You use the word "forced". If someone or something is doing this to them, then it's Lotus-Eater Machine.

The character's physical body is intact, but catatonic. They've been forced into a Mental World of sorts, where a physical manifestation of them roams through things such as their memories; sort of like a dream. Maybe they'll end up living through a fantasy of what they want to be, leading to a What You Are in the Dark scenario where they decide whether or not this "ideal world" is really as ideal as it seemed before.
Upon a quick look, my best guess is Journey to the Center of the Mind, but I don't know if the connotations of this scenario are specific enough for something else.
