openPre-Commented ZCEs Web Original
I'm unsure exactly what the rule on this is but the troper Whaterva has been adding pre-commented ZCEs
to Characters.ONE
I'm unsure if this is allowed or not so I decided to post it here anyways
openRecreating Linda's Tale Web Original
I'm sorry I didn't know what ZCE meant at first. But now I do, it would be nice to bring back Linda's Tale as it is a web animation series created by Joe The Venezuelan from Patreon. I won't use ZCE examples again I promise and I will do more research before I act.
resolved Should this be TRS'd: AmericaWonWorldWarII Web Original
The trope description meanders along far too many tangents to what should be a description of the trope in fiction itself...feels like most of this should be moved to an Analysis page?
Edited by DarthWalrusresolved Monkey Wrench Web Original
Needing to make sure before I do anything. The latest episode of Monkey Wrench is available on Newgrounds and will be coming to youtube on the 30th. Since it is available for all already via newgrounds, is it safe for me to make a recap page for the latest episode?
resolved How does one redirect Video examples away from a defunct page? Web Original
This is a problem I've had for a while now, there are a bunch of video examples scattered around the site with Atun Shei Films as their media source. This is a page that I oversaw the splitting of into Atun-Shei Films, Checkmate, Lincolnites!, The Witchfinder-General and Frozen '50s Man, meaning that not only to these examples need to be corrected from the defunct page but they need to be overwritten to link to the more specific media source. As far as I can tell, though, only the person who uploaded a video example can edit it, and I'm not even entirely sure how to access the Video examples page for a work which no longer exists. What should be done about this?
openStandards of work Web Original
So I’m new here and working on a trope page 4 [REDACTED] SMP. Anybody got an idea what kind of guidelines i should hold 2?
What standards do we have that should be met 2 ensure it isn’t deleted and is up 2 snuff?
Finally, does anyone have guidelines 4 workshopping character pages?
openReddit Stories and Text Stories Web Original
I think there are enough of both on YouTube that they could probably be listed as viable Web Video subgenres.
For Reddit Stories: We currently have a page for rSlash. Others include Lost Genre Stories, Revenge Times, and NextDoor Neighbor.
For Text Stories: We currently have pages for Apple Texts, Text Theater, and Viral Texts - and others include Peep Texts, Pear Texts, Mac Texts, iOS texts, Orange Text, Right or Wrong, and Ash Texts. While the ones listed are of relatively decent quality, for the most part - there are some others of more questionably quality (e.g. unintelligible translation errors, robotic voice actors, text/vocal mismatches).
Edited by MusicLuver69openWorks page made for a single video questions Web Original
I noticed someone made a trope page for AI Pajama Sam, which is based off of a youtuber (DougDoug) playing Pajama Sam in "No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside" using an AI voice program. I'm unsure why it exists or if it needs to, but I wanted to mention it since it feels odd it was made.
The video it was made for was a decently length one, but it is so far the only one Doug has made, and stuff it mentions can be done on his own Web Video page. Is this something that really should be done? The page itself is somewhat barebones and even has a character page now, but it feels unnecessary to make a page for a single video like that. I think it should be deleted for now, but wanted to get feedback on this.
Edited by keyblade333openSO MANY RED LINKS Web Original
Is it safe to make new recap entries for the Dream SMP? By my understanding, the old ones were copy-pasted from the Dream Team wiki, so I'll attempt to avoid that.
Edited by CoraCreatesopenList of works reviewed Web Original
Recap.Joueur Du Grenier was recently cut due to being a list of works reviewed rather than a proper episode list. This was, however, at the cost of a lot of work over the years by people who contributed to the page, as well as a lot of wicks that encouraged wiki exploration. Is there a type of subpage that would be appropriate to put a list of works that a critic has reviewed?
resolved An example of a possible non-existed work Web Original
While I was moving an example from Cliffhanger.Web Original. I just stumbled upon seeing what appears to be an example of a non-existed work where it claims that it ends with a famous cliffhanger. Here's an example.
