Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I looked a bit further and I think some articles from that wiki site might have been copied from Wikipedia, though I'm unsure if that's the case for all of them (the Bao article
is somewhat different, for example).
Like I said in the cleanup, all those Recap pages (most of which are by Ethan-Partington) need cutlisting anyway, as we don't need Recap pages for individual short films. We have the work page for listing a description and tropes, and the Recap pages are not for synopses. We can move the only pageless work listed there to WesternAnimation.Dugs Special Mission, albeit without the synopsis.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.^^ I was mainly making this ATT to report a troper for plagiarism.
Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper Wall^^ Except these are all standalone films that can be succinctly described on the main page, as opposed to serialized works in a TV show or book series, and they're all quite short so it's not like they're so complex as to warrant a different page. Also, none of these pages list tropes, because again, that's on the work page.
And even if these Recap pages did serve a practical purpose, they appear to be largely copy/pasted anyway, which is a problem.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. If you haven't been there yet, we have The Copy-Paste Cleanup Thread
in the forums to get help for things like this.
^ Yeah, but the pages should be cutlisted anyway, so we don't need help cleaning the descriptions up. Mayor is just calling attention to the troper. (Worth mentioning these were made in like, 2019 though.)
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I've denied the cut requests as hosting synopses is, in fact, part of the purpose of that namespace. If plagiarism is also a problem you can cutlist again but please say that it's about plagiarism.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman^ I assumed that was only for installments of serial works and not 4-minute standalone short films.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.^^ Should I cutlist the page mentioned in the OP on plagiarism grounds?
Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallI just dug into the histories...
Our description on WesternAnimation.Bao was in place in essentially the form it is now when the page was created on 17 June 2018.
The pixar wiki page was created on 21 Jan 2019. The first 5 sentences of it are nearly identical to ours. If there IS any plagarism, it is them copying from here not the other way around.
The wikipedia page does date back to 15 Apr 2018, but the wording of the description was and is reasonably different from ours.
Edited by Zyffyr^ Still, partial plagiarism is still plagiarism, and should be treated as such.
If we've been plagiarized from, I don't really know what to do. Something like this happened recently with the Crappy Games Wiki stealing content from us, and the solution there was that a mod put in a note with the admins since no one wanted to go to that site to tell them not to steal from us since that site has a habit of attracting the 4chan crowd.
This might be easier, but since the page has now been cut it might be a little harder now.

Over at the Recap cleanup
, mightymewtron raised concerns that some of the content on the pages of Pixar Shorts may have been plagiarized from this website.
I did a check and discovered that, at the very least, Bao may have had content lifted from the site. From the article:
From the aforementioned website:
Ethan-Partington was the creator of that article. This appears to be plagiarism; some of the other articles may need to additionally be checked.
