What do you remember about the show?

You need to give us more information than this. Was this horror? Was this a TV show or a movie? What was the genre and when did you see it?

Just a protip because you've made comments about this on a couple of different postings that actually included the information you were asking for now: in the subject line, there's a little tag that says what medium the thing is (if the poster bothers to select it). The OP here not only labelled their post as being for a Film but also titled their post "basketball movie". The rest are good questions though!

Anyway, OP, could it have been Flubber? That sounds familiar to me but the only movies I can think of that would have a scene like that are Flubber and Space Jam, and I don't think it was Space Jam.

I respect your comment Livewithstyle, and thank you for the respectful way you put that, but film and basketball movie are not enough to go on alone. If the poster who asked this question posted this on other queries, then he/she could have the decency to post all that information in one thread, for both their sake and the sake of those who wish to answer. It gives them more of a chance to have their queries answered, and us more of a chance to try to resolve it.

That all said, and I hope I am being respectful in this reply. I agree with Flubber and Space Jam, but I doubt it is either. I first thought Little Nicky, the basketball game scene, but though Little Nicky tries to release his evil into a basketball, it does not form a face or growls, it just explodes on sight. If not, then this still seems quite familiar, perhaps it was not a basketball, but some other sport ball, it is quite possible the poster could be confusing memories.

Right, like I said, the rest of your questions were good because they're definitely about information that would help, but my point was that you asked them if it was a movie or a TV show when they'd already said it was a movie in two different ways in the original post. I thought there was a chance you were overlooking the subject lines when you're replying to queries, because it's happened on a few other posts as well (and not just to you, but other folks trying to help often overlook the medium tag and subject line!)

For OP: I fffffeel like I vaguely remember that in the live-action Casper movie, sometimes the mean ghosts would inhabit objects and then pop out of them to scare people? So that's another potential lead. But like thestormtrooper said, it'd definitely help to know when you saw the movie or what era you think it was from to narrow down when it was made!

You are right. I am sorry, I should have realized that. However, it is quite possible that sometimes we try to identify something we thought was a movie, but was actually a TV show, and likewise, a made for TV movie for example, but you are correct. The original poster said that this was a movie, something I should have noted, but a basketball movie obviously is not that clear, we need more details. I too think Casper is a strong possibility. Another thought that this was perhaps a hallucination scene, maybe the basketball was not evil at all, just something the player hallucinated, but that might be a stretch.
