Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.

The Hawkgirl one was especially bad because instead of just removing the link, they replaced it with a piped link to Hawkman. And I was like, wow, way to unintentionally insult Hawkgirl, dude.
Something similar happened in the Beware the Superman page, where I found a link in the name 'Superior Iron Man' that instead linked to AXIS, the event the comic spun out of. But that's at least more understandable, since it was a tie-in to a crossover event and those generally don't get pages of their own. Nonetheless, I had to edit the page so that the name linked to its own work page.
I'm not sure if I should just dutifully re-edit all the red links whenever I see this happening or try and do something more drastic to correct this misconception.
"I think if you're capable of entertaining people, then you are doing a good thing. - Stan LeeThere's a "work title" notifier that tells people they're not linking to the work properly, as well as pointing out that work names should be in italics or quotes. Send them that, and if you didn't create the link in the first place you'll be fine to edit the link back in.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Right. Like every other common editing issue, we just need to inform people that redlinks are good.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI noticed this as well. Had a brief and friendly discussion about the issue with a troper who did this on a page I have on watch, and they apologized and changed it back. They weren't aware of the policy and thanked me for pointing it out.
It's great when things resolve nicely. Given that the problem tropers get a lot of attention here, it's nice to know that a lot of fellow tropers actually aren't like that.
Just a correction ^:one can redlink on indices as well
. (I don't like it but that's that :P)
There's talk about getting rid of pages in the ComicBook/ namespace that are essentially character pages, so that could be why the Hawkgirl redlink was removed, but Outlaw Kid did have his own comic series named after him, as you mentioned.
Keet cleanup

I've been noticing this happening lately in pages I made. Even though the Red Link page says to leave red links for works in so that it's easier to crosswick later, people keep editing them out.
For instance, in the Spiritual Crossover page, a Red Link for Hawkgirl was removed, and then in the Split-Personality Switch Trigger page, two links for Outlaw Kid - a character with 45 issues to his name - were removed, with the only justification being that it was a red link. One of them even linked to the Red Link page itself in the edit reason, despite the fact that this action would seem to indicate they didn't actually read said page.
Either that, or the policy changed and no one bothered to update the Red Link page.
