Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
It's plain fact that The Chosen One is super special, so unless the show plays with a lot of tropes or does something else that makes use of certain tropes unexpected, "A well-known trope is played straight" isn't Fridge Brilliance, or really even Brilliance.
A Shout-Out, but only if it's an actual reference to Harry Potter and not a chosen-one-defeats-major-baddie thing.
Do you think "character named "Choosen One" defeats character named "Dark Lord"" is enough for a reference or is it too far-fetched ? Even if it count as a shout-out, I think the potential reference is subtle enough to be a Fridge. It's not just The Choosen One who's important, it's also the Dark Lord.
The Chosen One and the Dark Lord are tropes, and were not invented by J. K. Rowling. That they eventually triumph is also a trope. That makes this very unlikely to be a deliberate reference to one specific work with that premise.

changed the first Fridge Brilliance on Animator vs. Animation to something that isn't really a fridge but a simple fact:
"Of course the Chosen One would defeat anyone who gets in his way."
It used to make sense before because it used to be an Harry Potter reference (Of course the Chosen One would eventually triumph over the Dark Lord) and I tried to tell him that what he put wasn't a Fridge but he wasn't intersted in changing it back or asking on Ask The Tropers to see if it is really a Fridge, so I'm asking myself now: Does the first Fridge of this page count as a Fridge ?
