The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
Under Musical World Hypothesis, one of the scenarios is that everybody is musically talented and automatically knows the song lyrics.
^^ Sorry, but no. This is nothing to do with dancing, just singing.
^ Yeah, I guess it does. Alright, cool.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSpontaneous Choreography covers singing as well as a dancing; the two often overlap and dancing is the more common aspect of it, but in musical form, knowing the lyrics to something that should feasibly be ad-libbing is still spontaneous choreography. but yeah it is still part of the musical world hypothesis regardless
True, but in my examples the music isn't spontaneous; they even announce the fact that they're going to sing, and it's all diegetic and natural...well, as natural as can be given the circumstances.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Is there a trope for how, in musicals, everyone just knows the song? Not necessarily Musical World Hypothesis, but more like... Pitch Perfect, where every character can not only recognize every song and artist, but knows how to do it in A Capella style without any prior rehearsal, or in situations where a character is singing a new song, and yet somehow everyone just knows how to jump in and how to sing it, despite the song just being made up on the spot.
This trope can only really exist in scenarios where the characters are actually singing in-universe, obviously.
