Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
You are certainly allowed to do so — and There Is No Such Thing as Notability, so even a smaller, lighter, less-fleshed-out retelling would have been allowed. If you need help on how, see How to Create a Work's Page. (If you ever find yourself looking at this page, you've misread the instructions.)
Since you're troping your own work, be aware that you don't own the page and you need to take extra care to be objective.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Has your story actually been published anywhere? Could anyone read it? If not, it would go on Unpublished Works. Your story doesn't turn up when I search its name on Google.
Edited by Zuxtron"It's bigger, much darker, and more fleshed-out too."
...I hope that's a typo, but would suggest you take a look at The Content Policy and the 5P Circuit just in the case.
"Fleshed-out" means more developed, deeper, stuff like that. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean? I don't get the impression that it's a porn fic.
Oh, I were just confused then. Likely because it's next to bigger and darker.
I'm new here, and I'm unsure as how to make a page.
Benjamin P. PrattThe pages we linked above should explain it, especially How to Create a Work's Page.
I think I've got it downpat! c:
Benjamin P. PrattFYI, FanWorks.Violet Virgo 1990 is an invalid page location; the FanWorks/ namespace is for "Here is a list of fan works based on this work which have their own page on the wiki". Like FanWorks.Harry Potter.
Edited by wingedcatgirl Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I made that by mistake. I dunno how to delete it now.
Benjamin P. PrattThe Cut List is the tool you're looking for; I've already put it on there.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I see on your troper page that The Purple Dragon Saga is still upcoming. For this reason, I'd like to point you again towards Unpublished Works, or at least Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work. If there's no available info about it outside of TV Tropes, it's an Unpublished Work and goes in the DarthWiki/ namespace.
If you want to put it in the FanFic/ namespace, I'd suggest that you wait until after you've released part of the story.
Thank you! I'll work on creating a page for my upcoming work.
Benjamin P. PrattYour page, Characters.Violet Virgo 1990 is also a bad page. Characters subpages are for works, so you should start by making a page for the work itself, and add tropes there. Alternatively, you could use a sandbox.
Since I still can't find anything about your story online, I'm once again heavily suggesting that you create your page at Unpublished Works (note that unpublished works are not allowed to have subpages).
Also, you should learn how to make a Wiki Word. If a trope is two words, put the two words together with NoSpaces; otherwise, if it's just one word, surround it with {{curly braces}}.
I'm trying to learn, I understand it's a bad page. I'm on the spectrum myself and I'm doing my absolute best to figure this out.
Benjamin P. PrattI think I'll create a Sandbox page.
Benjamin P. PrattIf you want a place you can work more freely to get it the way you want it, ~Violet Virgo 1990, you can use Sandbox.Violet Virgo 1990. It's your own personal sandbox to play in as you like. When you've got things the way you want, you can move the content to the page you actually want it in, and send the Sandbox to the cutlist.
Side note, when your start publishing your fic and want to move it, the namespace you'll want is Fanfic/, not FanFic/. Note the second f being uncapitalized.

Benjamin P. Prattthey created it in a 'Fiction/' namespace with no examples, weird indentation, etc, etc
Anyone want to take a try at it?
Working on cleaning up List Of Shows That Need SummaryI put that page on the cutlist. Should the (now TWO) character subpages be cutlisted as well?
OP, why are you ignoring all the advice you've been given?
Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)We're now up to three character subpages, with the addition of The Purple Dragon Saga Malefor. I've sent a PM asking them to stop and put those pages on the cutlist.
Edited by Tarlonniel Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)They've told me via PM that they're going to try to fix things. But, umm... why does Administrivia/CreatingAWorkPageForAnUpcomingWork now link as Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work? Did a custom title request go wonky?
Edited by Tarlonniel Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)... Okay, can whichever mod(s) handle[s] custom titles ask the admins to fix your UX so that obviously wrong custom title requests like this actually look wrong on your end?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Ah, looks like it's fixed now - thanks! I guess we're done here. I hope.
Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)It is still in the non existent "Fiction/" namespace with no tropes
Working on cleaning up List Of Shows That Need SummaryWell, there's also DarthWiki. The Purple Dragon Saga now, which is at least where the page belongs.
The other pages were cut as I requested - I guess that one got declined for some reason? I don't know how to check.
Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)Usually, mods discuss on pages whose requests were declined. There's no discussion this time, so maybe it's just oversight.
Could I make a tropes page for my TLOS Retelling? It's bigger, much darker, and more fleshed-out too.
