Tropes Are Not Good. Examples of a trope can be played in so many different ways that there's no guarantee every one of them will be done in a way that appeals to you, or even in a way that works at all.

That would be very silly. Media doesn't work like that. Tropes Are Tools that can be used well or poorly; their inclusion in a work is not in and of itself an indicator of the work's quality.

For what it's worth, I can assure you that you don't need to like them all equally. Yeah, they all fit the trope definition, but they're different in many ways and it's fine to have preferences.

You can like examples of, say, a table without liking every table in existence. Moreover, you can like tables in general and not like every example of a table.

Likewise, you can like particular examples of a given trope without liking every example (presumably we're talking about straight examples). And you can like a given trope without liking every example of that trope.

Right. These are just lists of ways the tropes get used in various forms of media. You don't need to like the examples, they just exist.

I guess, but this is equally distressing in tropes like Fandom Rivalry where two fandoms are listed. I feel if I’m not in both fandoms, something is missing.

There’s another factor at play; however, I don’t feel comfortable sharing it on account that It’d sound silly or would make me sound crazy or both.

Fandom Rivalry isn't a trope. It's the way audiences react.

This doesn't seem like a question about how the wiki works. The topic might be better suited for the forums.

If you mean you don't understand the example, then it might not have enough context and should be fixed by somebody who understands the context behind the Fandom Rivalry. Ideally, most pages should be understood even by those who don't know the work yet.

If you just mean you feel left out because you're not in either fandom...sorry that not every example pertains to you personally, I guess?

I’m on the autism spectrum, I just have extreme FOMO.

I mean, same here, but you can just not look at the YMMV page for a work you don't know if it upsets you to see fandom reactions. Or you could try to get into a work if the fandom interests you.

Besides, a Fandom Rivalry is extremely unfun. I envy those who don't have to be a part of them.

All the same, I think the three big Fandom Rivalries, DC versus Marvel, Pokémon versus Digimon, and Star Wars versus Star Trek, have subsided and become Friendly Fandoms.

21st Jun, 2021 01:58:01 PM

....Okay? It's been over five months and ATT isn't the place to discuss this. And I can at least say that Marvel and DC are still very much competing.

21st Jun, 2021 02:17:17 PM

^^ Even if ATT isn't the place to discuss something like this, you should've made a new ATT instead of posting this in an old one so that it'll be noticed more and people would respond to you new query.