- Space Boyfriend ends in quite the famous one. Ben finally confesses his love to Veronica, and the series was canceled before she could respond.
I have no clue what Space Boyfriend is or who those characters are. Did anyone know this Web Original?
openMisplaced IKnewIt Entry? Web Original
In Trivia.Cell Spex, I Knew It! is now YMMV, but it's about CellSpex herself accurately predicting a meme. Should it still be moved to the YMMV page?
openRequesting the edit revert Web Original
I actually didn't realized until now that the editing i did for the Characters section for QSMP has been rushed on my end and i would like to request an edit revert.
I also checked Twitter/X, and apparently Dapper wasn't able to make it on the rescue boat in time Source
openWhere do I discuss this? Web Original
On Nov. 3rd at 4 PM, I added the following Wingding Eyes entry on The Amazing Digital Circus (albeit an earlier version with some Word Cruft I didn't notice, but was removed later) to Pomni's folder in the Characters page, since both examples pertained only to her and there was already a similar Eye Trope (Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises) specified to her on the folder.
- Wingding Eyes:
- Pomni's eyes occasionally become scribbles when she's extremely distressed.
- Pomni's eyes become spinning spirals when she vomits from disorientation.
A couple hours later, Twiddler, in one of their numerous cleanups up to now, removed my addition on the grounds that the trope is "already listed on the main page," and "whether it's listed there or here, it should only be listed on one." I've never heard this rule before, not even from the other mods I've seen doing edits on pages. I thought it was fine to keep certain examples specific to a character on both work and character pages (particularly if they were multiple examples of one entry, including if they all pertained to the same character or mentioned multiple ones) because I've seen many tropers around here do that for a long time since I've first joined the site.
I'd like to discuss this issue somewhere, but I don't know exactly where because it's the first time I'd be talking about rules I've never seen or heard anywhere with a mod (most previous rule-related cases were merely questions of doubt before doing any edits on pages, particularly to avoid Edit Wars). Is it okay if I talk about it on this query? Should I talk with Twiddler via PM? Or should I bring it to a forum thread?
In general, my opinion is that I'd like to remove the Wingding Eyes entry from the main page and keep it in Pomni's folder, but I might change my mind once I start discussing.
EDIT: The entry has been recently changed to this, and I think it looks better this way (even though I've never considered doing that):
- Wingding Eyes: Pomni's eyes occasionally become scribbles when she's extremely distressed, or spinning spirals when she vomits from disorientation.
Just a note for later when I begin the discussion.
Edited by Inky100openShould Coffeezilla have a media page? Web Original
I was watching a Coffeezilla video and thinking "I should add this to his page on TV Tropes", but it turns out he doesn't have one. Does he not have one for a reason, or simply because no-one bothered to make one yet?
resolved "A Bench In Stiix", a work without a link? Web Original
Found a Web Original called A Bench In Stiix. I asked the page's creator for a link because I can't find one on the page. They didn't respond.
I tried searching the title online. The only result was linking to the TV Tropes page.
What should I do? The examples seem contextualized enough.
openAre Virtual Pet Web Games Website/ or VideoGame/? Web Original
This is inconsistent and it's bugging me because I want to add a bunch of redlink examples to Virtual Pet since the genre is undertroped on here, but I'm not sure which is correct.
Sorted under Website/: Chicken Smoothie, Dragon Adopters, Dragon Cave, Lioden, Neopets, PokéFarm, Subeta, Sylestia, UniCreatures, Wajas, Wolvden
Sorted under VideoGame/: Celestial Vale, Flight Rising, Howrse, Lorwolf, OviPets, Pixel Cat's End, Puppet Nightmares, Valenth, Valley of Unicorns, Virtual Horse Ranch
I don't have an opinion either way, I just think they should be consistent, since they are all the same general type of web game?

It looks like a troper named Mahzui had completely blanked the trope list for the page Revenge Films except for a few select tropes, all of which have had their descriptions removed. It's such a weird thing, I'm not sure what's to do about it.
