Edited by GracieChang08openQuestionable WTA Entry Western Animation
I was browsing the WarpThatAesop.Total Drama page and I noticed an entry at the bottom that feels questionable at best:
- All the boys of Gen Z who are not black have average or below average intelligence.
I already know it's inaccurate (for context: it's clearly meant to refer to the reboot cast, which has two dark-skinned boys who are both clearly The Ditz to some degree and one who has a firm hold on the Idiot Ball come season 2), but the main reason I'm bringing it up here is because I'm getting some Unfortunate Implications vibes from it — but I can't put a description on those vibes, and I'm not sure if this qualifies as breaking WTA's rules otherwise, so I figured I'd get a second opinion or two before deleting it.
openWhere do I go for help? Western Animation
Rainbow Phoenix is certain that The Simpsons S8 E15: "Homer's Phobia" was an N-Word Privileges-focused episode, and was arguing with me and trying to instigate an edit war which I refused to take part in.
Yes, they have a point since there is a subtle difference when certain people make jokes about subject and how audiences react to it, and odds are, a writer probably had this in mind. However, this isn't enough to make a fuss about who's right when describing it on a page which is being viewed by the public.
I pointed out, since I am pan, so I would be hypothetically be able to make jokes with lesser backlash if I ever got to be a creator of any work, but fighting with people because they think they're 100% right is so not ethical. That's what this user has been trying to do to me.
Now, this episode did cause a Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales so this should speak for itself, and most of these viewers don't even know who the writer is, let alone would be aware of their sexual orientation.
Where do I discuss this problem? I hate resorting to Ask The Tropers but the cleanup thread hasn't been used in a very long time.
openHow to make a trope page for Under the Boardwalk? Western Animation
I was looking for the trope page for Paramount Animation's 2024 film "Under the Boardwalk", but as far as I can tell, it doesn't exist? There is a red-linked Under the Boardwalk page, which has a warning on it that it was basically cut because somebody did a really half-arsed job of starting it. So what's the proper procedure for relaunching the page? I will admit I'm actually not sure what indexes it would go on myself, but I do at least have a number of appropriate tropes...
openValues Dissonance accuracy problems? Western Animation
There's a troper I've spotted doing a lot of edits on Miraculous Ladybug and related pages, Manawyddan, who's been concerning me. While their grammar missteps are the more obvious problem here, they've also been adding a bunch of Values Dissonance entries regarding how the show is seen in its native France compared to America, and I'm not 100% sure on the accuracy of some of these. They first came to my attention with an edit
on YMMV.Miraculous Ladybug S 01 E 15 The Gamer; at the time, I just re-wrote it to fix the grammar and move it to its own trope, especially since I don't know enough about the French side of the fandom to confirm their claim (the entry was later removed outright by someone else). But then I noticed they'd made other edits to the main YMMV page — including more
Values
Dissonance
entries (and the third link has what feels like a ROCEJ violation, too). Again, the grammar is the obvious issue, but I'm also doubting how accurate the Values Dissonance entries in particular are.

Edited by GracieChang08resolved YMMV page creation Western Animation
I recently created a YMMV page for a fanfic I wrote called So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, A-D'oh. I'm told that creating YMMV pages for one's own work is frowned upon here. But since the only item relates to an episode of the show in question, in this case The Simpsons, could an exception be made?
openPermission to remove "Hypocrite" entry from Characters/TheOwlHouseAmityBlight. Western Animation
I originally removed the entry since one of the stipulations of the trope is that it has to be something addressed In-Universe, which it wasn't.
"Hypocrite is NOT a YMMV trope. Please don't add it to YMMV pages. A character is a Hypocrite in-universe or isn't one at all."
