Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:

- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.

openIs this troper with agenda? Music
- Men Are the Expendable Gender: The ending of the video seems to take a great amount of glee showing the giant Pam/Vallery eating the all-male band. With lots of shots of each terrified man begging for his life before showing Pam/Val eat him entirely on screen with no cutting away or Gory Discretion Shot for any of them. And by the end, not only is every single man dead, but the Giant Woman gets off scott free, suffering no repercussions for what she did. It's hard to imagine an all-female band getting eaten one by one would ever end with all of them killed off, or be portrayed in such a cavalier way.
Uhhhh…what? Am I getting agenda vibes here? For describing a silly fetish-y music video involving a giantess.
openMore Fridge.Music Cleanup Music
My efforts to clean up Fridge.Music have most recently moved a number of entries from movies and theater to Fridge pages for those media.
Now, I can see a few entries which might be too general. Specifically, I'm talking about these:
- Why do so many Japanese songs have upbeat melodies but depressing lyrics? It's because it's an "in the moment" song. The times between the people mentioned in this song are good, but there are also bad times, and even with those still going on, it makes the good times even sweeter. Even if there's a melancholy to the lyrics, the song stays upbeat because the "memories" that come with them are worth it.
- A fridge brilliance for Techno (this stripped-down, dark and robotic subgenre of electronic music): why was there no melodies, cool fat synths like in Electro-House? 'Cause it's made for live performance. Live, cool synths often get completely squashed: only remains the drums and the bassline, which are THE elements that will make a human dance.
- Patron is an expensive brand of tequila that has made its way into a lot of rap/r&b lyrics. The thought that, because a bottle costs so much, Patron was popular with music artists because of this association with the excess of success. Then realizing that Patron just rhymes with a lot of words. You can make a similar case for Henny and Goose, or Grey Poupon.
- You bought a CD from a band you are discovering, you sit down to listen to it and you hate it; you kindly toss it to a corner of your room. Some day later, you found out you are humming one of the songs, so you listen to the CD again and boom! It rocks! What a good record! This may or may not happen to you if you listen to Green by R.E.M. and / or The Soft Parade by The Doors.
Are any of these salvageable?
openDuplicate article? Music
Just noticed that we have two pages for the artist Gackt: Creator.Gackt and Music.Gackt. They both seem to cover the same content (his music).
resolved The question of composers, both classical and modern Music
Since a fair number of composers have been placed under Music/, and I still see plenty of others classified under Creator/ (eg Creator.Nobuo Uematsu), should such creators be transferred over to Music/ (at least unless they're also known for non-music fields)?
resolved What to do with Alternative Indie Music
I feel that the Alternative Indie index is poorly-defined and in a stiff need of a cleanup. It's just a simple descriptor followed by an index of what tropers felt are alternative/indie, and I'm not overly sure about a good chunk of the contents.
Should we just rework and rename the index? I'm thinking a stiff rewrite to a new Indie Rock index to differentiate it from Indie Pop; for the Alternative Rock acts, there is an Alternative Rock index already, though it refers to the subgenres within.
Edited by GrafVonTirolopen Music-Inspired narratives? Music
Honestly, this could be a trope itself. I’m thinking of music-inspired narratives like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, Afro Samurai, Baby Driver, ETC.
Name more music-inspired narratives. Maybe this could be its own article or something.
Edited by TheBryceKrispyopenBand question Music
I was browsing The Mechanisms' page and found they were 'created' by Dr. Carmilla, who also has a page for her solo work, and the Mechanisms struck out on their own pretty quickly. But for their brief time when they worked together, I found that also has a page, Dr. Carmilla & the Mechanisms, which is pretty bare-bones and hasn't updated in 4 years. Since both parts of the band decided to continue working within the same storyline but under separate names, is the collab page really necessary since they're more famous as separate acts?
Edited by lalalei2001openEnough tropes for a page? Music
Trivia is allowed on creator pages. Is a band in Music/ a kind of creator page or strictly speaking not a creator page because of the namespace? Breed 77 won't have enough examples without the one trivia.
Oh, and one's light on context...
Edited by Tabsopenplace to put WIP crap! Music
Hey dudes/dudettes, I'm trying to work on some pages for bands that lack a Tv T page. Is there a place to write these on the wiki instead of a word processor?
openAwesome music subpage? Music
Hey guys, what are the rules for awesome music subpages? I want to make one for Depeche Mode.
openPage with no examples Music
Ariel Pink contains no examples at all. What should be done with it?
openYMMV entry without a work page? Music
Just stumbled upon YMMV.Trouble, which is soft-split between the comic and the band. Thing is, we don't have a page for the band, so is this okay?
openproper namespace help? Music
Hey guys, is Creator/ or Music/ the proper namespace for the page i just made, Midge Ure?
openCyndi Lauper Music
Should the Wresting/ namespace be added to Cyndi Lauper, given her influence that paved way to WWE's Wrestlemania?
openOops. Music
The bottom part of the Memes/Music page is a disaster, as it looks like someone tore through it and made the label notes not work. I am beginning to think that I accidentally caused it, as an I am pretty sure an example switched to a broken one after I deleted a broken one. Can someone please revert my edits and make them better? P.S: Sorry for the length and begging.
Edited by ehwhynotopenShould I do a ReferencedBy page for Milli Vanilli? Music
I was wondering if I should start a Referenced by… page for Milli Vanilli. I want to, but I fear it will morph into a Take That! page instead (I started one for MC Hammer that's still pretty respectful asof this writing).
openPro-Jackson bias? Music
Full disclosure: I am a massive Michael Jackson fan who thinks he was innocent of all the charges he was accused of in his life. Now with that out the way...
Omega 3421 has made a few Michael Jackson-related edits of late, many fixing grammatical issues, which is fine, but I noticed a couple of justifying edits from them made yesterday, and a few that stretch back at least to late 2020.
One edit that made me raise an eyebrow was that on the page for Jackson's album HIStory they had links
to pro-MJ videos and sites, and had done something similar
on the trivia page of the Simpsons episode that featured Jackson, and probably a few other pages. I also saw that they removed references to Jackson's allegations on some of his articles and YMMV pages as well, which I partially reverted.
Again, while I have my own opinions on MJ, Omega's edits still fall under possible ROCEJ violations, so I wanted to get consensus to revert some of them just so I don't trigger an edit war.
Edited by AfroThunderopenTeamheadkick Music
Can someone create this article about Teamheadkick, with a list of their songs?

After a few recent visits to Fridge.Music, I thought is was overdue for cleanup. So, I made an attempt at that over the last week or two, alphabetizing the entries by artist (where available), rewording some entries to remove This Troper, removing Natter, turning artists' names into links (some of which came out red), and also commenting out a couple of entries that came across as Zero Context Examples.
However, I think I might need some help with what's left. If you'd like to see the extent of what I've done so far, the link's above and the alphabetical order starts with 3OH!3.
First off, I've seen a lot of entries for songs from movies and musicals. Should those be moved to pages about those movies and musicals?
