resolved British 70s TV, Moth leaves a hole on the table etc. Film
Hi all,
This has bugged me for years and years. Im now 46 but when i was about 6 or 7, there was a programme on UK tv where a moth landed on a table, and it left a hole, and also one through the floor below, and a man looked through it, but i looked away because i was scared to death!
Does anybody from UK have the faintest clue what programme I'm on about? Probably 1975 ish?
Thanks all.
resolved On The Search For A Certain Chistmas Movie That's Bugging Me Because I Googled Everywhere Film
Looking for the name of a specific Christmas movie with a little girl who is named Alexandra who I think is from the orphanage and making short bread cookies with her mom or the one she was living with was speaking Spanish and Alexandra the little girl was singing along with the song "Mamacita Dónde Esta Santa Claus" and then she went to her room to get a Christmas gift for her Mom or the one she was living with and the police show up with a warrant for her arrest and gets arrested and the little girl who is named Alexandra ends up on Main St. with a dog named Chico and looks through the dumpster and finds a blanket and sleeps by the dumpster for the night and then a woman named Chloe after ordering a Latte at a coffee shop stumbles upon the little girl and the woman calls her friend that works at Child and Family Services and gets Alexandra registered into the system and then as the movie goes on Chloe decides to take Alexandra in to be part of her family along with her new boy friend.
If anyone out there could please tell me the Title name of the movie it would be sincerely greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Edited by simbadog77openGeneral question about dates for life and death Film
For creator pages, is it needed that the life and death of a person (i.e. (23 December 1940 - 4 March 1994) have "Born" in front of the birthdate, or is it just "first come, first serve"? It seems like a similar thing happens on The Other Wiki.
Edited by CanuckMcDuck1resolved How do we plan on handling the DCU in the future? Film
So in 2025, James Gunn's DC Universe reboot will officially launch with Superman (2025). However, given that we already have a page titled DC Universe (covering the comics), I wonder how we're gonna tackle the new DCU once it gets rolling. Particularly the name, since we can't reuse it since the comics already use it.
Maybe something like Franchise.DC Universe James Gunn or just Creator.DC Cinematic Universe.
Edited by Tylerbear12resolved Is the Wiki dropping CamelCasing? Film
Over on the Deadpool & Wolverine work page, someone replaced Required Secondary Powers with {{Required Secondary Power|s}}, despite the title of the trope including a plural to start off with.
Is the wiki moving away from Camel Casing?
I'm not good at grammar, so if it is a valid edit, I'll leave it alone.
openDeadpool & Wolverine Film
Okay, not a very big deal, but I'd like to see opinions on this:
If the "Films — Live-Action" folder of a trope already has examples sorted under a Marvel Cinematic Universe entry and/or a Deadpool film series entry, where would you put examples from Deadpool & Wolverine?
I would, personally, favor sorting them with the other Deadpool movies, since technically the film's action is mostly tangential to the MCU, and it spends very little time in the actual Sacred Timeline.
resolved The Godfather II and III Film
Why don't they have their own work pages separate from the first film? Why condense one of the most iconic trilogies in cinematic history to a single page?
openWhy do directors and writers get indexed, but not actors? Film
I’ve seen this crop up where famous directors and novelists (such as Martin Scorsese or Stephen King) have their works be indexed to their Creator/ page. Meanwhile, actors in general (such as Tom Cruise, for example), no matter renown, do not get indexed.
I understand if including every actor with a creator page would needlessly bloat the page, but why not at least top-billed or starring roles in these works? I'm not annoyed about it, I’m just curious why.
openAbout re-adding a commented-out entry that was completely removed before. Film
Back when Saw X had to be released yet (about a year before, on September 2nd, 2023), I added
a commented-out example of Extra-Long Episode with intention of removing the "commented-out" tag upon the film's release, based on published information that it would be the Saw movie with the longest runtime so far at 1 hour and 58 minutes (which proved to be true once it was released). Another troper later removed
it the same day because, according to them, commented-out entries added before a work's release aren't allowed (it's a "rule" I didn't really understand, nor I could deduce it'd be official, because earlier in the page's history, the same troper had commented out several examples lacking context
without removing them completely from the page, until context was either given or clarified by other tropers).