Yet it was readded by M3S
while openly acknowledging it wasn't brought up In-Universe, then later modified by Noobmaster
and added here
rather than removed. I can't remove it again without causing an Edit War but this appears to be a clear case of misuse, since Amity is not regarded as a hypocrite In-Universe, so I'm requesting permission to remove it again while linking back to this post.
resolved Troper responding rudely to grammar notifier Western Animation

resolved Potential Edit War Western Animation
Hello, I recently added a fic rec to the Hazbin Hotel section and someone later came back and edited in a “YMMV” about the author, not commenting about the fic itself, making it unnecessary.
It comes off as petty and rude, not to mention false, so I removed it only for it to be added back in a little while later by the same user. I have sent a message to the user but I think a mod should get involved to stop an editing war.
The ones who added the “YMMV” edit back in is Keida.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=FanficRecs.HazbinHotel&page=7
Also I am fairly new to the site so please let me know if I need to provide more information or am putting this in the wrong section.
Thank you.
Edited by TuneGlowopenFic Rec Vandalism Western Animation
An author in the Hazbin Hotel begged to have one of their fics put on the recs page. The user Tuneshine obliged. However, their writing is very OOC, including in the fic recommended, and many of their other fics include graphic depictions of abuse without being properly tagged. I added a YMMV, but Tuneshine has removed it twice. To address their complaint that it was untrue hate, I re-added it as a review with a more "neutral" tone. What should I do if the troper removes it again? How do I make them stop?
This is the current review. This is not a matter of spite for the author. It is an issue of quality. Her writing is OOC and her other fics upsetting enough, without the appropriate warnings to inform readers of what they are getting into, that it is worth warning if she is going to be on the recs page. If there is something wrong with my current review, how do I tweak it so that it can stay?
My initial YMMV was this.
YMMV: Not for people for a preference for canon characterization. Author writes adaptional heroism fics and frequently depicts Adam/Lute as highly abusive without properly tagging.
This is the current review.
- "Review": This fic is not for someone who prefers canon characterization. Tread carefully before checking the author's other works, as many include highly upsetting content that is not tagged properly for the severity of the abuse displayed.
resolved SpectacularTroper keeps adding GoodParents example back. Western Animation
On the show As Told by Ginger, there is edit warring when it comes to the Good Parents example for the character Jonas Foutley.
Objectively, the character Jonas Foutley has been in and out of his kids lives. He’s too neglectful to qualify for being a good parent. Despite me adding this reason many times, troper Spectacular Troper keeps on adding the example back.
EDIT: I shouldn't have put this on resolved. It was a mistake. I did so because I messaged the troper.
Edited by MsCC22resolved Author begged for fic page Western Animation
Hi, when reading a different query, I saw that a moderator mentioned that authors should not be requesting their own trope pages. There's a Hazbin Hotel fanfic called Earn It. The author of that fic begged over and over for someone to make a page for their fic here. I don't think anyone would have made it if it weren't for the endless begging. Is something like that not allowed to be on here? I'm mostly asking because I have had a few authors ask me to make pages for them without it being my original idea.
openQuestionable Good Parents example for Jonas Foutley from As Told By Ginger Western Animation
Since Spectacular Troper and I couldn't come to an agreement regarding the Good Parents example from As Told by Ginger, I decided to make a seperate one here (since the other one is locked).
Spectaular Troper believes that Jonas Foutley is qualified to be a good parent since he does attempt to be a better father in the series despite him walking out on his kids. He admittedly does become more involved in his kids lives.
I oppose the example since Jonas Foutley spent the majority of the screen time being notably absent from his two kids' lives. Even Lois Foutley doesn't see him as a good parent In-Universe (and she initially didn't buy the fact that Jonas wanted to be a present father because she believed that he would just walk out on his kids lives again). Jonas walked out of his kids lives when Carl was an infant. This caused Carl to have some bitterness and resentment towards him due to Jonas missing a couple of years and milestones in his two kids‘ lives.
I believe that Jonas is better fitted for Parents as People because his bad decisions regarding his parenting isn't done out of malice. It was due to his own insecurities and fear that he would not be a good father.
