounts of headcanoning from tropers.

Just noticed that autocorrect added an "s" to The Legend Of Vox Machina in the titles of the first three episodes of season 3, and they need to be corrected.
- The Legend Of Vox Machinas 03 E 01 A Deadly Bargain
- The Legend Of Vox Machinas 03 E 2 Prisoners Of Ank Harel
- The Legend of Vox Machina: S03 E3: "Vexations"
