Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help. It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread for ongoing cleanup projects.

Been getting the same. a browser redirect pops up while I'm on tvtropes telling me my Java is outdated and I need to "click here" to update (yeah, sure). The scam site is downdufn.com, downwmhdb.com, and other names. The reason I posted a question here (which I'm trying to track down) is that this only happens when I'm actively logged into tvtropes. I wondered if something horrible is piggybacking on the tv tropes site and asked if the site admins knew anything. Interesting to see somebody else with a similar tale!

Seems unlikely (I'm no security expert, but I'm pretty sure that if such a thing was afflicting TV Tropes, there'd be problems with a lot more sites than just a medium sized wiki). It being a dodgy ad makes more sense.
