I know we prefer official art for work and character pages, though I think we do allow fanart if no relevant official art is available.

I'm almost certain we're required to credit the artist if we use their entire picture for any purpose.

Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.

If there's no credit for the art, it either needs to be pulled or somebody needs to ask the creator for permission to use it.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

I'm pretty sure we don't allow fanart for work pages, especially without permission.

Looking it up, the artist is Amok and his website is at http://en.amokanet.ru/. It probably shouldn't be too hard to get his permission as his portraits are in wide circulation among the fanbase.

The TCG is another potential source for images; it would at least be more official.

I'm pretty sure I've said in another thread that fanart should only ever be used for non-visual mediums when the creator of the work acknowledges/promotes the fanart as official. If we don't have official art, then we don't have any art. TCG cards would fall under "creator promotes the art", so I'd give that a pass.

In the case of ASOIAF, use what Martin has promoted as official. The TCG is one source. Illustrations from the books that do have them is another option. Avoid fanart.

Bump. Should we start an IP thread to replace the images with TCG art?

Noting here that the ASOIAF wiki permissions for card art does not apparently extend to third parties.

^Wouldn't it fall under fair use, like any other official character art we use?

It does seem like much of that art was later repackaged for The Art of A Song of Ice and Fire so it should be good.