Now that it's been almost a year since the film's been released, I considered about adding a re-written version of my example, since I think the movie's difference in runtime compared to its predecessors is still significant enough to be considered an example of the trope (especially considering it was a fact officially confirmed by the production crew before the movie was released).
- Extra-Long Episode: Whereas the previous Saw movies sat around the average runtime of one hour and a half (with Saw III, the longest by then, clocking at 1 hour and 40 minutes), Saw X is the first that's close to the two-hour mark (at 1 hour and 58 minutes), making it the longest film in the series overall.
I just set up this ATT query to get permission to re-add the entry so I can avoid a potential Edit War, or see if others think it doesn't qualify for the trope.

Hey do you guys think that the King Kong fan film remake made by You Tuber Big Jack Films should have it's own page here on TV Tropes?

resolved Avoiding an edit war for Sonic 3 (2024) Film
I recently deleted an entry for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) about Robotnik and Gerald's relationship being supposedly changed here
, as while Robotnik calls Gerald "pop pop", with most people might be akin to him calling him "dad" other languages like the Japanese and Portuguese subs/dubs have him call Gerald "Grandpa"
, just like in the games.
It was recently added again
, but I am wondering if deleting it and citing the same thing would end up being grounds for a potential edit war until the movie actually comes out to clarify things to avoid Speculative Troping.
If not, should there be a note at the top or under the trope about it too?
Edit, someone just removed that edit as well
.
resolved Troper undid my edits without giving any reason Film
So a troper named Yosuke Jiraiya completely undid
a couple of edits i made
without consulting me or giving a reason why. As far as I can see, I did not misuse any tropes nor was I permabanned for an edit to be completely undone. What can I do about this? Can I get permission to re-add my edits so I can reinstate them with consensus?
openCan overriding other tropers' entries in favor of your own entries count as an Edit War? Film
About a couple years ago, I added this example of Numerological Motif to Saw VI:
- Numerological Motif: Being the sixth Saw film, there are several allusions to the number six throughout Saw VI.
- Overall, there are six traps in the film, including the opening trap and all the five traps in William's trial. This is further cemented by one of the film's taglines: "6 chances. 6 lessons. 6 choices."
- One of the traps in itself, the Carousel Trap, has six victims.
- Jill is seen holding an instruction envelope from the box with the number six written on it, likely implying that there were six of them inside the box.
- The film's "Hello Zepp" rendition, "Zepp Six", clocks at six minutes within the six-minute climax.
Later, on January of this year, Ze Trope Guy 999 added
the following example of Arc Number in the same page, the sub-bullets of which, while fewer and less elaborate, are similar to those of my example.
- Arc Number: Six, as befitting the sixth entry.
- There are six victims on the Shotgun Carousel.
- Jill Tuck’s box is revealed to have six envelopes in it - the sixth one containing a photograph of Hoffman.
I'm planning to combine the two entries, mostly using my descriptions but also including some minor facts mentioned in ZeTropesGuy's entry, into a single example of Arc Number, as I had noticed the latter entry today and realized that Arc Number fits better for the film's symbolism of the number six than Numerological Motif. The end result would look like this:
- Arc Number: Befitting its status as the sixth Saw film, there are several allusions to the number six throughout Saw VI.
- Overall (without counting the Reverse Bear Trap 2.0, an updated version of the first film's Reverse Bear Trap that has considerably less screentime than the other traps), there are six traps in the film, including the opening trap and all the five traps in William's trial. This is further cemented by one of the film's taglines: "6 chances. 6 lessons. 6 choices."
- One of the traps in itself, the Shotgun Carousel, has six victims.
- Aside from the five envelopes she gives to Hoffman, Jill is seen holding another instruction envelope from the box with the number six written on it (revealed in the climax to contain instructions on how she has to set up the Reverse Bear Trap 2.0 on Hoffman, likely implying that there were six of them inside the box.
