Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
It's not the best option, but it's not outright forbidden like hiding the actual trope would be. Still, if you can see a way to rewrite the example to contain a reasonable amount of non-hidden content, you definitely should.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.It's not ideal, but it should be acceptable.
Normally, you want to give some kind of indication of when the spoiler happens (an episode title, chapter number, etc.) so readers can know if it's safe for them to reveal it, but with Bittersweet Ending that indication can be found in the trope's name itself, so I don't think that's a problem.
EDIT: wow, lots of ninja'ing going on here.
Edited by ZuxtronI've seen different people have different takes on it. Ideally you want to have something unspoilered to provide context that'll prevent people from spoiling themselves- AKA Self-Fulfilling Spoiler syndrome.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallHonestly, sometimes the very presence of a trope can be a spoiler even if the example is fully spoiled, so I can see where this person is coming from.
Space Battles Dot Com fanworks (now oficial) index in my Sandbox. What you all need to remember is that nobody's required to add a spoiler trope to begin with. If you don't want to reveal that the hero gets killed, then just don't add the trope The Hero Dies in the first place.
Of course, you're not allowed to remove a spoiler trope that somebody else added correctly.
>requiring spoiler tropes be in a separate folder unless the work is spoilers off
The problem with that is... one of the problems with that is, how do we decide which tropes are and aren't spoilers? We can't even agree on which events are and aren't spoilers.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.Plus, that flies afoul of the rule against spoiler folders; that is, people aren't gonna know what's a spoiler and what isn't until they click on the folder.

Bittersweet Ending: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP
Is this an acceptable method for editing here?