- The film's "Hello Zepp" rendition, "Zepp Six", clocks at six minutes within the six-minute climax.
However, I'm worried that the fact that I'm overriding much of ZeTropeGuy's entry with mine could lead to an Edit War if I don't address my planned edit properly. Can this edit really be considered Edit Warring, or is it completely fine to do?
Edited by Inky100resolved Complaining in Critical Dissonance Film
I was looking at the edit history for the film section of Critical Dissonance, and I noticed that a troper had added
a lengthy entry for Captain Marvel (2019) that seems more dedicated to bashing the film than actually discussing the trope at hand; they also added what looks like natter to various other entries (specifically Ghostbusters (2016), Cuties, Mulan (2020), and Peter Pan & Wendy). I was already planning on cutting down on the Captain Marvel example, but I wanted to double-check on if I should restore the other edited entries to how they looked before.
openIntentional vs. Accidental Nightmare Fuel Film
On YMMV.A Minecraft Movie, I noticed AudioSpeaks2 had added
a Nightmare Fuel entry concerning the disturbing appearance of the sheep and llama that appeared in the teaser. I changed it
to Unintentional Uncanny Valley, since it felt like a more fitting trope (as Minecraft sheep and pigs generally aren't meant to be disturbing). They changed
it
back, citing that the characters looked equally disturbed by the sheep. Not wanting to start an edit war, I messaged them and told them why I changed it to UUV (the characters could just be reacting to the site of a cubical sheep at all, and the only other mobs played for horror in the teaser are already-hostile ones like Creepers), but they have yet to respond to me — and in the time since I sent it, someone else
changed it to UUV, and AudioSpeaks2 changed it back.
It's definitely starting to hit edit war territory at this point, and while I'm still sure it fits UUV better, I figured I'd get some second opinions here before trying to change it again.
openDoes a Razzie mention count as bashing? Film
This has been something I've been wondering about for a while now, and I finally decided it was time to get some second opinions.
Some years ago, when the YMMV.Fifty Shades Of Grey page was still locked, I wanted to add an Award Snub entry to it — I'd realized that the third film had been the only one in the series that hadn't been nominated for a Worst Picture Golden Raspberry Award. I asked if a mod could add that entry; from what I remember, the response I got was "that's Actually Pretty Funny, but no". I don't remember the specific reason why they said no, but I think it might've been because that could have been seen as complaining.
Now, years, later, I've spotted at least two other pages that cite a Razzie Award loss as an Award Snub entry: one on Cats and one on YMMV.Diary Of A Wimpy Kid (regarding the critically and fan-thrashed The Long Haul). Like I said, I'm not 100% certain my Fifty Shades edit was rejected for complaining (though that's the most likely reason from what I remember), but seeing them reminded me of it.
I know the Razzies are controversial by nature, but now I'm wondering: does listing a Razzie loss under Award Snub count as complaining about/bashing the work?
Edited by Storygirl000resolved Regarding Trivia/TheCrow1994 Film
Two queries about Trivia. The Crow 1994
1. The Disowned Adaptation and Development Hell examples look like they belong on Trivia. The Crow 2024 instead. That being said, the former already has a more fleshed out example there. Should the Development Hell example be moved there though?
2. Both Fatal Method Acting and Died During Production are about Brandon Lee's death. Is this redundant or not? I lean to removing Died During Production and keeping Fatal Method Acting but I'm unsure.
openHow many folders does a character page need? Film
I found a characters page for The Curse of Frankenstein that has only one character folder on it (Baron Frankenstein, the only recurring character in his series). I wonder what should be done about it, because do character pages have a minimum amount of folders/characters? If so, should I add more? Or could I move the page to the more general Hammer Horror page for recurring characters in those series of films in general?

Hiya! I've been a reader of this wiki for a while now, and am now taking my first steps into editing. I want to do justice to Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd by giving it it a proper page, but going to that namespace just takes me to Dumb and Dumber, as one of its "Alternative Titles". How would one go about correcting such a thing?
